Strong and healthy churches are made up of strong and healthy disciples. The ministry context for this qualitative action research project was the Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church, a predominately Black congregation located in the Pea Ridge community of Brewton, Alabama. The problem was some members at Saint Mark engaged in spiritually immature actions that evoked immature reactions which yielded unhealthy relationships. To address the problem, the researcher developed and implemented the “Strategic Bible-Based Pastoral Counseling Program” (SBPCP), a strategic Christian ministry that provided participants one-on-one pastoral counseling opportunities for the purpose of building up spiritually healthier Christians. This article describes the work of a civic education program in New York City schools called Youthbuilders, which existed from 1938 to 1948. Youthbuilders' aim was to engage youth in civic education projects and teach them about their place in a democracy and worked with them to support racial and social equality. Shortly after World War II, they were attacked by a conservative Catholic organization that was working to eliminate groups associated with so-called Communist beliefs like social justice and racial equality. Youthbuilders shut their doors by 1948. The story is one that helps us understand the fragility of working …

At intersections of popular music education, music technology, and community music practices, music teachers in the United States adapted to teaching and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically from March 2020 to March 2021. The purpose of this research was to better understand the perspectives of modern band teachers regarding the opportunities and challenges of teaching music during the pandemic. This narrative inquiry aimed to re-story the experiences of Paulina, a blind music education major, as she navigated her degree program at a large university. Self-Compassion Among K-12 Music Educators, Jennifer Gee, Karen Koner

The purpose of this study was to explore self-compassion among K-12 music educators. Our sample consisted of 139 practicing K-12 music educators across the United States. Participants completed a modified version of the Self-Compassion Scale Long Form (Neff et al., 2021), which measured both positive (self-kindness, common humanity, mindfulness) and negative (self-judgment, isolation, over-identification) aspects of self-compassion (Neff, 2003). Through one-way ANOVAs, we found significant differences between teaching experience and participants' scores for mindfulness, overidentification, self-judgment, isolation, and their overall self-compassion scores. We also discovered significant differences between age, over-identification, self-judgment, grade level taught, common humanity, and isolation.

The purpose of this study was to examine graduate degree programs in music education in NASM accredited institutions with the specific areas of degree and institution information, admissions, and curricula. For this content analysis, I collected data through the websites of NASM accredited institutions that offered graduate degrees in music education, including master’s degrees (N = 203) and doctoral degrees (n = 53). The institution and degree information for these graduate degree programs included types of degrees offered, format of degrees (e.g., summers only, distance learning), location where the programs were located, and Carnegie Classifications (American Council on Education, 2023). …

In a prior investigation I focused on the cooperating teacher’s perspective during mentoring dialogues, reflecting on their role as a mentor (Munroe, 2021). Other researchers have focused on what the student teacher learns from the conversation, but not specifically on teacher identity development (Fernandez & Erbilgin, 2009; Tsui et al., 2001). In this study I recorded mentoring dialogues between three pairs of student teachers and cooperating teachers. Using stimulated recall interviews (Ericsson & Simon, 1999), I asked the student teachers to reflect on their perceptions of the cooperating teacher’s mentoring role and their teacher identity. Models used in geospatial data science are often built and optimized for a specific local context, such as a particular location at a point in time. However, upon publication, these models may be generalized beyond this context, reused in research simulating or predicting other times and places. Without sufficient information or documentation, bias embedded in these models can in turn result in bias in the reuser’s research outputs. Drawing on a long-term qualitative case study of aging dams researchers and developers of models used by these researchers, we find significant documentation gaps. C.S. Lewis is little-known for his Shakespeare scholarship except perhaps for his lecture “Hamlet: The Prince or the Poem” for the British Academy (1942). This essay begins by discussing Lewis’s approach to the play and his desire to reenchant his audience with the play he had loved as a child, before character-criticism got in the way. It then explores how Lewis takes the Prince and the aspects he found most affective in Hamlet out of the play and explores them, imaginatively, in another world: recasting them “for children” in Narnia. In her book Folklore of the Disc Jacqueline Simpson argues persuasively that “Whatever is folklore on Earth finds its mirror in the reality of the disc” (14). Following her, I propose that a study of recurring images, motifs and allusions in the Tiffany books suggests that Tiffany might be considered the Discworld’s reflection of Earth’s Celtic Sovereignty Goddess. تُظهر الهويّة الوطنيّة اللبنانيّة تعقيدًا متعدّد الأوجه بسبب التأثيرات التاريخيّة والدينيّة. فقد أثّر الانتداب الفرنسي بانحيازه للمسيحيّين وإنشاء «لبنان الكبير»، بما تناقض مع تطلّعات المسلمين العربيّة. أدّى الميثاق الوطني إلى حلّ مؤقّت اعترف بالتوازن الطائفي، لكنّ الوحدة تفكّكت في حرب أهليّة مدمّرة. ورغم اتّفاق الطائف الذي اعترف بعروبة لبنان، يبقى النضال من أجل هويّة وطنيّة موحّدة مستمرًّا بسبب إرث النظام الطائفي والتأثيرات الإقليميّة، ممّا يشكّل تحدّيًا دائمًا لفكرة الوحدة الوطنيّة.‏

ينطلق البحث من لاهوت الجسد كما طوّره قداسة البابا يوحنّا بولس الثاني، ولا سيّما من خلال تعاليمه في لقاءات الأربعاء (1979-1984)، حيث يؤكّد على التمايز والمساواة بين الرجل والمرأة ضمن وحدة الطبيعة البشريّة. فقد خلق الله الرجل والمرأة متمايزين ومتساويين في الكرامة، ودعاهما إلى الاتّحاد كجسد واحد بحسب قصد الله الخالق. يفسّر لاهوت الجسد هذا الاتّحاد بوصفه أساس الزواج والعائلة، ويبرز تمايز الإنسان عن الخليقة وتكريمه بكرامة فريدة. وقد أعطى المسيح المعنى النهائيّ للجسدانيّة من خلال عطاء الذات في الزواج والخدمة بالمحبّة، مساهمًا في تكوين حضارة العائلة والأخوّة. كما أنّ الجسد البشريّ مدعوّ إلى القيامة الأخيرة.‏
