Wing Kan Liu Jan 2025

Wing Kan Liu

Dissertations from all years

Sze Wing Lam Jan 2025

Sze Wing Lam

Dissertations from all years

Suet Ying Fung Jan 2025

Suet Ying Fung

Dissertations from all years

Hoi Tung Lam Jan 2025

Hoi Tung Lam

Dissertations from all years

King Yung Lam Jan 2025

King Yung Lam

Dissertations from all years

Yuen Fei He Jan 2025

Yuen Fei He

Dissertations from all years

Suet Ying Chow Jan 2025

Suet Ying Chow

Dissertations from all years

Lok Yi Chow Jan 2025

Lok Yi Chow

Dissertations from all years

Cheuk Hei Ho Jan 2025

Cheuk Hei Ho

Dissertations from all years

Zheyang Fan Jan 2025

Zheyang Fan

Dissertations from all years

Sin Fai So Jan 2025

Sin Fai So

Dissertations from all years

Peiyan Chen

Dissertations from all years

Towards A Missiological Model For Reaching East Indian Muslims For Christ In Kwatta Of Suriname, Kenneth Rigobert

Dissertations DIS

The presence of Seventh-day Adventists in Suriname dates to 1894, but there is no evidence, either in literature or field research, of any specific plan or missional thinking focused on the Adventist mission among East Indian Muslims in Suriname. The field research highlights some significant missiological challenges faced by the Seventh-day Adventist mission in Suriname that account for its slow numerical growth. These missiological challenges include: (1) a lack of committed and dedicated indigenous leaders; (2) inappropriate training given to the indigenous people for the mission in Suriname's multicultural and multilingual dynamics; (3) unsuitable missional methods for Suriname’s multicultural and …

Hungarian Ruling Political Party Fidesz’S ‘Soft Power’ Use Of Religion: Themes, Networks, Partnerships, Alexander Faludy Jan 2025

Hungarian Ruling Political Party Fidesz’S ‘Soft Power’ Use Of Religion: Themes, Networks, Partnerships, Alexander Faludy

Occasional Papers on Religion in Eastern Europe

This article aims to stimulate better understanding of Fidesz’s use of religion as a ‘soft power’ tool. Exploring the Hungarian government’s ‘soft power’ has lately engaged the attention of professional researchers. The use of religious messaging, networks, and opinion formers to propagate positive images of Fidesz abroad has, however, largely been overlooked. This essay argues that such use has been both substantial and successful. The article’s primary focus will be on the use made of Christianity in government aligned communications and network building. Attention will, however, also be paid to the subsidiary roles played by Fidesz’s outreach to both Jewish …

Impact Of Medical Mission In Sub-Saharan Africa: History And Present Implications, Olaotse Obed Gabasiane Jan 2025

Impact Of Medical Mission In Sub-Saharan Africa: History And Present Implications, Olaotse Obed Gabasiane

Journal of Adventist Mission Studies

Early medical missionaries and gospel workers understood the importance and place of health, especially in view of the counsel of Ellen White when she suggested that medical work is “the right arm of the gospel.” Intuitively, this remains the case, even during these end times. This calls for the Adventist Church and its health system to look into effective ways and means to save the hospitals that face existential issues and help them return to effective ministry in their communities. However, the old model of running hospitals could also be improved by considering some of the suggested recommendations. The Divine, …

The Massai People And Wealth: A Stewardship Of Totality, Youssry Guirguis

Journal of Adventist Mission Studies

The concept of wealth among the Massai people differs significantly from the traditional understanding in contemporary societies. To the Massai people wealth is not measured by money as commonly perceived by people today, but rather exhibits itself by land, social status, and livestock. This article examines a few terms used by the Massai people to define the idea of wealth in order to comprehend their unique cultural dimensions. Terms that are related to wealth will be investigated, such as “land” (enkop), “red God” (enkai Nanyokie), “black God” (enkai Narok), “cattle” (inkishu), “goats and sheep,” “wealth” (emali), and “dowry” (Inkishu/ Olpisiai). …

