Drafting An Assessment Plan For Your Instruction Program: Sustainably Assessing Information Literacy In An Undergraduate Stem Course, Kevin Moore, Clinton K. Baugess

Assessing student learning across a library instruction program can be infeasible without being strategic, intentional, and realistic. Librarians at a small college will share how they developed a sustainable, 3-year assessment plan for the ACRL Framework and targeted a 100-level biology course-one of the two high-enrollment STEM courses that receive library instruction on their campus each year. The presenters will share their assessment plan, flipped instruction model, workflow-management strategies, and lessons learned for collaborating with STEM faculty to assess information literacy.

Prone To Success: The Effects Of Prone On Handwriting Legibility, Magdalene M. Pearl

This study was conducted to answer the question: “Does writing in prone result in more legible handwriting?” due to the prevalence of the prone position used in occupational therapy as a handwriting intervention and the lack of data supporting it. The study participants included 43 kindergarteners divided into an intervention group and control group based on convenience through classroom enrollment. The intervention or prone group did at least three prone activities a week for three weeks and the control group followed their normal handwriting curriculum. Spanish-English dual language learners living in the United States present an incredibly diverse and heterogeneous group. Many members of this community may experience a variety of communication disorders that must be addressed by speech-language pathologists and associated professionals. Currently, these children face many barriers to receiving proper speech and language services and care, including misidentification, miscommunication with caregivers, and inappropriate intervention methods. “COVID brain,” a term coined by those who survived COVID-19 and still feel the lasting effects, ultimately raises the question of what COVID-19 is doing to the brain, specifically the executive functions. There have been little to no studies done to examine the relationship between post-COVID-19 and the brain. The current study examines whether COVID-19 leaves a long-lasting effect on processing speed, even after the person has recovered from the virus. Disaster resiliency is the ability of individuals and communities to anticipate, cope with, and deal with disasters through specific resources and awareness. However, at-risk populations, or those who have certain social disabilities, often lack the same level of resiliency to disasters as those who do not exhibit the same social vulnerabilities. Specifically, low-income families do not exhibit the same level of resiliency as other populations compared to other families and populations. Low-income families are often marginalized in disaster management, which plays a role in their lack of resiliency.

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic may have changed smoking habits. For the smoking population, information regarding smoking habits and the pandemic could potentially aid COVID-19 prevention and control measures. Our study aimed to analyze the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on tobacco consumption, nicotine dependence levels, and motivation for smoking cessation. We also collected information from smokers regarding their awareness of the consequences of tobacco use and the increased risks smokers have for severe complications from COVID-19.

Background: Two healthcare systems with separate libraries merged into one. After the merger, there was a great need to unify and reimagine the processes for Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loan. Multiple accounts, separate systems, and desktop programs were no longer serving our geographically spread-out staff. In addition, COVID-19 shutdowns began just several months after the merger, solidifying the need for 100% cloud-based tools to manage ILL processes.

This article was prepared from a project assigned in a graduate class, BME 7371, Failure Assessment of Medical Devices, taught at Wright State University by the senior author. The device was donated for the study which was successfully retrieved after 93 days in-vivo. Even-though the mechanical integrity of the device held in-tact, the microscopic observations revealed that the damage via corrosion and scratching took place on the surface of the device. Rabies remains a global public health issue with a wide variety of neurological symptoms such as confusion, slight paralysis, hypersalivation, and hydrophobia. Rabies is usually fatal once symptoms appear. Many species are reservoirs for rabies, such as foxes, racoons, and wild dogs, which in turn can transmit the disease to humans, leading to complex transmission chains. There is a long latent period of rabies, between 1 to 3 months after infection, which further complicates control efforts. This paper outlines the impacts of English heteronormativity on E.M. Forster’s novel Maurice by exploring applicable cultural context and its reflection within the text. Maurice was published after Forster’s death, and as his only novel with explicit queer characters, is the best suited for parsing Forster’s own understanding of the society he lived in. With a primary focus on the characters of Maurice and Clive, the paper examines the dichotomy that Forster posits heteronormative English society creates between traditional English masculinity and the identities of gay men. The research will also examine the history of sexual violence against women in periods of conflict.
