Secure Peer-To-Peer Messaging Using Distributed Servers, Jack Stoller

Traditional messaging systems that rely on centralized infrastructure often introduce three security vulnerabilities: single points of failure susceptible to availability attacks, metadata leakage, and man-in-the-middle attacks.

This project designs, implements, and validates a distributed peer-to-peer messaging system that addresses each of these concerns through architectural design. A consistent hash ring is used with virtual nodes to distribute user data across a mesh of connected nodes, eliminating centralized dependency on any single server. Message contents travel directly between browser clients over a WebRTC data channel secured with end-to-end DTLS encryption, bypassing the server infrastructure. This report details the project known as “The BRRBOX”, a reusable, insulated thermoelectric cooler developed to keep internal temperatures at refrigeration levels or cooler for at least 48 hours. The cooler will track its internal temperature during this period and be able to give the data at the end of its delivery cycle to keep up with food and pharmaceutical standards during delivery. The BRRBOX uses Peltier-based cooling alongside vacuum insulation panels and fans to achieve efficient thermal control. An onboard microcontroller will monitor temperature, record the data, and adjust the cooling output to minimize power consumption. The box will …

The project we propose is an automated system for dispensing dosages of medication throughout the day. It will be able to alert a user when their pills need to be taken and give them the correct dosages of up to four different medications. These dosages are configurable as well as the scheduled time they are to be taken. In addition, the pill dispenser will alert users when they are low on medications and need to refill the machine.

This project focuses on designing an automated soil resetting system for extraterrestrial regolith simulation. The system will prepare a regolith simulant testbed to a desired, repeatable density, enabling reliable wheel–terrain testing for planetary rover research. Manual soil preparation currently exposes testers to hazardous particulates and produces inconsistent results.

The proposed system will integrate mechanical and control elements to reset the soil bed safely and efficiently. A combination of raking and vibrational methods will be explored, with feedback sensors and automation to achieve target density control. The practice of looting has existed almost as long as art itself. Although international law has bolstered its protections for art and cultural property in the context of armed conflict, significant enforcement issues remain.

The current framework for prosecuting the crime of looting does not adequately deter the practice, especially in instances that are unrelated to periods of armed conflict. Although pillage is treated as a war crime, all cases of looting—not just those that occur during war— should be viewed as a serious crime that threatens all nations. International law needs more teeth. This conclusion has been made painfully clear over the last four years as Russia has continued its war against Ukraine. Despite the fact that Russia’s actions blatantly violate international law’s prohibition on the use of force, and may violate additional provisions of the law of armed conflict, neither the International Court of Justice nor the international community have been able to end Russia’s assault through the non-military coercive measures allowed under international law. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 has forced Switzerland to reassess its long-standing policies on neutrality, highlighting the overall evolution of state neutrality occasioned by modern geopolitics. Since the end of the Cold War, collective security regimes, integrated economies, and multinational alliances have risen to prominence as vehicles for global prosperity and peace, as neutrality’s role in the international system has diminished. In place of traditional conceptions of neutrality, new theories of the practice have emerged allowing for countries to claim neutral status despite a lessening of their obligations and increased integration into global affairs. The influence of Investor-State Dispute Settlement (“ISDS”) on energy transition has sparked significant debate among commentators. While ISDS can theoretically protect sustainable investments from political risks, investors have extensively used it to challenge states’ energy transition policies. Against this backdrop, this paper tackles a critical yet overlooked question in the literature: how exactly has ISDS interfered with governmental regulatory activities concerning energy transition? Although the South African apartheid regime was first and foremost a race-based project, it was also a gendered project. The regime’s dystopian vision to entrench the systematic oppression of non-white people, particularly black people, was rooted in an ideological commitment not just to white supremacy, but to white male supremacy. The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) aspires to establish a unified market across Africa, integrating approximately 1.2 billion people and generating a cumulative Gross Domestic Product (GDP) exceeding US $3.4 trillion. A key challenge in this endeavor is the legal divergence among African nations, particularly the coexistence of monist and dualist legal systems, which affects the domestication and implementation of international treaties.

In dualist jurisdictions, international treaties require domestic legislative enactment before assuming legal force, a process that often results in delays and inconsistencies. This Article proposes an analytical framework for defining the contours of the emerging field of law and macroeconomics drawing on the International Monetary Fund’s principle of “macro-criticality.” Such a framework can help steer scholarly debate toward a clearer understanding of the relationship between law and the economy and inform policymaking within that domain. In its native context, the macro-criticality principle limits the IMF’s jurisdiction to policy areas that are critical for member countries’ domestic and external stability. In this article I demonstrate how I’ve brought my client advising skills into my work with law students. My work with law students is informed by my use of the client-centered lawyering model as adapted from my practice background. I will address how the skills of client-centered lawyering model translate remarkably well advising law students through what I call the law student-centered development model. This model of working with law students helps advisors train the next generation of lawyers in key lawyering skills through the modeling of those skills.

Climate change driven effects on the ocean, including warming water, acidification, and changes in the presence of harmful algal blooms (HABs) are causing metabolic pressures on marine organisms, particularly in the Gulf of Maine. Shellfish are susceptible to these pressures because their metabolic processes including growth and respiration are influenced by water temperature, pH, and consumption of algal toxins.
