Teori Kesetaraan Sumber Daya Dworkin Dalam Kerangka Keadilan Distributif Dan Implikasinya Terhadap Konstitusi Negara Kesejahteraan, Petrus Ckl Bello Jun 2022

Teori Kesetaraan Sumber Daya Dworkin Dalam Kerangka Keadilan Distributif Dan Implikasinya Terhadap Konstitusi Negara Kesejahteraan, Petrus Ckl Bello

Jurnal Hukum & Pembangunan

According to Dworkin, the equality that must be pursued by a government is equality of resources, not equality of welfare, as emphasized by utilitarianism in its various versions. According to him, the concept of resource equality is superior in interpreting abstract ideas about human equality. First, the concept of resource equity avoids ambiguity in understanding distributive justice and, second, avoids divisions that contradict our intuition about justice, two problems that plague the formulation of welfare equality. Equality of resources is proposed by Dworkin in the framework of distributive justice. According to Dworkin, it is in this equality of resources between …

Trace metals have been an important ingredient for life throughout Earth’s history. Here, we describe the genome-guided cultivation of a member of the elusive archaeal lineage Caldarchaeales (syn. Aigarchaeota), Wolframiiraptor gerlachensis, and its growth dependence on tungsten. A metagenome-assembled genome (MAG) of W. gerlachensis encodes putative tungsten membrane transport systems, as well as pathways for anaerobic oxidation of sugars probably mediated by tungsten-dependent ferredoxin oxidoreductases that are expressed during growth. Catalyzed reporter deposition-fluorescence in-situ hybridization (CARD-FISH) and nanoscale secondary ion mass spectrometry (nanoSIMS) show that W. gerlachensis preferentially assimilates xylose. Phylogenetic analyses of 78 high-quality Wolframiiraptoraceae MAGs from …

The Impact Of Virtual Marketing Strategies On The Price‑Tom Relation, Kelley Cours Anderson, Julia Freybote, Kerry Manis Jun 2022

The Impact Of Virtual Marketing Strategies On The Price‑Tom Relation, Kelley Cours Anderson, Julia Freybote, Kerry Manis

Business Faculty Publications and Presentations

Virtual tours such as pre-recorded videos or self-guided virtual reality (VR) tours represent marketing strategies that agents can use to promote homes for sale. Assuming agents aim at maximizing their net commissions, we expect virtual tours, which require more agent effort and are more costly, to be used for homes that are difficult to show due to being owner- or tenant-occupied. Using 34,359 single-family transactions from multiple US markets, we show that virtual tours impact the sales prices of occupied homes (1) directly (main effect) and (2) indirectly through an interaction with time on market (TOM). However, this impact differs …

Endothelial Autophagy In Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction And Cardiovascular Disease, Fujie Zhao, Ganesh Satyanarayana, Zheng Zhang, Jianli Zhao, Xin-Liang Ma, Yajing Wang Jun 2022

Endothelial Autophagy In Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction And Cardiovascular Disease, Fujie Zhao, Ganesh Satyanarayana, Zheng Zhang, Jianli Zhao, Xin-Liang Ma, Yajing Wang

Department of Emergency Medicine Faculty Papers

Coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) refers to a subset of structural and/or functional disorders of coronary microcirculation that lead to impaired coronary blood flow and eventually myocardial ischemia. Amid the growing knowledge of the pathophysiological mechanisms and the development of advanced tools for assessment, CMD has emerged as a prevalent cause of a broad spectrum of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), including obstructive and nonobstructive coronary artery disease, diabetic cardiomyopathy, and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Of note, the endothelium exerts vital functions in regulating coronary microvascular and cardiac function. Importantly, insufficient or uncontrolled activation of endothelial autophagy facilitates the pathogenesis of …

Learning Nonparametric Ordinary Differential Equations: Application To Sparse And Noisy Data, Kamel Lahouel, Michael Wells, David Lovitz, Victor Rielly, Ethan Lew, Bruno Jedynak