From Consumers Of Mission To Contributors To Mission, Silvano Barbosa Jan 2025

From Consumers Of Mission To Contributors To Mission, Silvano Barbosa

Journal of Adventist Mission Studies

Seventh-day Adventists in many parts of the Global South have been able to plant self-governing, self-sustaining, and self-propagating churches. One of the immediate results of this successful missionary and evangelistic work has been an explosive growth in membership and financial resources. More importantly, they have given evidence of intense passion, growing qualifications, and remarkable capabilities for international missions. For this reason, leaders of the church in those regions should continuously work on expanding their mission-sending structure to allow young people, professionals, and pastors to fulfill the cross-cultural missionary call the Holy Spirit places on their hearts.

We know that sexualized violence is not only an individual act of harm, but a structural and cultural phenomenon. Living in a small, rural community, there are unique dynamics around sexualized violence due to structural barriers, limited anonymity, and social/cultural norms. How do these dynamics intersect with rape culture and community complicity?

The Horrors Of History: Gender, Folklore, And Puritanism In Robert Eggers’ The Witch, Trinity Stuckey

Undergraduate Scholarship

This paper examines Robert Eggers' 2015 folk horror film The Witch as a legitimate form of historical interpretation that illuminates the intersection of gender, folklore, and religious belief in 1630s colonial New England. Through analysis of primary sources including Cotton Mather's Memorable Providences, Samuel Willard's possession accounts, and Salem witch trial records, this study demonstrates how Eggers' meticulous attention to historical detail creates a narrative that captures the psychological and sociocultural dimensions of Puritan experience. The paper argues that by taking seriously the theological worldview of its subjects rather than dismissing supernatural elements as superstition, The Witch achieves a …

A Crucible For Allotment And Assimilation: The Referendum For Ratification Of The Sioux Act Of 1889 On The Standing Rock Agency, Richard Keith Smith

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

Determining post-Civil War national policy regarding American Indians was a tedious process. Many entities could describe themselves as stakeholders in the process, stakeholders who were beholding motivations which they would describe as significant. Those motivations would, to varying degrees, take the interest of Native Americans into consideration. It was in the liminal environment of volatile policy adjustments that American Indians were compelled to make decisions regarding their future. The Dakota (Sioux) represented a crucible for the recently approved General Allotment Act of 1887. The rise of progressive tribal leadership was a primary reason for the sudden passage of the Sioux …

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

My sculptural practice is rooted in the belief that humans and nature are not separate, but deeply interwoven. I create immersive installations that embody cycles of life, death, and transformation; spaces where spiritual and material realities coexist in tension and harmony. Through cast metal, organic materials, and fabricated forms, I channel archetypal symbols from mythology, ritual, and the collective unconscious to create environments that speak to both personal and universal experience.

During my time at Fort Hays State University, I developed a body of work grounded in installation and cast metal. I forged branches, flowers, and leaves from steel, and …

Unearthed And Exposed, Kelly Hagen

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

My work is a continuous dialogue between ancient symbolism and contemporary womanhood, weaving together personal experience, historical reference, and natural form. Through clay and mixed media, I explore the layered identities women inhabit—nurturer, creator, survivor, transformer—often drawing inspiration from early figurative sculpture, myth, and the cyclical patterns found in nature. Unearthed and Exposed speaks to the heart of my practice: revealing what has been buried, silenced, or overlooked, and bringing it to light through form and material. I am particularly drawn to the timelessness of the feminine figure and the stories it holds. From Paleolithic Venus figurines to amphora vessels, …

Performance Assemblages | Wintersession 2025 Syllabus, La Samuelson, Movement Lab

Course Materials & Research

In this course, we will make solo and collaborative performance works. We will approach performance as the project of creating new contexts for interrelation–between beings, material, matter, the known, and the unknown–that allow both the performer and the viewer to learn and/or experience something we otherwise would not have access to. In other words, the work of this class is the work of listening in the direction of something you can’t quite yet hear, and taking the time to figure out: where you might stand, what device you might invent, what you might wear, and how you might work with …
