Prediction Of Carbon Emissions And Analysis Of Influencing Factors In Urban Areas Considering Electricity Consumption In Key Industries, Xing Deng, Wenjun Chen, Pu Wang
Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology
In the context of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality", carbon emission accounting results are an important basis for the government to formulate carbon emission reduction policies. Due to the difficulty in obtaining data required by regional carbon emission calculation, traditional calculation methods depending on these data have weak applicability and low accuracy for carbon emission calculation in urban areas. To this end, a method for predicting carbon emissions and analyzing influencing factors in urban areas considering the electricity consumption in key industries is proposed. The conversion relationship of electricity, energy, and carbon emissions in the regional key enterprises, residential buildings, …

Reliable Scheduling Of Electric Vehicles Based On User Response Credibility Assessment, Qin Wang, Jian Zhao, Haoyang Cui
Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology
Grid dispatch centers can achieve orderly dispatch of electric vehicle (EV) demand response by signing demand response agreements with EV users. However, EV users may violate the agreements by ending charging behaviour early or misreporting dispatchable loads, which affects the effectiveness of the grid scheduling strategy. To improve the reliability of the grid scheduling strategy, a reliable EV scheduling strategy based on user response credibility assessment is proposed. First, the influencing factors of EV user response credibility are analysed, and an evaluation index model of EV user response credibility is constructed from the aspects of integrity, compliance, and support. Second, …

Design And Development Of Non-Contact Ma-Class Tunneling Magnetoresistance Current Sensor With High Performance, Jicheng Yu, Feng Zhou, Xiaodong Yin, Changxi Yue, Siyuan Liang, Jiaqi Zhang, Jiale Liu, Lei Li, Xiaoxu Hu
Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology
Timely and accurate monitoring of leakage current is the foundation for achieving insulation monitoring and fault early warning of electrical equipment and ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid. With the wide application of renewable energy and power electronic equipment, the measurement of leakage current needs to achieve mA-level accurate measurement without affecting the normal operation of equipment. Tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) technology senses the magnetic field generated by the current to be measured through the quantum tunneling effect. Its unique material structure endows it with ultra-low power consumption and weak current detection capabilities, providing core support for …

Low-Carbon Demand Response Optim Ization Method For Integrated Energy System Based On Improved Car Bon Trading Mechanism, Xin Jin, Chao Li, Tingzhe Pan, Wei Zhou, Jiale Liu, Xinlei Cai
Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology
To address the problems that power customers lack motivation for carbon reduction and that the extensive existing energy consumption patterns prevent the full exploitation of carbon reduction potential on the user side and result in low energy utilization efficiency, an economic optimization method for integrated energy systems is proposed by incorporating a carbon trading mechanism. First, a stepped positive-negative carbon trading mechanism is introduced to guide users to reduce carbon emissions through financial profit and loss. A two-stage optimization is then applied to the power-to-gas device, and combined heat and power with an adjustable heat-to-power ratio is adopted to develop …

Simulation And Analysis Of Very Fast Transient Overvoltage In 1 000 Kv Gis, Shuheng Dan, Shunli Qiao
Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology
In gas insulated switchgear (GIS), very fast transient overvoltage (VFTO) is easily caused by disconnector operation. In order to simulate and analyze this electromagnetic transient phenomenon and its potential harm, the high-frequency oscillation zero-crossing factor is taken into account on the basis of the traditional method considering zero-crossing arc extinguishing logic. A detailed logical judgment process of arc extinguishing and arc reignition is proposed. A 1 000 kV GIS transient circuit model is constructed, and the simulation analysis on the model is carried out. The research results show that when the disconnector reignites the arc, the load side presents a …

Optimal Scheduling Method Of Cross-Regional Game Of Flexible Resources Under High Proportion Of Renewable Energy, Xiaofan Xie, Xiaobo He, Bo Liu, Xuejing Xiao, Guozhou Xiao, Po Hu
Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology
Flexible mutual assistance in resources can be achieved among power grids in different regions, and regions with a high proportion of renewable energy can obtain flexible resources from other regions to ensure the safe and flexible operation of the power grid. Based on this, a cross-regional optimal scheduling method of multivariate flexible resources is proposed considering Stackelberg game. Firstly, the flexible adjustment demand of wind, solar, and other renewable energy and the flexible supply capacity of the typical flexible resources in the source, load, and storage are quantitatively analyzed. An upper-level optimization model for multi-agents within a region is constructed …
Gardening As A Psychosocial Well-Being Activity For Adults: Integrating Eco-Wellness And Developmental Theory, Christopher T. Belser, Helene Tavormina, Ann O'Hanlon
Gardening As A Psychosocial Well-Being Activity For Adults: Integrating Eco-Wellness And Developmental Theory, Christopher T. Belser, Helene Tavormina, Ann O'Hanlon
Adultspan Journal
Prior research has demonstrated the myriad of benefits that gardening can offer individuals, ranging from physical, mental, emotional, and social benefits. Though the counseling literature has begun to address the nature-wellness connection via EcoWellness theory (Reese & Myers, 2012), little attention has been paid to the benefits of gardening as a psychosocial well-being activity for adult populations. In this manuscript, authors offer a conceptual framework built on EcoWellness theory, psychosocial development theory, life-span, life-space career theory, and selection, optimization, and compensation theory that contextualizes gardening as a beneficial activity for young adults, middle adults, and older adults. Authors present specific …