Mathematics and Statistics Faculty Publications and Presentations

Learning nonparametric systems of Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) x˙=f(t,x) from noisy and sparse data is an emerging machine learning topic. We use the well-developed theory of Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Spaces (RKHS) to define candidates for f for which the solution of the ODE exists and is unique. Learning f consists of solving a constrained optimization problem in an RKHS. We propose a penalty method that iteratively uses the Representer theorem and Euler approximations to provide a numerical solution. We prove a generalization bound for the L2 distance between x and its estimator. Experiments are provided for the FitzHugh Nagumo oscillator …

Mathematics and Statistics Faculty Publications and Presentations

In this paper we study the sum p≤xτ(np), where τ(n) denotes the number of divisors of n, and {np} is a sequence of integers indexed by primes. Under certain assumptions we show that the aforementioned sum is x as x → ∞. As an application, we consider the case where the sequence is given by the Fourier coefficients of a modular form.

Ethnographic Insight On The Construct Of Blackness: Heritage, ‘Home,’ Community, And Reality In Carver City-Lincoln Gardens, Tampa, Florida, 1928-2021, Lisa Katina Armstrong

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

This study is a community-engaged investigation of the experiences and impacts of Black people living in the segregated space called “Carver City-Lincoln Gardens.” This study aims to advance scholarly and mainstream conversations about one racialized community; it is a significant space because the Lincoln Gardens Area was explicitly designated by the Department of Defense as a residential space for Black veterans after World War II to purchase homes. By exploring this housing arrangement through an anthropological lens, the findings indicate that a mixed-method, collaborative ethnography reveals nuances that might be glossed over when communities are racialized. This study also seeks …

Florida Punks: Punk, Performance, And Community At Gainesville’S Fest, Michael Anthony Mcdowell Ii

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Fest is an annual punk rock music festival held in Gainesville, Florida. At Fest, participants engage in aesthetic creation and participation, negotiate identities, participate in political discourse, and forge communities. In this dissertation, I use theories of performance, framing, and culture to understand Fest. To do so, I theorize Fest using three approaches to performance: performance as an object of study, performance as a metaphor for everyday life and identity, and performance as a method of inquiry. Using these three approaches to performance, I understand Fest as performance, as a site that permits and constrains performances of self, identity, and …

Numerical Optimization Study For The Geometry Of Film Cooling Model, Mohammad Alshehaby, Lamyaa El-Gabry

Faculty Journal Articles

Film cooling is one of the essential approaches developed to protect gas turbine blades and vanes from high temperature gases. It does so by covering the surface with a film of coolant air. Experimental and numerical studies have identified the parameters affecting film cooling aerodynamic and thermal behaviours; one of the most important is the coolant nozzle geometry. In this study, the nozzle geometry is optimized to enhance film effectiveness and heat transfer while keeping the inlet area and pitch-to-hole-width ratio fixed. A Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) model, developed and validated against experimental data, served as the baseline for further …

Epigenetic variation plays a significant role in normal development and human diseases including cancer, in part through post-translational modifications (PTMs) of histones. Identification and profiling of changes in histone PTMs, and in proteins regulating PTMs, are crucial to understanding diseases, and for discovery of epigenetic therapeutic agents. In this study, we have adapted and validated an antibody-based reverse phase protein array (RPPA) platform for profiling 20 histone PTMs and expression of 40 proteins that modify histones and other epigenomic regulators. The specificity of the RPPA assay for histone PTMs was validated with synthetic peptides corresponding to histone PTMs and by …

2020-Current year OA Pubs

INTRODUCTION: Public-facing maps of COVID-19 cases, hospital admissions, and deaths are commonly displayed at the state, county, and zip code levels, and low case counts are suppressed to protect confidentiality. Public health authorities are tasked with case identification, contact tracing, and canvasing for educational purposes during a pandemic. Given limited resources, authorities would benefit from the ability to tailor their efforts to a particular neighborhood or congregate living facility.

METHODS: We describe the methods of building a real-time visualization of patients with COVID-19-positive tests, which facilitates timely public health response to the pandemic. We developed an interactive street-level visualization that …
