Using two groups divided based on gender and sexual orientation, participants responded to the Rape Attitudes Belief Scale (RABS) and the Men’s Objectification of Women Scale (MOWS). Veganic agriculture, often described as farming that is free of synthetic and animal-based inputs, represents an alternative to chemical-based industrial agriculture and the prevailing alternative, organic agriculture, respectively. Despite the promise of veganic methods in diverse realms such as food safety, environmental sustainability, and animal liberation, it has a small literature base. This article draws primarily on interviews conducted in 2018 with 25 veganic farmers from 19 farms in the United States to establish some baseline empirical research on this farming community. AABA form was in decline in popular music in the 1960s, yet the Rolling Stones made extensive use of it at a crucial point in their career. In this article I examine the relationship between Jagger-Richards AABA songs released between 1963 and 1971 and established AABA norms. I use a corpus of 138 AABA songs (112 by other artists and 26 by Jagger-Richards) to compare the Stones’ approach to elements such as starting and ending bridge harmonies and verse melodic form with existing defaults. The population for this study included individuals who provided application data to an MSN CRNA program between the years 2014 and 2018. Large-eddy simulation (LES) is a computationally viable strategy to study particle-laden turbulent flows in practically relevant configurations, although modeling challenges need to be addressed for improved predictive capabilities. In this study, we perform a comprehensive assessment of subgrid-scale (SGS) models for LES by considering a two-way coupled particle-laden turbulent flow over a backward-facing step. We consider dynamic eddy viscosity, wall-adapting local eddy viscosity (WALE), and dynamic one-equation models for the closure of the SGS stress tensor, and the random walk (RW) and the differential filter (DF) based models for the subgrid dispersion. This research develops and implements a method for decoupling real-time power networks using general-purpose personal computers. The industry of real-time simulation of power networks is mature, with few prominent players dominating the market. The implementation, however, is limited to specialized high-end hardware and software. This endeavor serves researchers and small-scale users interested in investigating real-time applications without making a significant investment. The methodology sheds additional light on the inner workings of real-time computing, particularly parallel processing via approaches like those published in scientific papers. This work investigates some of the bus indicators for the problem of voltage stability. The purpose is to learn more about the behavior and to observe the factors that cause mis-ranking in estimating the stability margin. Three indicators are examined, the L-index, the coupled-port method, and the P-index. it found that the L-index does not have a reliable alarm level, and when flagged with an alarm used for the P-index, it shows a large variation of the estimation accuracy across systems. Research often focuses on the relationship between sex and fear of crime with findings consistently demonstrating that women are more fearful of being victimized compared to men (Lane et al., 2009). One major challenge is to efficiently convert large volumes of time-lapse images into quantitative measurements of yeast cell lifespan measurements. To address these issues, we developed several deep learning methods to analyze a large number of images collected from microfluidic experiments. Objectives: We hypothesised that one or more of the non-antibiotic candidates selected for this study would demonstrate antibiotic activity against Staphylococcus aureus.

Methods: We determined minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) and minimum bactericidal concentrations (MBCs) for non-antibiotic drugs (amlodipine, azelastine, ebselen and sertraline) against five clinical S. aureus isolates and one quality control strain using the Microplate Alamar Blue Assay (MABA). Our research group selected clinical isolates obtained from nasal and wound swab cultures of patients with skin and soft-tissue infections who were seen at primary care clinics in the South Texas Ambulatory Research Network (STARNet).

Temperate bat species use extended torpor to conserve energy when ambient temperatures are low and food resources are scarce. Previous research suggests that migratory bat species and species known to roost in thermally unstable locations, such as those that roost in trees, are more likely to remain active during winter. However, hibernating colonies of cave roosting bats in the southeastern United States may also be active and emerge from caves throughout the hibernation period. To evaluate structural profiles and mechanical behaviour of WaveOne Gold (WOG), Twisted File Adaptive (TFA) and XP-endo shaper (XPS) instruments after root canal preparation. Standardized in vitro shaping was performed in presence of 5.25% sodium hypochlorite. File morphology was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy; X-ray diffraction analysis was performed before and after use along with Raman spectroscopy. We examined the involvement of the P2 × 7 receptor and the canonical and noncanonical inflammasomes in the control of single-species or dual-species infection by the periodontal bacteria Porphyromonas gingivalis and Fusobacterium nucleatum in cells and mice. Stimulation of the P2 × 7 receptor leads to activation of the canonical NLRP3 inflammasome and activation of caspase-1, which leads to cleavage of pro-IL-1β to IL-1β, a key cytokine in the host inflammatory response in periodontal disease. The non-canonical inflammasome pathway involves caspase-11. Thus, wildtype (WT), P2 × 7^−/−, caspase-11^−/− and caspase-1/11^−/− mice were co-infected with both bacterial …

Catatonia is a syndrome that has been associated with several mental illness disorders but that has also presented as a result of other medical conditions. Schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders such as mania and depression are known to be associated with catatonia; however, several case reports have been published of certain medical conditions inducing catatonia, including hypo-natremia, cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, and liver transplantation. Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome and anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis are also prominent causes of catatonia. Using an experimental setting, this paper examines the impact of the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS 9) expected credit loss (ECL) approach on accounting conservatism. The ECL approach enables banks to incorporate loan loss provisions (LLP) on a timelier basis and help bank regulators anticipate weaknesses in banks’ loan portfolios. Conversely, the ECL model could be more susceptible to managerial discretion. More conservative bank managers might make excessivecredit provisions. Our findings show that high conservatism is positively associated with higher levels of LLP. In addition, the effect of accounting conservatism is contingent upon the type of loan loss model. We …
