The aim of this interactive workshop for educators and administrators is to promote cultural awareness and reflect on the impact that our own cultural influences have on the teaching and learning process. This interactive session will also allow professional educators and leaders to apply culturally informed practices to foster positive school climate, learning and academic achievement relevant to a widely diverse student population. The workshop strives to encourage dialogue between educators, administrators and interdisciplinary/inter-agency team members through the application of evidence-based practices for the development of a deeper understanding of ourselves and how our views impact on students’ academic achievement, …

The Jacksonian era was a period in which our youthful republic was intensely concerned with the problem of making accessible her potential resources through the medium of internal development. Nowhere were the growing-pains of internal improvement more acutely manifested than in the country’s newest acquisition, the Territory of Florida.
The Battle Of Olustee (Ocean Pond) Florida, George F. Baltzell
The Battle Of Olustee (Ocean Pond) Florida, George F. Baltzell
Florida Historical Quarterly
This account of the battle of Olustee has been prepared at the invitation of the Florida Historical Society from the reports contained in War of the Rebellion, Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies. A careful study of this source leaves one unsatisfied where the aim has been to arrive at definite facts of such nature as would enable a fairly complete record to be offered. It is undoubtedly true that these official records must give more accurate and complete information than any others, since the reports were generally made within a few days after the events occurred and …

Some Church History Of St. Augustine During The Spanish Regime, Wilbur H. Siebert
Florida Historical Quarterly
When the Spaniards evacuated St. Augustine in 1763 and 1764 they took with them to Havana all the altars, images, vestments, canopies, cushions, bells, and even the wax tapers of their churches, religious brotherhoods, and the Franciscan convent. All this sacred paraphernalia was in charge of the warden of the parish church, Simon de Hita, and was transported to its destination in the schooner Our Lady of Light, which cast anchor in the harbor of Havana about February 1, 1764

This biographical sketch has been prepared mainly from letters and other documents now in the possession of the author and Mrs. Heloise H. Cruzat, of New Orleans, both descendants of John Innerarity. Those papers are survivals of the records of Panton, Leslie & Co. and its successor, John Forbes & Co., which have been preserved by John Innerarity and his family. Selections from them will appear continuously in many issues of the QUARTERLY. As William Panton and his partners and successors were the foremost merchants and Indian traders of the entire Southern country, these records are of great value. Historical …
