The U.S. government has long surveilled immigrant communities by collecting identifying information, including biometric data. The passage of the DNA Fingerprint Act of 2005 expanded the possible sources of data to include DNA. In 2020, the Trump administration seized on the permissive language of the statute to require that DNA be collected from nearly every noncitizen detained by the federal government. Now, 2.6 million noncitizens and counting have their DNA permanently stored by the federal government. This interview centers on A Matter of Detail, a collaborative volume that brings anthropology and philosophy into conversation through a shared concern with the concept and practice of detailing. Structured in three movements, the discussion begins with broad, conceptual questions about the aims of the book, including its refusal of a teleological and Eurocentric history of “detail” and its proposal to approach detail not as a fixed object but as a dynamic mode of attention. The Second Amendment, Illegal Aliens, And The Bruen Test: Defending The Constitutionality Of 18 U.S.C. § 922(G)(5), Ian Duncan

This Note examines the constitutionality of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(5), which prohibits unlawful aliens from possessing firearms, under the Supreme Court’s text-and-history framework announced in New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass’n, Inc. v. Bruen and developed further in United States v. Rahimi. In the wake of Bruen, lower courts have fractured over how strictly to demand historical analogues and how to treat longstanding status-based restrictions in § 922, including prohibitions on possession by felons, domestic-violence offenders, and noncitizens. Against that backdrop, this Note argues that § 922(g)(5) is constitutionally sound.

A nonenzymatic conductivity-based glucose biosensor, reported here, designed for potential noninvasive measurement in accessible biofluids such as saliva, sweat, and tears. The sensor exploits a classic Tollens’ silvering process that deposits metallic silver on a sensitized surface via a quantitative, selective reduction of silver ions by glucose. Of the two surface sensitization methods used, the self-assembled bifunctional thiol/silane surfactant yields a more stable and sensitive sensor than tin(II) chloride. The conductometric sensor consists of two spiral interdigitated silver electrodes fabricated by lithography and wet etching. The sensor impedance changes after selective metallic silver deposition between the electrodes. The sensor exhibits …

Understanding the heterogeneity of neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and identifying distinct progression pathways is critical for improving diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and prevention. Motivated by this need, this study aimed to identify disease progression subphenotypes among patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and AD using electronic health records (EHRs). We developed a novel approach that combines a graph neural network (GNN)-based framework with time series clustering to characterize progression subphenotypes from MCI to AD. Human trafficking is an abhorrent human rights violation, and victims experience a myriad of health disturbances while being exploited. Victims often seek emergency medical care, but research consistently shows that emergency medical personnel (EMP) are largely unprepared to screen, identify, and respond to them. However, there has been no research exploring their preparedness to screen, identify, and respond to victims of human trafficking, the barriers and challenges to identification of human trafficking victims, and training needs to improve screening, identification, and response to human trafficking victims in North Dakota. Introduction
Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) is a holistic, organizational framework that recognizes the widespread impact of trauma and emphasizes creating safe, supportive, and empowering environments. There is a lack of standardized and evidence-based approaches for delivering TIC education in graduate nursing programs. This project aims to examine current practices and enhance the delivery of TIC education for nursing students.

A scoping review was conducted to map the existing literature on trauma-informed nursing education in higher education settings. Purpose ASP9801, an oncolytic virus encoding interleukin-7 and interleukin-12, was assessed for safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and antitumor activity in patients with advanced solid tumors in a Phase 1 study. Methods The study comprised Part 1 ASP9801 monotherapy dose escalation and Part 2 dose expansion with ASP9801 monotherapy or plus pembrolizumab. Each part was divided into Groups A (ASP9801 injection into cutaneous/subcutaneous lesions) and B (ASP9801 injection into visceral lesions). Primary objectives were safety and maximum tolerated dose and/or recommended Phase 2 dose expansion (RP2D); secondary objectives included antitumor activity and pharmacokinetics. Large Language Models (LLMs) have rapidly entered consumer-facing health information platforms, yet their reliability for patient education remains uncertain. Otolaryngology involves complex surgical procedures where clear perioperative counseling is essential for patient understanding and safety. This project evaluates whether LLMs can provide accurate and readable answers to common perioperative questions for septoplasty and cochlear implant procedures. We hypothesized that LLMs would generate accurate responses with readability levels appropriate for patients, with ChatGPT performing best.

Large Language Models (LLMs) have been previously utilized in the medical field to successfully generate information. However, LLMs may hallucinate, which generates a response based on false or misleading information. This can negatively impact healthcare outcomes, thus, there is an increasing need to develop a model free of hallucinations.

A multi-target voting ensemble (Random Forest with HistGradientBoosting) algorithm was utilized in the analysis of 454 training data and 114 test data. Raw accuracy and macro-F1 statistics determined that the model is capable of identifying clinically meaningful data for majority classes, while minority-class detection was insignificant. Introduction— Current noninvasive assessment of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) relies primarily on MRI-based fat quantification, such as proton density fat fraction (PDFF). This study explored the use of an MRI radiomics–based machine learning approach for accurate patient-level classification of NAFLD.

Methods— Liver MRI images from patients with suspected NAFLfD were retrospectively analyzed. Radiomics features were extracted using PyRadiomics from full-liver masks across 4–6 axial slices per patient. Slice-level features were aggregated to the patient level using summary statistics (mean, median, and standard deviation). Introduction: Heart failure (HF) affects millions in the U.S., yet guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) and the supportive utilization of EHR-based clinical decision support systems (CDSS) for uptake remain underexplored. This project evaluated whether CDSS implementation increased GDMT prescribing at discharge for patients with HFrEF/HFimpEF.

Methods: The analysis included HF patients discharged from 11 hospitals on our enterprise EHR (Epic) from July 2023 to June 2025. Data was extracted from an automated data platform (Qlik). Purpose: Between 2009-2017, there was an average of 42,847 emergency department (ED) visits per year for unintentional nonfatal gun injuries. Current literature shows gun locks are effective in preventing unintentional gun-related injuries. We hypothesize that cancer screening outreach events with community health workers are an effective manner of distributing gun locks and the distribution of gun locks results in behavior modification towards utilization of safe storage practices.
