Mobile sensing has played a key role in providing digital solutions to aid with COVID-19 containment policies, primarily to automate contact tracing and social distancing measures. As more and more countries reopen from lockdowns, there remains a pressing need to minimize crowd movements and interactions, particularly in enclosed spaces. Many COVID-19 technology solutions leverage positioning systems, generally using Bluetooth and GPS, and can theoretically be adapted to monitor safety compliance within dedicated environments. Current polyp detection methods from colonoscopy videos use exclusively normal (i.e., healthy) training images, which i) ignore the importance of temporal information in consecutive video frames, and ii) lack knowledge about the polyps. Consequently, they often have high detection errors, especially on challenging polyp cases (e.g., small, flat, or partially visible polyps). In this work, we formulate polyp detection as a weakly-supervised anomaly detection task that uses video-level labelled training data to detect frame-level polyps. Recommender Systems (RecSys) provide suggestions in many decision-making processes. Given that groups of people can perform many real-world activities (e.g., a group of people attending a conference looking for a place to dine), the need for recommendations for groups has increased. A wide range of Group Recommender Systems (GRecSys) has been developed to aggregate individual preferences to group preferences. We analyze 175 studies related to GRecSys. BACKGROUND: The Health Assessment Questionnaire Disability Index (HAQ-DI) has been validated and widely used in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) clinical trials for the assessment of patient functional status. Significant improvements in the HAQ-DI have been reported in response to therapeutic interventions; however, few US studies have evaluated the economic impact of functional disability in patients with PsA.

Calcineurin (CaN) is a calcium/calmodulin-dependent serine/threonine phosphatase with a crucial role in cellular homeostasis. It is also the target of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved immunosuppressant drugs FK506 and cyclosporine A. Recent work from our group and others indicated that an uncontrolled increase in CaN activity causes synaptic dysfunction and neuronal death in various models of neurodegenerative diseases associated with calcium dysregulation. Furthermore, pharmacological normalization of CaN activity can prevent disease progression in animal models. In this chapter, we define what historical political economy (HPE) is and is not, classify the major themes in the literature, assess the relative strengths and weaknesses of the literature, and point to future directions. We view HPE as social scientific inquiry which highlights political causes or consequences of historical issues. HPE is different from conventional political economy in the emphasis placed on historical processes and context. While we view HPE in the most inclusive manner reasonable, we define it to exclude works that are either solely of contemporary importance or use historical data without any historical context (e.g., long-run …

Axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel) is an anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy approved for relapsed/refractory large B cell lymphoma (LBCL) and has treatment with similar efficacy across conventional LBCL subtypes. Toward patient stratification, we assessed whether tumor immune contexture influenced clinical outcomes after axi-cel. We evaluated the tumor microenvironment (TME) of 135 pre-treatment and post-treatment tumor biopsies taken from 51 patients in the ZUMA-1 phase 2 trial. We uncovered dynamic patterns that occurred within 2 weeks after axi-cel. Background: Proton relative biological effectiveness (RBE) is known to depend on physical factors of the proton beam, such as its linear energy transfer (LET), as well as on cell-line specific biological factors, such as their ability to repair DNA damage. T- lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma (T-LL) is an aggressive malignancy of immature T-cells with poor overall survival (OS) and in need of new therapies. LIM-domain only 2 (LMO2) is a critical regulator of hematopoietic cell development that can be overexpressed in T-LL due to chromosomal abnormalities. Deregulated LMO2 expression contributes to T-LL development by inducing block of T-cell differentiation and continuous thymocyte self-renewal. However, LMO2 expression and its biologic significance in T-LL remain largely unknown. osteopenia). However, existing literature is mostly limited to retrospective or administrative studies that have not clearly defined the prevalence and risk factors. Our aim was to identify patient- and disease-related associations with osteopathy in a prospective cohort study of CP.

Methods: We studied 282 subjects with definitive CP enrolled in the PROCEED study who had a baseline dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scan. Osteopenia and osteoporosis were defined using the lowest T-scores. Clinical data were collected using standardized case report forms. Comparisons were performed with a multivariate logistic regression model with forward selection to identify risk factors for osteopathy.

Brain metastases are a challenging manifestation of renal cell carcinoma. We have a limited understanding of brain metastasis tumor and immune biology, drivers of resistance to systemic treatment, and their overall poor prognosis. Current data support a multimodal treatment strategy with radiation treatment and/or surgery. Nonetheless, the optimal approach for the management of brain metastases from renal cell carcinoma remains unclear. PURPOSE: Segmentation of involved lymph nodes on head and neck computed tomography (HN-CT) scans is necessary for the radiotherapy planning of early-stage human papilloma virus (HPV) associated oropharynx cancers (OPC). We aimed to train a deep learning convolutional neural network (DL-CNN) to segment involved lymph nodes on HN-CT scans.