Background: Targeted treatment or immunotherapy may yield increased, durable responses for melanoma patients. Whether patient-level benefits translate to population health is unknown. This study sought to estimate patient and population impacts of a cancer control policy that reimbursed multigene panel testing and pembrolizumab for metastatic melanoma in British Columbia, Canada.
Methods: This retrospective study examined a population-based cohort of 721 adults diagnosed with metastatic melanoma in British Columbia who received single or multigene testing between 2013 and 2018. We determined patient-level policy impacts using 1:1 genetic algorithm matching of policy-affected patients with historical control patients and Kaplan-Meier analysis and inverse …
Penalty Box: The Eighth Amendment’S Role In The Fbar Penalties Game, Tessa B. Walter
Penalty Box: The Eighth Amendment’S Role In The Fbar Penalties Game, Tessa B. Walter
Georgia State University Law Review
A sharp disagreement has emerged among federal circuit courts regarding the application of the Eighth Amendment’s Excessive Fines Clause to penalties for failing to file a Foreign Bank Account Report (FBAR). This has created legal uncertainty for individuals with foreign financial interests. The resulting circuit split leads to disparate outcomes, where the constitutionality of a penalty is dependent on the jurisdiction in which it is challenged.
The divergence in judicial opinion centers on a fundamental question: Whether the substantial civil penalties for willful FBAR violations constitute a punitive “fine” or a remedial measure intended to compensate the government. The statutory …

Dynamics Of The Airborne Phase In Discus Throwing, Andreas Maheras
Dynamics Of The Airborne Phase In Discus Throwing, Andreas Maheras
Track and Field Faculty Publications
From a mechanics point of view, the execution of the airborne phase in discus throwing can affect the execution of the delivery phase, and eventually the distance thrown. It is not very important to minimize the time it takes to complete the airborne phase or how fast the thrower turns in the middle. The important element in this phase is to create the conditions for a quick planting of the left foot in the front of the ring, while at the same time keeping the shoulder axis towards the thrower's right in the final double support phase. That, can be …
Numerical Modeling Of The Magnetic Vector Potential And The Associated Electromagnetic Momenta, John Adams, Christopher L. Duston
Numerical Modeling Of The Magnetic Vector Potential And The Associated Electromagnetic Momenta, John Adams, Christopher L. Duston
Physics Faculty Publications
The idea that the magnetic vector potential A is associated with stored electromagnetic momenta dates back to Maxwell himself. Here, we present numerical modeling results that illustrate the connection between A and associated linear and angular electromagnetic momenta, expanding on previous work which mostly considered examples that could be analytically solved. We first focus on a stationary point charge q interacting with the magnetic fields of a solenoid, separately calculating A(r) and the electromagnetic momentum added to the system in bringing q to r from a distant location where A ≈ 0. We then model the …

Institutionalizing Inclusive Education In East Africa: A Mixed-Methods Synthesis Of Pedagogical Impact And Teacher Professional Learning, Nyagwegwe Wango, Jane Rarieya
Institute for Educational Development, East Africa
East African teacher education reforms are placing a greater emphasis on inclusive and gender responsive pedagogy; yet, little research has been done on how these innovations are institutionalized outside of project cycles. In order to combine the results of two complimentary projects, the Strengthening Education Systems East Africa (SESEA) project and the Foundation for Learning (F4L) longitudinal research conducted in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, this study uses a comparative cross case synthesis design. Following the adoption of learner-centered and inclusive pedagogical practices, SESEA data shows moderate advances in numeracy and significant improvements in basic literacy. However, F4L evidence suggests that …

Strategic Plans And Their Contents: What Are The Important Issues In Higher Education?, Brent Graves, Fritz J. Erickson
Journal Articles
Strategic planning has become a virtual requirement in higher education management. Huge amounts of time, energy, and money are committed to the process by individuals representing every level in a university’s hierarchy. Despite widespread adoption and commitment, researchers have frequently questioned whether the content of these plans varies significantly among institutions, or if they are essentially interchangeable compendiums of buzzwords and cliches. Our study quantified the presence of various ideas, or themes, in strategic plans from 150 public higher education institutions in the United States. Our analyses provide evidence of what is important to strategic planners in higher education, where …

Motherly Love: A Critical Autoethnography On Identity Formation Through Mental Illness In Maternal Bonds, Ellie E. Monge
Motherly Love: A Critical Autoethnography On Identity Formation Through Mental Illness In Maternal Bonds, Ellie E. Monge
Communication Studies
This critical autoethnography is an examination of my personal narrative on how growing up with a mother with mental illness formed my identity as a woman, and as a daughter. I utilize the lens of communication scholarship to understand the effects that this interpersonal relationship had on communication patterns, and ideology. Through personal, and societal analysis the discourse adds to how gendered expectations of womanhood, motherhood, family communication patterns, and dominant mental health rhetoric shape identity for daughters raised in the absence of maternal stability. I implore Family Systems Theory, Family Communication Patterns Theory, Muted Group Theory, and scholarship on …
Engineering Enac Constructs To Examine Pip2 And Ubiquitin Competition On Enac Regulation And Stability, Lacie Johnson
Engineering Enac Constructs To Examine Pip2 And Ubiquitin Competition On Enac Regulation And Stability, Lacie Johnson
Chemistry & Biochemistry Undergraduate Honors Theses
The epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) plays a critical role in sodium homeostasis, fluid balance, and blood pressure regulation. ENaC activity is tightly controlled by post-translational mechanisms, including ubiquitination-mediated degradation and phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) dependent channel activation. PIP2 is a phospholipid necessary to facilitate the maximal channel opening. Previous studies suggest that intracellular PIP2 binding sites are located in proximity to ubiquitination sites on ENaC subunits, raising the possibility of PIP2 binding to influence channel stability and function. This thesis aimed to engineer and validate molecular tools capable of examining the interplay between PIP2 binding and ubiquitination in ENaC regulation. A …
