By the end of the 1960s the underground press in the United States had grown exponentially from five publications in 1965 to hundreds by the end of the decade with a "combined readership that stretched into the millions."1 As the underground press movement flourished throughout the counterculture, this new radical media spread from college campuses to military towns across the country. By 1971, Pensacola, Florida, had joined a growing number of American cities with an underground newspaper. That paper was the Gulf Coast Fish Cheer.

Losing Lincoln: Black Educators, Historical Memory, And The Desegregation Of Lincoln High School In Gainesville, Florida, Kathryn Palmer

In 1979 Nat Tillman, a Lincoln High School (LHS) alumnus and one of the Gainesville Sun's first African-American columnists, penned an article advocating for the preservation of Lincoln's history as a "pioneer of black education in Florida." Tillman interviewed Eric Roberts, a member of Lincoln's first graduating class of 1925 about why Lincoln's history as a historically black high school "deserved to be preserved." Like many of Florida's black high schools closed during school integration efforts of the late 1960s and early 70s, Lincoln's roots stretch back to Reconstruction. Americans' dreams of empire appeared to become reality when the United States gained control over Florida in 1821. Yet although the U.S. controlled a significant portion of the Gulf Coast, the nation remained one among many foreign powers vying for dominance in the region, a fact that raised concerns about future expansion in the minds of many. As of 1821 the U.S. shared the coastline with a newly independent Mexico. Thus, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of different calculations (MAOD vs. AOD) on the anaerobic contribution using the dynamic knee extension. The purpose of the present study was to determine the relative importance of cognitive control, physical, psychological and sociological factors as well as lifestyle habits in predicting academic performance in high school students using cross sectional and longitudinal approaches. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the placebo effect of caffeine on 4 km running performance in amateur runners. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between running ground reaction force (GRF) characteristics and hip and lumbar spine bone mineral density (BMD) values in male runners. Individuals who ran at least 48.3 km per week and were injury-free were recruited. Kistler force plates collected running vertical and anteroposterior GRF data. A Hologic Discovery W bone densitometer measured lumbar spine and five regional hip BMD values. Only runners who consistently used a rear foot strike pattern were included (n = 32). Force plates are commonly used when assessing vertical jumping performance but are not always affordable or practical tools for all testing situations. Twenty-four participants volunteered to take part in a study investigating the agreement between bilateral force plates and a new commercially available contact mat that records jump height, flight-time (FT), and FT of individual limbs during both countermovement (CMJ) and squat (SJ) jumps. There are three approaches to dealing with tax incentives within common markets: permit them, limit them, or harmonize them. Broadly speaking, the United States (U.S.) follows the first approach, the European Union (EU) adopts the second, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) pursues the third by harmonizing some tax incentives, particularly those offered to the industrial sector. Unlike the U.S. and EU common markets, where incentives have gained significant scholarly attention, no academic literature exists on the legal framework of tax incentives in GCC common market.
