(2020), the dialysis population cost expenditure is greater than “seven percent of the Medicare budget at nearly $40 billion a year” even though this population is “less than one percent of the Medicare population” (p. 1436). The objective of this doctoral project is to understand how Brazilian folkloric rhythms influenced two compositions for piano by Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959): A Lenda do Caboclo [The legend of the caboclo], W. 166, 188, and Ciclo Brasileiro [Brazilian cycle], W. 374. My intent is to describe what these pieces represent, how they can be interpreted through rhythmic analysis, and how Villa-Lobos employs them in his own stylized manner. The discussion will focus on several elements that are found in the traditional Brazilian genres of baião, seresta, choro, maracatu, and frevo. This study used appreciative inquiry to identify core values or concepts essential to the Jemez Pueblo community to inform an evaluation framework used by community strength-based programs in Jemez Pueblo. Key informant interviews and a focus group were conducted in Jemez Pueblo with key program staff and tribal leaders. The audio recordings were transcribed and analyzed using inductive reasoning to identify core values. In addition, grounded theory was used to develop a conceptual model from the themes generated from the analysis. The PICOT question was, "Can the Appreciative Inquiry method help uncover core values of a Pueblo community?"

The Madden–Julian Oscillation (MJO) is the dominant mode of intraseasonal variability in the tropics and has a documented influence on extratropical extreme weather through modulation of synoptic atmospheric conditions. MJO phase has been correlated with anomalous tornado and severe hail frequency in the United States (US). However, the robustness of this relationship is unsettled, and the variability of physical pathways to modulation is poorly understood, despite the socioeconomic impacts that tornadoes and hail evoke. Environmental temperature is a widely used variable to describe weather and climate conditions. The use of temperature anomalies to identify variations in climate and weather systems makes temperature a key variable to evaluate not only climate variability but also shifts in ecosystem structural and functional properties. In contrast to terrestrial ecosystems, the assessment of regional temperature anomalies in coastal wetlands is more complex since the local temperature is modulated by hydrology and weather. I unwrap the theoretical background of my practice, which is rooted in the theories of deconstruction by Jacques Derrida, and the rhizome theory by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. I approach my creative process as a grammatic of matter, space, and time, constructing meaning through an interplay of significants that connect to political, social, economic, and cultural implications. In this thesis I wanted to explore the ways that masculinity has been written in history through the genre of fiction. The first chapter discusses traumatized white masculinity in Kurt Vonnegut's novel SlaughterHouse Five and Oliver Stone's film Born On The Fourth of July. The second chapter deals with the female Black experience in response to the white patriarchy in Toni Morrison's novel Home and HBO's television series LoveCraft Country. The purpose of this document is to provide readers with the coding protocol that authors used to code 21 studies that met inclusion criteria for a meta-analysis. The focus of the meta-analysis was to determine the average correlations between four common early numeracy curriculum-based measure measurement (CBM) tools (i.e., oral counting, quantity discrimination, missing number, and numeral identification) and mathematics achievement criterion measures. We also identified moderating factors of the relationship between CBM and the criterion measures. This capstone aimed to look into individuals’ abilities to adapt, retain, and readapt a newly-provided, typically over-exaggerated, goal knee angle for their right leg based upon feedback received and accuracy of examined gait pattern. Research was carried out using individuals aged 18-25, looking at the potential of “learning” per say, a new pattern for their rather instinctual previously formed habits for walking. Knee angle, both baseline and individuals’ attempts at goal angle, were measured with a knee brace worn throughout data collection. This integrated literature review explores the mental health field’s contribution towards the subjugation of Black people through the means of researching human existence that affirmed white supremacy and bolstered the dehumanization of Blackness. The turbulent political crisis in Syria, which has led to millions of refugees seeking asylum in Turkey, merits further attention. Introduction: Nationwide and locally in Los Angeles, CA, uncontrolled diabetes remains a complex chronic condition within the primary care setting. Chronically uncontrolled diabetes is costly for patients and health care systems due to high morbidity and mortality rates. As payor sources move in the direction of providing payment based on core measures and value-based care, chronic illness programs designed to improve these outcomes must be developed, implemented, and sustained. The Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in which this quality improvement project was conducted represents the largest of 11 comprehensive care, family practice FQHCs in the South-Central Los Angeles area.
