Cancerseg-Xa: Medical Histopathology Segmentation System Based On Xception Backbone And Attention Mechanisms, Alaa Youssef, Wessam H. El-Behaidy, Aliaa Youssif

Accurate segmentation of histopathological images is essential to support early diagnosis and effective treatment planning in cancer care. This study presents CancerSeg-XA, a deep learning-based histopathology segmentation system designed to deliver robust performance across diverse tissue types and imaging sources. Built upon the DeepLabV3+ framework, CancerSeg-XA incorporates architectural enhancements to strengthen feature representation and improve model stability. The system was evaluated on three widely recognized datasets—BCSS, PanNuke, and PUMA—each presenting distinct structural and clinical challenges. Across all datasets, CancerSeg-XA consistently outperformed the baseline DeepLabV3+ in terms of segmentation accuracy, recall, and F1-score. People with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are particularly vulnerable to vaccine-preventable infections. Therefore, the National Kidney Foundation organized a multidisciplinary working group, including people with CKD and family care partners, to develop recommendations to improve vaccination rates, vaccination effectiveness, and health care for the CKD population. A modified Delphi process was used to achieve consensus on the recommendations. Recommendations on vaccination in CKD patients were organized into these categories: (1) patient preferences; (2) assessing the vaccination status of patients with CKD; (3) assessing vaccine response in patients with CKD; (4) vaccination of immunocompromised patients; (5) vaccination in posttransplant patients; (6) …

This Senior Project focuses on the planning and execution of a residential boundary wooden fence for an elderly homeowner located in Oceano, California, alongside a partial front yard renovation that was an appreciation gift from her grandson. Prior to construction, the front yard was divided by a small ornamental iron fence, which provided very little privacy. This fence installation was designed to improve privacy, security and overall safety while working alongside hired concrete laborers. Intro/Background: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) with associated tumor venous thrombus has historically been treated via an open or laparoscopic approach. To date there are no reported cases of performing inferior vena cava (IVC) thrombectomy using the da Vinci® Single-Port (SP) robotic platform.

North Carolina: Here we present the first reported case of a successful SP robotic right radical nephrectomy with level III IVC thrombectomy through a single incision and retroperitoneal approach. The patient is an 83-year-old female found to have a 9.6 cm right renal mass with renal vein thrombus abutting the diaphragm, and concern for metastatic disease. …

Natural resource agencies and researchers have often focused efforts to reduce the constraints women face in hunting. However, many women continue to hunt despite these barriers, suggesting a need to understand the complex decisions they make. This study explores the decision space that women navigate despite logistical, cultural, and personal constraints. This mixed method study used free lists (n = 50) and semi-structured interviews (n = 22) to identify the most salient decisions women make to go hunting. These included decisions about gear, household responsibilities, hunting partners, land access, and pre-planning. Interviews revealed how women strategically make decisions to navigate …

This investigation studies the flexural performance of double-layer reinforced concrete beams composed of ordinary concrete and steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC). The study evaluates the effects of bottom layer thickness, shear span ratio (a/d) and straight steel fiber volume fraction on structural behavior. The study project comprises twenty reinforced concrete beams, all specimens had across-section size of (125 mm × 250 mm) and different length of (1300, 1740, 2180) mm. The specimens were simple support and strengthened with flexural reinforcement of (4Ø12mm) and transverse reinforcement employing (Ø10@110mm) bars as stirrups. Accurate prediction of the critical heat flux (CHF) is a key pillar for ensuring both the safety and economic performance of nuclear reactors. While machine learning (ML)-based methodologies have demonstrated considerable success in predicting CHF, most existing studies have been confined to simplified geometries, such as single tubes. Conversely, limited attention has been devoted to CHF prediction in realistic reactor environments, particularly within rod bundle configurations, where complex multiphase flow and heat transfer phenomena prevail. We employ an identification strategy for retail participation to explore the link between return momentum and investing clientele. This scheme relies on strictly enforced round-lot rules in China, which financially constrain retail investors from participating in stocks with high nominal prices. We find that there is strong momentum in high-priced stocks, but no momentum on aggregate. This result supports the idea that noise trades of retail investors mask momentum, while other, more sophisticated investors contribute to momentum. We validate this notion by showing that retail investors with small (large) portfolios are less (more) prone to participating in stocks with high …

Many employees lament that their inability to stop ruminating about work during nonwork time is one of their most significant work-related challenges, yet limited research has articulated actionable strategies to address this issue on a day-to-day basis. Integrating goal shielding theory with rumination theory, our model introduces nonwork goal reflection as a deliberate behavioral intervention employees can engage in to curtail work-related rumination, in a way that facilitates well-being during nonwork time. Understanding contact-induced damage is of paramount importance in the analysis of the lifespan and performance of surface coatings. In this work, we investigate the effects of dopants and interlayers on the structural durability of diamond-like carbon coatings (DLCs) and molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂) coatings on stainless steel via microscratch tests. The analysis of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) survey spectra and Raman spectra of the DLCs shows that the ratio of sp²/sp³ (i.e., the intensity ratio of sp² to sp³ obtained via XPS) is proportional to I_D/I_G, where I_D and …
