Cultures and families are not static over time but evolve in response to social transformations, such as changing gender roles, urbanization, globalization, and technology uptake. Historically, individualism and collectivism have been widely used heuristics guiding cross-cultural comparisons, yet these orientations may evolve over time, and individuals within cultures and cultures themselves can have both individualist and collectivist orientations. The purpose of research and development is to produce an electronic module based on local wisdom and life skills. The product is developed according to the stages of the ADDIE model. The feasibility of the e-module is known from the results of expert validation, and an assessment of the attractiveness, practicality, and effectiveness of the product from users. The average validation results of material experts reached 89.5%, design experts 87%. An interactive multimedia-based digital module developed to improve students' mastery of concepts. This research uses research and development (R&D) methods with the ADDIE model. The ADDIE model consists of 5 stages, is analysis stage, design stage, development stage, implementation stage, and evaluation stage. Inferential statistical data analysis used paired sample t-test. The complex and adaptive nature of malignant neoplasm constitute a major challenge for the development of effective anti-oncogenic therapies. Emerging evidence has uncovered the pivotal functions exerted by the small leucine-rich proteoglycans, decorin and biglycan, in affecting tumor growth and progression. In their soluble forms, decorin and biglycan act as powerful signaling molecules. By receptor-mediated signal transduction, both proteoglycans modulate key processes vital for tumor initiation and progression, such as autophagy, inflammation, cell-cycle, apoptosis, and angiogenesis. Changes In The Nerve Conduction Of The Paretic Limb In Post-Stroke Patients, Basmah Ali, Zahraa Eldon Ismaeel, Mohammed Mohammed, Farqad Hamdan, Aqeel Hatim

BACKGROUND: Post-stroke motor sequelae can lead to an abnormal limb posture and decreased function that can ultimately increase the susceptibility of the peripheral nerves in that limb to compression, particularly within the early stages of stroke. OBJECTIVE: To study nerve conduction in paretic and non-paretic extremity in patients with the first ever-one stroke and to relate these parameters with MRC (Medical Research Council) scale. METHODS: Twenty-three patients aged 31-62 years and duration of illness of 3 and 6 months were studied. Thirteen had right hemiparesis and 10 with left hemiparesis. MRC scale was ≥3 in 17 and <2 in 6 patients. RESULTS: The median and peroneal distal motor latencies (DML) were prolonged and the peroneal compound muscle action potential (CMAP) amplitude was reduced in the paretic as compared to the non-paretic side. The combined sensory index and the lumbrical/interosseous muscles comparison methods revealed significant differences between the paretic as compared to the non-paretic side. Median distal sensory latency (DSL), DML, motor conduction velocity (MCV), and peroneal CMAP amplitude of the paretic limb were significantly different between those with ≥3 and those with <2 MRC scale. In the non-paretic upper limbs, the DSL and DML were significantly prolonged in those with <2 MRC when compared to those with ≥3 MRC. CONCLUSION: Post-stroke entrapment neuropathy may develop, along with axonal neuropathy symptoms in patients with severe paresis. The more severely affected limbs, the more severe electrophysiologic changes.

To address the disproportionate burden of preterm birth (PTB) in low- and middle-income countries, this study aimed to (1) verify the performance of the United States-validated spontaneous PTB (sPTB) predictor, comprised of the IBP4/SHBG protein ratio, in subjects from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Tanzania enrolled in the Alliance for Maternal and Newborn Health Improvement (AMANHI) biorepository study, and (2) discover biomarkers that improve performance of IBP4/SHBG in the AMANHI cohort.

Potential Benefits Of A Minimal Dose Eccentric Resistance Training Paradigm To Combat Sarcopenia And Age-Related Muscle And Physical Function Deficits In Older Adults, Sara A. Harper, Brennan J. Thompson

The ability of older adults to perform activities of daily living is often limited by the ability to generate high mechanical outputs. Therefore, assessing and devloping maximal neuromuscular capacity is essential for determining age-related risk for functional decline as well as the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions. Interventions designed to enhance neuromuscular capacities underpinning maximal mechanical outputs could positively impact functional performace in daily life. Unfortunately, < 10% of older adults meet the current resistance training guidelines. It has recently been proposed that a more "minimal dose" RT model may help engage a greater proprotion of older adults, so that they may realize the benefits of RT. Eccentric exercise offers some promising qualities for such an approach due to its efficiency in overloading contractions that can induce substantial neuromuscular adaptations. When used in a minimal dose RT paradigm, eccentric-based RT may be a particularly promising approach for older adults that can efficiently improve muscle mass, strength, and function capacities and overall health is through heightened exercise tolerance which would favor greater exercise participation in older adult populations. Therefore, our perspective article will discuss the implications of using a minimal dose, submaximal (i.e., low intensity) multi-join eccentric resistance training paradigm as a potentially effective, and yet currently underutilized, means to efficiently improve neuromuscular capacities and function for older adults.
