Quantum Correlations Using Classical Detectors, Chamithri Adikarige Dec 2021

Quantum Correlations Using Classical Detectors, Chamithri Adikarige

Theses

Single photons are vital to quantum computing, information processing, and transportation. Popular single-photon experiments are one or two-photon interference, classification of the light source, and characterization of detectors. Currently, the most efficient detector in the telecom wavelength is the Superconducting Nanowire detector. How- ever, experiments have been successful in demonstrating single-photon measurements can be done with unconventional detectors. One such method employed an EMCCD camera to observe spatial correlations between pixels with single photons. This thesis aims to test non-single photon-counting PIN photodetectors to observe time-correlation measurement. The improved detection model uses a high-resolution 2GHz oscilloscope and a cross-correlation algorithm. …

On Variational Inequalities And Their Application To The Obstacle Problem., M. Amer

Mansoura Engineering Journal

In this paper some existence results for the solution to the so called variational inequalities in real Banach space are established. Application of the established results to the obstacle problem, the prototype of many other moving and free boundary problems, is studied. We first investigate the case of an elastic string, then we extend our study in a natural way to the case of an elastic membrane stretched over a smooth obstacle.

Well Design And Influence Of Ground Water Level On Pump Performance., Abdel-Razik Zidan Dec 2021

Well Design And Influence Of Ground Water Level On Pump Performance., Abdel-Razik Zidan

Mansoura Engineering Journal

A deep water well of 600 m depth was designed and drilled in the farm, college of agriculture Al-Qassim, fourteen stages turbine pump was selected. to be installed on this well, according to the total head and water discharge required for irrigation. A severe decline of ground water level will not provide the required water discharge and total head even if the pump works under its maximum speed. This could make a trouble shooting or damage to the pump unless its column pipe length will be increased to deal with the existing water level.

Neural Networks Applied To Grading Of Cup-Disk Ratio In Glaucomatous Cases., A. Tolba, S. Sitteen

Mansoura Engineering Journal

Automatic measurement of cup-disc ratio is a challenging problem. This problem could be efficiently solved with a neural network based learning technique. The eye signature renders the measurement of this ratio a tedious task. The physicians prepared maps for grading of this ratio. These maps classify the development of disease in a human eye in nine stages as shown in Figure 1. Neural networks and their solution time is very strongly dependent upon the initial random values of the synaptic connections and the order of pattern presentation to the input layer. Therefore it was necessary to study this phenomena and …

Inverse Steady Heat Conduction In A Two-Dimensional Composite Media., Mohammed Mosaad

Mansoura Engineering Journal

In the present paper, an exact analytic approach is obtained for solving inverse problems of steady, two-dimensional, heat conduction in a composite, plane or cylindrical media, by developing analytic methods of solving inverse problems for single-wall geometric shapes : plane wall and hollow cylinder. The present method is further extended to treat the problem if the composite media involves internal heat generation. Solved examples are presented to demonstrate application of the proposed method as well prove its validity.

Real-Time Model-Reference Control Of Non-Linear Processes., Kamel Soliman

Mansoura Engineering Journal

This paper demonstrates a strategy for the design and implementation of model reference controllers. The design technique is based on constructing an error vector between the plant measurable states and the states of the proposed controller, then forcing the gradient of this error vector to be negative via the use of a suitable Liapunov function. The suggested design procedure is applicable for non-linear processes without any need to carry out linearization approximations. A simulated two degrees of freedom robot arm is used to exemplify the suggested technique, A few practical considerations are then addressed to investigate the causality of the …
