Give Peace A Chance: Responses To The Vietnam War On Catholic College Campuses, Elizabeth Gleason
Give Peace A Chance: Responses To The Vietnam War On Catholic College Campuses, Elizabeth Gleason
History & Classics Undergraduate Theses
Throughout the 1960s and early 1970s, colleges and universities were at the center of the anti-Vietnam War movement in the United States. While there were certainly moments of tense, violent protest at American institutions such as Columbia University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, there were many more moments of nonviolent, peaceful protest at other institutions, particularly Catholic colleges and universities such as Providence College, Notre Dame University, and its sister school St. Mary’s College. While Catholic college students were not the only American students to employ peaceful methods of protest in conveying their opposition to the war, they comprised a …

Using Nominal Group Technique Among Resident Physicians To Identify Key Attributes Of A Burnout Prevention Program, Vicki Nelson
Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects
Physician burnout is a work-related syndrome characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and a sense of reduced personal accomplishment. It is present in epidemic proportions and is estimated to occur in over 50% of practicing physicians and in up to 89% of resident physicians. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to generate an understanding of burnout prevention attribute preferences within a resident physician population using Nominal Group Technique (NGT). …

A Rhetorical History Of Black Studies: Black Power & Epistemology, Kayla Corbin
A Rhetorical History Of Black Studies: Black Power & Epistemology, Kayla Corbin
Honors Theses
In this thesis, using my own experiences and research, I will map out a rhetorical history of Black studies and its relationship with the Black Power Movement in the late 1960s. Using Foucault’s method of genealogy, I will highlight the distinct epistemological assumptions that inform Black studies as a discipline by looking at the material conditions and moment in which the discipline was created. In order to do this, my thesis will interrogate three interrelated discourses of Black studies at the university level: first, the larger history of student activism and its relation to Black studies; second, my own approach …
