At present, the protection of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) has entered the stage of systematic protection. The National Eco-Cultural Protection Zones (NECPs), first created by China, are an important model for protecting ICH in the social-natural-cultural ecosystem. However, their sustainable development faces continuous systematic challenges: (1) Intergenerational Transmission Fracture and Policy Misalignment (aging inheritors, youth out-migration, misaligned policies); (2) Digital Activation Gap (static digital archives failing to drive innovation); and (3) Fragile Protection Ecosystem (fiscal dependency, product homogenization, weak market competitiveness). Accurate simulation of garment–body interactions is essential for enhancing virtual prototyping in apparel design. However, conventional virtual prototyping platforms rely on rigid avatars that inadequately reflect the complex deformation of human soft tissues, particularly for tight-fitting sportswear. Biomechanical models have been developed to address this issue. Building on craft’s material, narrative, and embodied dimensions—well established in design research—this study explores how textile-based making can foster playful engagement with personal data. As data practices shift beyond performance-oriented dashboards toward more expressive and situated forms, textile craft offers an alternative mode for materializing data through hands-on interaction. We conducted three workshops with participant groups of varying expertise in craft and data—crochet hobbyists, data-science students, and community organisers—with each workshop employing textile techniques tailored to their backgrounds. This project explores the complexities surrounding the transition of young adults with special needs into municipally operated supported housing in Denmark. This life-changing move is managed by local municipalities and ideally involves collaboration between the resident, their relatives, and a caseworker. This paper shares insights from the Città-IN project, a one-year participatory research initiative in San Siro, Milan, a diverse and fragile public housing neighbourhood. The project explored how families with migratory backgrounds, especially mothers, access school-related public services. This paper examines communication in design thinking, drawing on Sperber and Wilson's Relevance Theory as an alternative to the prevailing information-processing model. While design thinking is commonly framed as problem-solving, we propose that designed artefacts function as ostensive stimuli that guide users' inferential processes rather than encoding fixed meanings. The ostensive-inferential model reveals how designers communicate through intentions, where users actively infer meaning based on evidence, context, and relevance. This framework explains complex communicative phenomena, including affordances, metaphors, cross-cultural design considerations, and ethical dimensions of design practice. This study develops sustainable materials using hydrogel as the matrix and explores the transition from sustainable materials to user-centered sustainability, with a particular focus on achieving art healing through material experience. The findings reveal that "Aesthetic" property exert the greatest influence on art healing in the context of multimodal material experiences involving visual, tactile, and smell, followed by "Intrinsic" property, whereas "Physical" property have a comparatively limited effect. Navigating complex spatial-semantic structures in immersive environments remains a key challenge in the digital preservation and public engagement of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH). This paper presents a navigation interface that integrates Multiples and Multilevel Worlds-in-Miniatures (MM- WiMs) to support efficient and meaningful exploration of multi-scale cultural information in VR. We conducted three formative workshops to identify six design considerations in immersive ICH exploration. This study investigates how the participatory design concept of infra structuring and the formation of a public manifests differently in Japanese workplaces under data-driven management. Marine ranching represents a new approach to sustainable fisheries by integrating social, technological, and ecological dimensions within the STES framework. This study applies the framework to 15 demonstration sites in Guangdong Province to examine how innovation, governance, and community participation interact with ecosystem health and biodiversity. Using regression and descriptive analyses, we identified key relationships: stakeholder engagement fosters technological adoption, sustainable technologies support ecosystem health, and community involvement strongly promotes biodiversity conservation. Moreover, biodiversity emerged as a strong predictor of water quality, underscoring its importance for maintaining resilient marine systems. The promotion of specialty coffee and the opening of coffee shops have surged in Hong Kong in recent years, establishing the city as a leading destination for specialty coffee. Design maturity is a critical yet under examined dimension of innovation capability, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This study investigates how Taiwan’ s design policy- driven innovation initiative—a state-sponsored policy intervention—facilitates the strategic integration of design in both manufacturing and design service firms. Adopting a qualitative action research approach, we analysed eight participating firms and inductively derived a three-tiered model of design maturity: Design-Aware, Design-Capable, and Design-Led.
