The growing need for lithium, primarily driven by the expanding electric car market and increasing energy storage requirements, has created a significant demand for sustainable and efficient lithium extraction techniques. This comprehensive review examines the current state and prospects of lithium extraction technologies from both hard-rock and brine sources, offering an enviro-economic perspective on various production methods. While several reviews have attempted to cover lithium extraction in various aspects, our work specifically focuses on the processes of lithium extraction from different sources. We systematically evaluate traditional hard-rock extraction processes, including sulfating, alkali, chlorination, and carbonizing methods, detailing their mechanisms, efficiencies, …

Jurnal Biostatistik, Kependudukan, dan Informatika Kesehatan

Keragaman pangan minimum atau minimum dietary diversity (MDD) merupakan indikator penting kualitas konsumsi pangan anak usia 6-23 bulan. Pemenuhan MDD berperan dalam mendukung pertumbuhan optimal dan pencegahan malnutrisi, termasuk stunting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan pemenuhan MDD pada anak usia 6-23 bulan di Indonesia. Data yang digunakan adalah data Survei Kesehatan Indonesia 2023 dengan desain potong lintang. Subjek penelitian adalah 17.991 anak usia 6-23 bulan. Analisis yang dilakukan menggunakan regresi logistik biner dengan penyesuaian desain complex samples. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor yang meningkatkan peluang pemenuhan MDD secara signifikan meliputi usia anak 12-23 bulan, …

Multimodal AI systems integrate computer vision, natural language processing, and knowledge representation. While deep learning has made immense advances in tasks such as Visual Captioning (VC) and Visual Question Answering (VQA), it is hard to decipher knowledge encoded within these models to verify, evaluate and explain the behavior of these models. In this dissertation, we propose to i) develop a probabilistic framework to evaluate uncertainty in captioning models using Markov Logic Networks (MLNs), a well-known statistical relational model ii) disentangle knowledge grained in fine-tuning from preexisting knowledge encoded in pre-trained captioning models using a Neuro-Symbolic extension of MLNs called Hybrid …

The issue at hand for this study is the lack of specifically designed support for graduate student veterans as they transition from military service in search of a job in the civilian workforce. A recent Department of Veteran Affairs study stated that in 2018, nearly 700,000 veterans used veteran educational benefits, with 52% of this group in undergraduate programs and 9% in graduate programs. Both undergraduate and graduate student veterans seek career opportunities, personal growth, improvement of economic status, and professional advancement, but how these groups approach achieving their goals is not the same. Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)

Significance – Healthcare workers are five times more likely to experience workplace violence than other industries, and 73% all non-fatal workplace violence injuries resulting in missed days of work occur in healthcare settings (OSHA, 2021). WPV costs facilities an estimated $428.5 million nationwide (Van Des Bos et al., 2017). WPV is attributed to burnout, decreased employee morale, increased absenteeism, and increased staff turnover, negatively impacting patient care (Somani et al., 2021).

Psychopathy is a complex disorder characterized by callousness, empathy deficits, and a lack of guilt. While psychopathy cannot be diagnosed until adulthood, these callous-unemotional (CU) traits emerge during early childhood. Interventions aimed at reducing these traits at an early age are generally more effective than treating adults. Literature regarding these child interventions is muddled, inconsistent, and highly limited by methodological challenges. This review synthesizes this conflicting body of research in an attempt to determine best practices. Traditional parent management training (PMT) evidenced mixed results, improving when modified to emphasize the use of positive reinforcement and parental warmth. Treatment gains were …

Maternal mortality remains a significant challenge in the United States with substantial variation across counties reflecting differences in health care delivery systems and access to obstetric services. Fragmented obstetric care networks, hospital closures, and geographic barriers to care contribute to delays in prenatal and emergency obstetric services, increasing the risk of preventable maternal deaths. Guided by the social determinants of health (SDOH) framework, this quantitative cross-sectional health services study examined relationships between transportation availability, obstetric care access, and county-level maternal mortality in the United States. This study evaluates the fiscal and academic consequences of New York City’s hold harmless policy during COVID-19, which aimed to stabilize school expenditures amid unexpected enrollment declines by restoring schools’ funding up to initial levels. We examine how school racial composition predicts whether or when schools receive hold harmless “treatment” and assess the impact of hold harmless on financial resources, staffing, and student outcomes, exploring heterogeneity by timing of policy announcement. Although schools with higher White student shares were no more likely than those with higher Hispanic or Black shares to receive hold harmless funds, schools with higher Black shares …
