Brd4-Mediated Er Membrane Contact Creates Functionally Distinct Mitochondrial Subtypes, Brandon Chen, Rachel M Guerra, David J Pagliarini, Et Al.

Inter-organellar communication is critical for cellular metabolism. One of the most abundant inter-organellar interactions occurs at the endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria contact sites (ERMCSs). However, an understanding of the mechanisms governing ERMCS regulation and their roles in cellular metabolism is limited by a lack of tools that permit temporal induction and reversal. Through screening approaches, we identified fedratinib, an FDA-approved drug that dramatically increases ERMCS abundance by inhibiting the epigenetic modifier BRD4. Fedratinib rapidly and reversibly modulates mitochondrial and ER morphology, induces a distinct ER-mitochondria envelopment structure, and alters metabolic homeostasis. Hanifaru Bay, in Baa Atoll, Maldives, is globally recognised for hosting the largest known feeding aggregations of reef manta rays (Mobula alfredi). These aggregations are spatially and temporally discrete, often associated with flood tides, and are thought to result from hydrodynamic processes that elevate zooplankton concentrations. This study investigates the role of flow-topography interactions, specifically around the small headland-like feature in the bay’s inlet (the ‘nodule’), in creating conditions conducive to these feeding events.A Delft3D hydrodynamic model of Baa Atoll was developed to simulate tidal flows within the bay, with high-resolution mesh focusing on Hanifaru Bay. This study was motivated by the low level of emotional wellness among some junior high school students, characterized by difficulties in recognizing, understanding, and managing emotions adaptively, thereby impacting social behavior and learning processes at school. Introduction: Sydenham chorea is the most common parainfectious chorea in children and may be the only presenting symptom of acute rheumatic fever in children. However, choreiform movement disorders in children may also be the result of nonspecific immune processes or other non-immune-mediated disorders. We present the case of an otherwise healthy 10-year-old girl with a nonspecific immune-mediated chorea that resolved with immunomodulatory therapy. Clinical Findings: The patient's exam results indicated orolingual dyskinesia and blepharospasm. The patient had intermittent choreiform movements of the neck, trunk, and extremities (including a ``milk maid's grasp'') that persisted even when she was asleep. Her coordination …

We have every reason to be grateful for every single recording which has been made available to us. Kerstin Thorborg (1896–1970) was a leading mezzo-soprano with the Metropolitan for thirteen seasons, singing twenty roles in 350 performances. Her debut was as Frick in Die Walküre on 21 December 1936 and her final performances in 1950. Fifteen years older than Jussi Björling and born in the same Swedish region Dalarna (Dalecarlia), she enjoyed twenty years of rather solitary retirement there and died ten years after him. Her Met repertoire focused on Wagner so they met rarely on stage, but of course they knew each other well during the years they met professionally (1936–41 and 1945–50). They can be heard …

Jussi was fortunate in being tutored by John Forsell, a specialist in Mozart operas, especially Don Giovanni. She admitted herself to have a “little” voice, and the beauty of its sound could vary, but what possibly might have lacked in her voice she compensated very well with musicality and brilliant acting that sometimes could be so good, that the audience would wonder if it was real.
