Background

Septoplasty is frequently performed with functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), either during the same operative session or as a staged procedure. Whether same-day versus staged septoplasty with FESS is associated with differences in postoperative corticosteroid use or postoperative nasal polyp diagnosis remains unclear.

Objective

The study aimed to compare postoperative corticosteroid use and postoperative nasal polyp diagnosis after same-day versus staged septoplasty with FESS.

Methods

We performed a retrospective cohort study using the TriNetX U.S. Collaborative Network. Adults undergoing both septoplasty and FESS were categorized into same-day and staged cohorts, with staged procedures separated by at least 30 days. …

Aims: This narrative review explored nurses’ attitudes towards complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) use in cancer care. Design: The study design was a qualitative narrative review with meta-aggregation. Data sources: Published studies were identified via searching the following databases: Medline, CINAHL, Pubmed and AMED.Review methods: Four papers that met the inclusion criteria were appraised using the Critical Appraisal Skills Program Tool. The qualitative data was extracted and meta-aggregated into three synthesised findings. Military veterans are disproportionately exposed to potentially traumatic events across service eras. While much of the clinical and research literature has focused on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and symptom reduction, a growing body of work highlights the possibility of posttraumatic growth (PTG) following adversity. PTG refers to positive psychological changes that may emerge through engagement with traumatic experiences, including enhanced appreciation for life, renewed purpose, personal strength, deepened relationships, and reintegration into community roles. This policy analysis examines how two Colorado laws, House Bill 22-1374 (Foster Care Success Act), and Senate Bill 22-008 (Higher Education Support for Foster Youth), aim to improve educational outcomes and long-term stability for youth who age out of the foster care system. Critical Policy Analysis (CPA) and Resilience Theory are used in this paper to examine how these policies address systemic inequities, promote resilience, and offer protective factors that support educational attainment. Introduction: HIV continues to disproportionately affect Latinas in the U.S.(1) However, referrals to HIV testing and Preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) remain low (2). Telenovelas provides a culturally relevant platform for delivering health promotion to Latinas (3,4).

Aim. To assess the preliminary efficacy of Infectious Love (IL) to improve HIV prevention behaviors among Latinas.

Methods. 95 Latinas in North Carolina participated in a randomized controlled pilot study (n = 50 intervention, n = 45 control). Carceral perinatal care is the provision of coercive or punishing care by clinicians during the perinatal period (1). Whether intentional or driven by licensure/policy demands, clinicians have been implicated in the provision of punitive care for pregnant and parenting patients (1-4).

Purpose: The Do No Harm project aims to thoroughly understand carceral instances of clinical practices across the perinatal continuum of care to develop abolitionist solutions that are equitable, person-centred, and trauma-responsive. From Print to Film: Political Censorship and Nationalism in Nineteenth- and Twentieth-Century Central Europe examines the relationship between emerging media technologies, state censorship, and nationalist political movements in Central Europe. Focusing primarily on Austria, the German states, and Hungary, this article traces how governments employed increasingly sophisticated systems of press regulation to suppress nationalist and subversive political discourse while political actors developed their own methods for circumventing those restrictions. The article considers censorship of newspapers, satire, lithographs, and other printed materials before examining the transformative effects of cinema in the twentieth century. “Compromise with Lawlessness”: The Relationship between Lynching and the Death Penalty in Arkansas, 1895–1925 examines the complex relationship between extralegal lynching and state-sanctioned capital punishment in Arkansas during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. While existing scholarship often characterizes the decline of lynching and expansion of capital punishment as a straightforward substitution, this article argues that the Arkansas experience was more dynamic, with lynching and legal execution functioning as competing and sometimes complementary mechanisms for satisfying demands for racialized justice and social control.