METHODS: Ground-truth segmentation of involved nodes was performed on pre-surgical HN-CT scans for 90 patients who underwent levels II-IV neck dissection for node-positive HPV-OPC (training/validation [n = 70] and testing [n = 20]). A 5-fold cross validation approach was used to train 5 DL-CNN sub-models based on a residual U-net architecture. …

Head and neck cancer (HNC) is the seventh most common cancer worldwide, the majority being oral squamous cell carcinoma. Despite advances in cancer diagnosis and treatment, the survival rate of patients with HNC remains stagnant. The cancer-nerve interaction has been recognized as an important driver of cancer progression. Schwann cells, a type of peripheral glia, have been implicated in promoting cancer cell growth, migration, dispersion, and invasion into the nerve in many cancers. Here, it is demonstrated that the presence of Schwann cells makes oral cancer cells more aggressive by promoting their proliferation, extracellular matrix breakdown, and altering cell metabolism. …

Despite the reliability of modern power systems, large blackouts due to cascading failures (CFs) do occur in power grids with enormous economic and societal costs. In this article, CFs in power grids are theoretically modeled proposing a Markov decision process (MDP) framework with the aim of developing optimal load-shedding (LS) policies to mitigate CFs. The embedded Markov chain of the MDP, established earlier to capture the dynamics of CFs, features a reduced state-space and state-dependent transition probabilities. This paper examines the diverse ways in which science and technology are implicated in collective imaginations of urban futures in Kenya. Despite calls for a ‘deep reimagining’ of African urbanisation (UN Habitat 2014), globalised narratives of urban ‘smartness’ are intersecting with pan-African tendencies toward top-down Master Planning to constrain spaces for collective imagining of urban futures. The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland supports Catholic sisters and their ministries in northeast Ohio through the grantmaking, partnership, capacitybuilding, and evaluation efforts of its Catholic Sisters Program Area. The decline of sisters actively engaged in ministry, due both to their rising median age and a decades-long decline in their overall numbers, called for a reconsideration and likely revision of the CSPA existing theory of change.

As a place-based grantmaker, the foundation uses community-level data internally to establish baseline data. Those data, in combination with local relationships and knowledge of other community initiatives, guide the foundation’s grantmaking strategy in the community’s context and assist with data-driven decision-making. Foundations face two competing imperatives when they commit to advancing equity. On the one hand, they are counseled to support and follow the lead of community-based groups that are on the front lines of social change. On the other hand, they are also being challenged to use their power and influence to act boldly to change inequitable structures, policies, and institutions. These two orientations, yin and yang, can take a foundation in different directions and thus cause confusion and internal conflict.

This budget contains costs (preplant and site preparation, establishment and maintenance, and harvest and processing) and returns for the production and sale of ranunculus cut flowers that were grown in a high tunnel (14 feet by 40 feet). Production methods, yield, costs, and pricing were determined from Utah State University research trials, as well as feedback from Northern Utah producers. The costs and returns represent typical production in Northern Utah but should be adjusted where necessary for individual situations. Site selection, tunnel use, variety, harvest timing, pest management, and other practices will impact costs and returns to a cut-flower operation.

Introduction

The 21st century was marked by a dramatic increase in adolescent e-cigarette use in the United States (US). The popularity of non-traditional flavor types, including fruit and pastry, is thought to contribute toward growing product use nationally, leading to a variety of federal and state regulations limiting the use of non-traditional flavors in the US. The relationship between flavor type and increased adolescent use suggests a possible link between flavor use and addiction and harm perception. This study assessed if the flavor type used when initiating e-cigarette use predicted addiction and harm perceptions.

This study explored a diagnostically cognitive assessment model for the ANOVA score model emphasizing semantic explanations. The study used the mixed methods designs, in which the ANOVA score model was decomposed into measurable components. This consists of the proficiency student model. Such kinds of data were transferred to a quantitative representation via the Bayesian network model of the ANOVA score model and semantic explanation assessment. This diagnostically cognitive assessment consists of 28 variables hierarchically, which are explanatory variables and evidence variables. Nine variables are explanatory variables that are latent. There is an urgent need for funder investments in the ability of grantee nonprofit organizations to support their staff. Such investments, when done well, can yield significant value for individuals, organizations, and fields of work or movements. Furthermore, the value of these investments can be evaluated and communicated.

This article explores the reasons for and implications of the inadequate response by funders, offers a path forward for designing investments in grantee staff, and documents how funders can capture and communicate the value of these “talent investments.”
