Exploring Cultural, Health, And Technology Intersections: A Focus On Migrant Experiences, Merna Mina, Sahij Gill
Bridges: An Undergraduate Journal of Contemporary Connections
Despite the plethora of theories and frameworks addressing culture, health, and technology adoption, there remains a notable absence of a unifying theory that comprehensively encompasses all three aspects, particularly concerning newcomers. The Health Belief Model, for example, underscores individual perceptions and attitudes toward health yet fails to consider the intricate interplay between cultural factors and technology adoption among immigrant populations. The Healthy Immigrant Effect, which posits that immigrants often exhibit better health outcomes than native-born individuals, does not mention the role of technology on health outcomes. Acculturation theories, while shedding light on the adaptation process, often fall short of explaining …

Alternative methods of healing can be found across the globe and are used by all kinds of people including refugees. This thesis will explore the potential benefits of Complementary and Alternative Medicine otherwise known as “CAM” as a supplementary strategy for helping refugees to deal with stress, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other harmful effects sustained on their journey and lives as displaced peoples. Applying Decolonizing Theories And Methodologies In Archaeology To Two Collaborative Cultural Resource Management Projects, Cydney K. Lanthier
Dissertations and Theses
Decolonizing theories and methods were employed during two separate graduate research projects. The methods of the initial project were informed by political ecology, the landscape-level historical ecology theory, Tribal sovereignty, traditional ecological knowledge (TEK), Indigenous archaeology, and community based participatory research (CBPR). The initial project was based entirely on CBPR and purposed to gain National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) nomination as a Traditional Cultural Property (TCP) over a portion of the traditional landscape. This project was cancelled before completion. However, several methods involved in CBPR were employed before then. The second project took on more of the historical ecology …

هدف المقال إلى تسليط الضوء على الرواية العربية بوصفها نوعاً أدبياً نثرياً، والتعرف إلى أهم عناصرها الداخلية، ومحتوياتها الفكرية وأثرها الكبير في التعبير عن الواقع المعاش ومحاولة إصلاحه من خلال بصمتها الخاصّة والفريدة. كما اعتمد البحث المنهج الاستقرائيّ، الوصفيّ، التحليليّ. ومن أبرز نتائج الدراسة اختلاف النقّاد حول نشأة فنّ الرواية عند العرب في العصر الحديث؛ فمنهم من ذهب إلى أنّ الرواية فنٌّ مستحدث وفد إلينا من الآداب الأوروبيَّة، ومنهم من اعتبرها فنّ عربي النشأة وله جذور في الأدب العربي القديم، ولكنَّها لم تكن بنفس الصورة الفنيَّة المعروفة الآن. كما توصل البحث إلى أن الرواية العربية أظهرت من خلال كتّابها معاناة …

هدف المقال الكشف عن درجة تطبيق مُديري المدارس لمبادئ الجودة الشاملة من وجهة نظر المعلمين، واتَّبعت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي، واستخدمت الدراسة استبانة الجودة الشاملة، وتكوَّنت عينة الدراسة من (70) معلماً ومعلمة من مُديرية قصبة إربد، وتوصَّلت الدراسة إلى أنَّ نسبة درجة تطبيق مُديري المدارس لمبادئ الجودة الشاملة من وجهة نظر المعلمين التي بلغت (78.6%) وهو مستوى عالٍ، والمتعلقة بمجال التخطيط الاستراتيجي التي بلغت (71.1%) وهو مستوى عالٍ، بينما جاءت النتائج المتعلقة بمجال القيادة الإدارية التي بلغت (83.6%) وهو مستوى عالٍ، بمجال البيئة الاجتماعية للمدرسة التي بلغت (83.7%) وهو مستوى عالٍ، كما وتوصَّلت إلى أنه لا توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية …

This presentation discussed how the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were integrated into an existing graphic design module delivered on the BA in Visual Communication Design in a joint project with the TU Dublin School of Art and Design, School of Biological, Health and Sports Sciences Sustainability and Research Hub Research, the Ethics and Integrity Office. The project explored underrepresented women in science and graphic design.

A fundamental concept of the International Baccalaureate (IB) educational philosophy is international mindedness. International mindedness refers to being, thinking, and acting with openness to the world and an understanding of the interconnectedness of oneself with others. Despite extensive research on religious beliefs and international mindedness separately, there remains a dearth of studies exploring their intersection, especially among the International Baccalaureate (IB) teachers in their early professional years. Contemporary billboard advertising in Beirut fuels anxiety in Beirut’s citizens. In a city suffering from daily uncertainties caused by a devastating financial collapse in 2019, and mourning victims of the worst non-nuclear explosion to ever occur in the Port of Beirut in 2020, Beirutis are also faced with advertising which constantly reinforces uneasiness. Visual advertisements market visas to leave the country, purchasing second passports and money counting machines, forming quotidian reminders of the current state of the country. Representation is not just an opinion; it is the recreation of realities, facts, and stories that encourage receivers, who are readers and viewers, to build perceptions of a certain topic, objects, events, and human beings. Studying the representation of refugees in the media, UN agencies, and International organizations' press releases, videos, and images has been the main focus for many scholars for decades.
