INTRODUCTION: Immunochemotherapy using PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies in combination with chemotherapeutic agents has become a mainstream treatment for cancer patients, but it remains unclear which drug combinations would produce best therapeutic outcome.
OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to investigate two common chemotherapeutic drugs, gemcitabine and cisplatin, for their impacts on the therapeutic efficacy of PD-1 antibody in K-ras-driven cancers known to overexpress PD-L1.
METHODS: Both in vitro assays and syngeneic mouse tumor models were used in this study. Biochemical and molecular assays were used to determine the effects of drugs on T cell functions in cell culture models and in …

How Should The Statute Of Frauds Apply To Reliance-Based Contracts?, Gregory Scott Crespi
How Should The Statute Of Frauds Apply To Reliance-Based Contracts?, Gregory Scott Crespi
SMU Law Review Forum
The “sufficient writing” requirements of the Statute of Frauds were formulated with bargain-based contracts in mind. It is often difficult if not impossible for persons to meet those requirements for reliance-based contracts, since this would require them to produce a writing signed by the promisor that not only sufficiently evidenced the promise, but also provided sufficient evidence of the other elements of such reliance-based contracts: the foreseeability of their subsequent reliance upon the promise, the fact of their reliance, and that failure to enforce the promise would be unjust.
There are several ways that courts can avoid the harsh results …

Department of Surgery Faculty Papers
Background: Bronchial artery revascularization (BAR) during lung transplantation has been hypothesized to improve early tracheal healing and delay the onset of bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS). We aimed to assess the outcomes of BAR after lung transplantation.
Methods: Electronic search in Ovid Medline, Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Scopus, and Cochrane Controlled Trials Register (CCTR) databases was performed to identify all relevant studies published about lung transplantation with BAR. Studies discussing lung transplantation utilizing BAR were included while those without outcome data such as BOS and survival were excluded. Cohort-level data were extracted and pooled for analysis. …
A Narrative Inquiry On The Entrepreneurial Experiences Of Female Military Spouses With Advanced Degrees, Rosette Mupas-Obedoza
A Narrative Inquiry On The Entrepreneurial Experiences Of Female Military Spouses With Advanced Degrees, Rosette Mupas-Obedoza
All Theses And Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to explore the entrepreneurial experiences of female military spouses with advanced degrees. This study documented how these entrepreneurial experiences may have helped the military spouse population overcome underemployment while their servicemember spouse was still on active duty. Through purposeful sampling, five female military spouse entrepreneurs with advanced degrees were selected to participate in the study. Virtual interviews were conducted to provide a detailed account of their entrepreneurial experiences including how and why they got started in entrepreneurship, challenges and opportunities in entrepreneurship, funding programs and educational services supporting every stage of their entrepreneurship, and …

Occupational Stress In Psychiatric Nurses And The Impact Of Self-Care Activities, Jacqueline Lowe
Occupational Stress In Psychiatric Nurses And The Impact Of Self-Care Activities, Jacqueline Lowe
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Background
The nursing profession is an extremely stressful occupation. Psychiatric nurses face many of the general stressors that are inherent within the profession as well as unique challenges in taking care of psychiatric patients. Prolonged exposure to stress can impact the quality of the nurses' lives as well as the quality of patient care. Engagement in self-care activities can promote the well-being of psychiatric nurses.
Purpose
To investigate the level of occupational stress in psychiatric nurses and offer them a guided six-week program on self-care activities. This intervention was measured for any change in the level of occupational stress that …
Medicaid Expansion Expectations, Deborah Farringer
Medicaid Expansion Expectations, Deborah Farringer
Law Faculty Scholarship
Although financial stability in rural hospitals has been a relatively long-standing national problem, in the last decade, hospital closures and the incidence of highly distressed hospitals in rural areas have disproportionately impacted certain states. States that have not expanded their Medicaid programs under the Affordable Care Act, which implemented a program to extend additional federal support to cover adults living below 138% of the federal poverty line (referred to herein as “Medicaid Expansion”), are bearing the brunt of this crisis. Although the reason for hospital closures is multi-faceted and complex, health policy experts have consistently identified the lack of Medicaid …
Insider Trading Restrictions And Real Activities Earnings Management: International Evidence, Yuanto Kusnadi, Yuanto Kusnadi, Jiwei Wang, Yujie Wang
Insider Trading Restrictions And Real Activities Earnings Management: International Evidence, Yuanto Kusnadi, Yuanto Kusnadi, Jiwei Wang, Yujie Wang
Research Collection School Of Accountancy
We examine the implications of insider trading restrictions on firms’ real activities earnings management in an international setting. Using a sample of 28 countries over the period from 1992 to 2007, we find evidence that is supportive of the substitution hypothesis, in that managers have incentives to substitute accruals earnings management for real activities earnings management. This effect is found to be more pronounced for firms in countries with more restrictive insider trading regulation. Our result is robust to alternative measures of real activities earnings management and insider trading restrictions, alternative sub-samples, alternative regression specifications, and controlling for endogeneity. In …
Contextualizing The Organizational Mindset, Joseph A. Carpini, Burak Oc
Contextualizing The Organizational Mindset, Joseph A. Carpini, Burak Oc
Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business
Although Schneider and Pulakos (2022, p. 2) call for scholars to adopt an “organizational mindset,” which includes “an increased organizational frame of reference on variables of interest,” the authors have overlooked the importance of contextualizing such a mindset. Contextualizing “entails linking observations to a set of relevant facts, events, or points of view that make possible research and theory that form part of a larger whole” (Rousseau & Fried, 2001, p. 1). Contextualizing is essential because it provides a common vernacular that facilitates the valid and reliable extension of the industrial-organizational (I-O) mindset to the study of organizational differences and …
Employer Image Within And Across Industries: Moving Beyond Assessing Points-Of-Relevance To Identifying Points-Of-Difference, Greet Van Hoye, Filip Lievens, Bert Weijters, Saartje Cromheecke
Employer Image Within And Across Industries: Moving Beyond Assessing Points-Of-Relevance To Identifying Points-Of-Difference, Greet Van Hoye, Filip Lievens, Bert Weijters, Saartje Cromheecke
Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business
This study draws from brand positioning research to introduce the notions of points-of-relevance and points-of-difference to employer image research. Similar to prior research, this means that we start by investigating the relevant image attributes (points-of-relevance) that potential applicants use for judging organizations' attractiveness as an employer. However, we go beyond past research by examining whether the same points-of-relevance are used within and across industries. Next, we further extend current research by identifying which of the relevant image attributes also serve as points-of-difference for distinguishing between organizations and industries. The sample consisted of 24 organizations from 6 industries (total N = …
