Introducing A Test Of Audience And Message: A Strategic Reassessment Of Wmd Non-State Terrorism, Brianne Bernhardt
Introducing A Test Of Audience And Message: A Strategic Reassessment Of Wmd Non-State Terrorism, Brianne Bernhardt
Student Research Symposium (SRS)
Defense and intelligence communities continue to face the persistent challenge of assessing which non-state terrorist groups may employ weapons of mass destruction (WMD). With an overwhelming influx of information, this question remains difficult for analysts to answer with precision. Existing non-state terrorist WMD threat assessment models tend to rely on post-hoc analysis or speculative forecasting and lack scalable, data-driven frameworks for proactive evaluation. This paper addresses that gap by proposing an empirical testing of a theoretical model by Dr. Daniel Gressang, which suggests that determining three key variables—a group’s audience, message, and societal relationship—may allow analysts to assess the potential …

I Don’T Remember: Measuring The Frequency And Impact Of Source Recall In Misinformation Correction, Emily K. Vraga, Leticia Bode
I Don’T Remember: Measuring The Frequency And Impact Of Source Recall In Misinformation Correction, Emily K. Vraga, Leticia Bode
Newhouse Impact Journal
It is broadly established that source cues matter for establishing information credibility (Pornpitakpan, 2004). Therefore, it is hardly surprising that when thinking about methods to address and correct misinformation, many scholars have pointed to the importance of source cues (Cook et al., 2017; Lewandowsky & van der Linden, 2021; Literat et al., 2021; Shen et al., 2019). But this research is plagued by inconsistent findings about which kinds of sources tend to be the most effective correctors (e.g., Berinsky, 2023; van der Meer & Jin, 2020; Vraga & Bode, 2017). We argue that research has not adequately accounted for recall …

10 Ways To Think About How We Should Teach Ai, Margaret Talev
10 Ways To Think About How We Should Teach Ai, Margaret Talev
Newhouse Impact Journal
What, how and why should we teach our students about generative AI? This article reviews news coverage, reports, and announcements by schools, universities and companies to assemble a national snapshot, in 2025, of how K-12 schools and higher ed institutions already are developing AI instruction; the involvement of AI companies in educational partnerships and related considerations; and what employers, and workers, expect in terms of job trends and readiness.
Building Better Voters? Using Ai To Develop Civic Skills, Emily Sydnor
Building Better Voters? Using Ai To Develop Civic Skills, Emily Sydnor
Newhouse Impact Journal
Generative AI offers an opportunity for people to build a variety of civic skills outside of the traditional K-12 education system. In this paper, I test an AI chatbot's ability to provide me with relevant candidate and procedural information in advance of the 2025 Virginia gubernatorial elections. While the experience was overwhelmingly positive and could easily be adapted for naturalized citizens or American adults moving from state to state or to a new locality, it also highlights concerns about the possibility of hallucinations and reinforcement of existing inequalities in politics and society.

Face And Content Validation Analysis Of The Professional Pain Preparation Questionnaire For Use In Physical Therapist Education, Rodiel Kirby Baloy
Journal of Innovation in Health Sciences Education
Introduction: Physical therapy educational preparation for the management of individuals in pain may be determined based on the themes of: (1) level of academic preparation, (2) educational hours spent studying pain, including postgraduate training and certification, and (3) clinical experience. This study assessed the face and content validity of a tool, the Professional Pain Preparation Questionnaire (PPP-Q), to assess expert perception as to the value and relevance of each of the identified domains.
Methods: Twelve respondents were enlisted for face validity, and five experts were recruited for content validity. Descriptive statistics, specifically frequency and percentage, were used to describe …
