Favissa: Past Archaeological Excavation Reports

In June 2021, a trial excavation was conducted at Ramat Bet Shemesh, in neighborhood D (Permit No. A-9053/2021; Map ref. 19510/62315), prior to the laying of a sewage line. The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and funded by the Ministry of Construction and Housing, was directed by L. Silas, with the assistance of N. Nehama (administration), Y. Zelinger (scientific counseling) and E. Marko (surveying and field photography).

In May 2021, a trial excavation was conducted at Ramat Bet Shemesh (Neighborhood C2, Lot 508; Permit No. A-9014/2021; Map ref. 199112/623221). The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and funded by Yahel Engineers company, was directed by L. Silas, with the assistance of N. Nehama (administration), S. Halevi (photogrammetry, photography and measurements) and Y. Zelinger (scientific consulting). A hewn winepress with a treading surface was excavated and documented (Figure 1).

In June 2021, a salvage excavation was conducted at Har ‘Amasa (Permit No. A-9034/2021; map ref. 208830–926/583382–4831). The site is located near the wastewater treatment plant, in agricultural fields, in the northwestern part of the Har ‘Amasa settlement (Fig. 1). The excavation was opened as a result of the damage caused by infrastructure works carried out by Mekorot, during which two terraces were cut by a backhoe.

In November 2021, a small salvage excavation was conducted on King David Street in Jerusalem (David Ha-Melech Street; Permit No. A-9145; map ref. 221195–205/631008–18), prior to road construction. The excavation was carried out on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and funded by the Moriah Company, and was directed by A. Novoselsky, with the assistance of K. Arbiv (inspection) and N. Nehama (administration).

In this book chapter I argue that contrary to what is said by Paul Guyer in Kant (Routledge, 2006) Kant's moral philosophy prohibits the bystander from throwing the switch to divert the runaway trolley to a side track with an innocent person on it in order to save more people who are in the path of the trolley in the "Trolley Problem" case made famous by Judith Jarvis Thomson (1976; 1985). Furthermore, Thomson herself (2008) came to agree that it would be wrong to throw the switch, just as it is wrong to push the person off the bridge to …

In the late nineteenth century, the violinist Camilla Urso (1840-1902) was widely recognized as the preeminent female violinist in the United States. As a nationally famous celebrity, Urso became a pedagogue and role model to subsequent generations of female violinists. Both the wide-ranging geographic spread of Urso’s career and her direct advocacy for women violinists played a pivotal role in changing cultural ideals of violin performance from a militant and masculine bravura tradition into a fashionable pursuit for young women. The scholarship on Latin American film in 2019 speaks of the rich and diverse critical studies that are being conducted in the field. This year the studies encompass a wide range of topics, like the role of Netflix in the production, distribution and consumption of Latin American films; the contention between national cinemas and transnationalism; and the re-examination of films made in the last century. This article employs methods of discourse analysis and corpus linguistics within a Bourdieusian theoretical framework to examine the discursive norms and limits regulating the construction of reputation by online contemporary art magazines. Moving between quantitative and qualitative analysis of the websites of online contemporary art magazines, the article identifies salient patterns surrounding the use of modifiers and links these patterns to the normative principles of the artworld. Its findings suggest that positive evaluation is a norm but that the use of explicitly evaluative modifiers is prohibited, that artists are predominantly classified according to nationality and that these classifications can construct …

In 2008, the hugely popular American global television format programme, The Apprentice, debuted its Africa wide version, The Apprentice Africa, in the African market. This became the first entrepreneurship format programme to be produced in Nigeria and Africa. First, the show was broadcast on three Nigerian channels, then moved to broadcasters in Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The Apprentice Africa reality TV show is a strategic research site for investigating the conditions of television format production in Nigeria, considering the programme’s interaction with multiple economic sectors of the country.

Access to online archival materials has become vital for many academic historians and other researchers. The COVID-19 global pandemic has aimed the spotlight on the digital archival collections hosted by archives institutions and available through the web. In light of this increased role of digital archival collections, it is imperative for archivists to gain a better understanding of academic historians’ perceptions of these materials. The study reported in this article builds on previous work in the archives, history, and library and information studies disciplines to assess current perceptions that academic historians have toward digital archival collections. 《儒林外史》以諷刺而聞名，但作者在書中並非只有否定，對社會加以諷刺、鞭撻的同時，也描繪了心中的理想社會，表達對禮樂兵農思想的推崇。書中有兩場戰爭似與全書的風格不相調和，筆者以這兩場戰爭為題，嘗試從兵農思想的角度，結合人物故事的原型、文獻，以探討作者創作的用意，以及兩場戰爭在全書中的作用。本文分作五部份，第一章為引言。第二章主要釐清兩埸戰爭中的人物、故事原型。第三章會從顏李學說看吳敬梓禮樂兵農思想的由來及內容。第四章從兩場戰爭的前因後果探討作者的思想。第五章為結語。

The Community Development and Youth Work (CDYW) programme team received funding from the IMPACT project as part of the Le Chéile award application during the academic year 2020/2021. The overall aim of the CDYW Le Chéile journey was to embed anti-racism in the teaching, learning and assessment of the programme. Changes were introduced to modules in terms of new content, students were exposed to different perspectives and voices, and new workshops were designed for placement preparation around identifying and responding to racism.
