Journal of Metals, Materials and Minerals

Thermodynamic calculations have been carried out for growing crystalline Si1-xGex solid solution epitaxial films on Si<100> and Si<111> substrates from a tin solution-melt by liquid-phase epitaxy. Nanoclusters are thought to be involved in crystal growth. To determine the optimal conditions for obtaining a Si1-xGex crystal from a Si-Ge-Sn solution system, we focused on the change in Gibbs energy and the size of the nanoclusters involved in crystal formation. On this basis, a film with a thickness of 5 µm to 8 µm was experimentally obtained in the temperature range from Тc.s.=1135 K (crystallization start temperature) to Тc.t.=1023 K (crystallization termination …

The effects of the double intercritical annealing (DIA) method were investigated via microstructure observation and tensile test, and then compared with the single intercritical annealing (SIA) method. By increasing the intercritical annealing temperature, yield and tensile strengths increase while ductility decreases primarily due to the increase of martensite fraction. DIA leads to a slight reduction of the ferrite size and the martensite fraction regardless of the intercritical annealing temperature. Tensile results showed that DIA increases ductility without losing significant amount of strength. …

Articles

In this chapter we are going to talk about some of the automobile effects that it has had. Upon the law, and some of the effects that the law has had upon the automobile. We could undoubtedly open up some worthwhile lines of thought, if we talked about the automobile in relation to, certain brooder problems of which it is a part: for example, the effects of the internal combustion the growth engine, or of all types of communication. But we shall have enough on our hands if we stick to the automobile, and even so in the limits of …

A Second Chance At Choice?: Challenging Abortion “Reversal” As Law And Medical Practice, Christen Hammock Jones

American University Journal of Gender, Social Policy & the Law

Introduction.

I felt like my soul was crying and pleading with the Lord on behalf of my baby’s life. I know God heard my prayer because Elizabeth called me back with the answer to my prayers: Patsy and Willie from the San Juan Diego center. I went to see Patsy the next morning at 7 am, less than 12 hours since I took the first pill. Of course, I was nervous, but I decided I had to trust the solution that God had provided me with. The morning I was scheduled to go and see Patsy, she called me and …

Evolving Beyond Reasonable Accommodations Towards "Off-Shelf Accessible" Workplaces And Campuses, Karla Gilbride Jan 2022

Evolving Beyond Reasonable Accommodations Towards "Off-Shelf Accessible" Workplaces And Campuses, Karla Gilbride

American University Journal of Gender, Social Policy & the Law

One of the hallmarks of the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), which prohibits discrimination in the workplace on the basis of disability, is that it defines “discrimination” to include “not making reasonable accommodations to the known mental or physical limitations of an otherwise qualified individual with a disability.” This concept of reasonable accommodation was seen as innovative in two ways. It recognized that employers must sometimes take affirmative steps or make adaptations to afford individuals with disabilities an equal opportunity to apply for and perform jobs. And it identified the failure to take such affirmative steps as a type of …

The Effects Of Acute Aerobic Exercise On Motor Cortex Activation And Piano Performance, Maya Deuso Jan 2022

The Effects Of Acute Aerobic Exercise On Motor Cortex Activation And Piano Performance, Maya Deuso

Honors Program Theses

Previous research has shown that an acute (single) bout of aerobic exercise performed immediately before a fine motor task can improve the performance of that particular task as well as alter motor cortex (M1) activation. However, the intensity of exercise may influence the extent of motor skill acquisition and M1 activation. The primary aim of the current investigation was to compare the impact of moderate-intensity training (MIT) and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on whole-body motor skill acquisition via a piano task. We also aimed to determine if M1 activation was a potential mechanism for any changes in piano performance. Nine …
