Tunable Gold Nanoparticle Synthesis Using Microfluidic Flow Focusing Enabled By Reusable 3d-Printed Multimaterial Connectors, Muhammad Mubashar Saeed, Bilal Javed, Eadaoin Carthy, Nicholas Dunne, David Kinahan

Research Outputs: 2025-Present

The design and fabrication of reusable, cost-effective, and leakage-resistant microfluidic connectors using a commercial multi-material 3D printer (Connex Objet 3D, Tri-Tech 3D, UK) is reported. The connectors, comprising plugs, adapters, and ports, were fabricated from VeroClear™ (rigid polymer) and incorporated TangoBlack (elastomeric soft polymer) as integrated ferrules and gaskets. This multi-material approach enabled the attachment of the connectors using physical locking mechanisms; thus eliminating the need for adhesives and so enabling reusability without mechanical failure. Vice President JD Vance continues to be the preferred candidate by far among likely Republican 2028 presidential primary voters in New Hampshire. On the Democratic side, Pete Buttigieg is the most popular candidate, followed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, and Mark Kelly. A majority support a New Hampshire state law requiring the state's presidential primary to be held before any similar contest, with Republicans most supportive. A majority of Granite Staters also support proposed federal legislation requiring photo ID to vote and proof of citizenship to register.

This review explored the application of chatbots in healthcare, focusing on patient monitoring, personalised care and medical services. It examined the potential of chatbots to improve patient outcomes through artificial intelligence-driven technologies, addressing challenges such as data security and system integration. This scoping review, conducted from January to March 2025, adhered to the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. A thorough literature search was performed across Web of Science, Scopus and PubMed, using keywords such as "patient care", "outcome", and "chatbot*". The arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus plays a central role in sensing and integrating nutritional, hormonal, and neural signals that regulate feeding, energy homeostasis, growth, and reproduction, all of which show pronounced sex differences. However, the cellular mechanisms underlying these responses remain poorly understood. We performed snRNA-seq of the mediobasal hypothalamus, focusing on the arcuate nucleus, in female and male mice under different nutritional states. Analysis of 42 cell types revealed that Agrp neurons were most sensitive to nutritional changes, dopaminergic neurons showed strong sex-specific differences, and KNDy neurons were highly responsive to both sex and nutrition. Background

“That’s just your perception” is a frequent response when told “That’s unprofessional.” Yet unprofessional behavior adversely affects individual learning and team functioning, while increasing avoidable patient complications and malpractice claims.   But what if professionalism is reframed as trust? Is there agreement on which behaviors would adversely affect trust; thus, providing a different way to approach this quagmire? Is the person competent with humility? Is reliable? Do they care about others (beneficence)? Using an established four component model of trust as a framework, we wondered if key GME stakeholders would agree on what were untrustworthy behaviors.

The First Department affirmed the Supreme Court's denial of the tenants' Article 78 petition challenging DHCR's grant of Major Capital Improvement (MCI) rent increases for a 2014 intercom replacement. The court deferred to DHCR's interpretation of former Rent Stabilization Code § 2522.4, which allows an MCI increase even within the useful life of an improvement if an MCI increase was not previously granted for that specific improvement. Finding DHCR's long-standing interpretation rational and consistent with precedent, the court concluded that the agency's determination was not arbitrary and capricious.

Objectives: People with intellectual disabilities (PwID) have higher prevalences of epilepsy and constipation than the general population. Constipation is having fewer than three bowel movements or requiring laxatives three or more times weekly. Both epilepsy and constipation contribute significantly to premature mortality. To manage constipation, many individuals are prescribed long-term laxatives, which serve as a surrogate indicator of constipation. PwID and epilepsy also have a high prevalence of multimorbidity and polypharmacy, particularly involving antiseizure medications (ASMs) and antipsychotics. Human sex ratios at birth (SRBs) shape population composition and are closely linked to maternal health and gender discrimination. In the context of environmental change, SRBs may theoretically be skewed by physiological or behavioral responses to exposure to extreme heat. However, evidence for this is limited. In this study, we estimate the effect of prenatal exposure to temperature on birth sex by linking survey data on 5 million live births in 33 sub-Saharan African countries and India with high-resolution temperature data. To distinguish between spontaneous and induced abortions, we exploit sociodemographic differentials, exposure timing, and regional differences in son preference. …

Large-scale digital recommendation systems may face challenges associated with data sparsity, which can make it difficult to provide relevant personalization for users with limited interaction history. The synthetic user interaction profiles can be generated using a generative model, such as a variational auto-encoder, to address such challenges. A variational auto-encoder may be trained on real user profiles to learn a compressed, probabilistic latent space representation of user-item interactions. New, statistically plausible user profiles can then be synthesized by sampling from this latent space and processing the samples through a decoder network. Mobile network stacks sometimes struggle to manage handovers effectively in hybrid environments where terrestrial networks (TN) and non-terrestrial networks (NTN) coexist. A mechanism that intelligently routes emergency calls (E911) on a mobile device capable of operating across heterogeneous networks such as Wi-Fi, terrestrial networks (TN), and non-terrestrial networks (NTN) can ensure a high call success rate and good voice quality. Objective: Use of vascular closure devices (VCDs) for femoral artery puncture site hemostasis has increased but their safety and efficacy have remained unclear. This study was designed to compare safety and efficacy of Obtura, Angioseal, and Proglide VCD to manual compression (MC) and also between for femoral artery haemostasis.
