On the basis of their training, medical students are considered "the best case scenario" among university students in knowledge of the human papillomavirus (HPV). We evaluated differences in knowledge of HPV, HPV vaccine, and head and neck cancer (HNC) among medical students. A previously validated questionnaire was completed by 247 medical students at a Midwestern university. Outcomes of interest were knowledge score for HPV and HPV vaccine, and HNC, derived from combining questionnaire items to form HPV knowledge and HNC scores, and analyzed using multivariate linear regression. Decipherment Challenges Due To Tamga And Letter Mix-Ups In An Old Hungarian Runic Inscription From The Altai Mountains, Peter Revesz

An Old Hungarian Runic inscription from the Altai Mountains with 40 signs has posed some special challenges for decipherment due to several letter mix-ups and the use of a tamga sign, which is the first reported use of a tamga within this type of script. This paper gives a complete and correct translation and draws some lessons that can be learned about decipherment. It introduces sign similarity matrices as a method of detecting accidental misspellings and shows that sign similarity matrices can be efficiently computed. Dilma Rousseff's presidency ended in controversial form. The first woman elected to the position in Brazil, Rousseff's 2016 impeachment was seen as a coup by her supporters and as a necessary step for democracy by her detractors. With the Brazilian economy facing its worst recession in history and the Car Wash corruption scandal ravaging the political class, critics continually raised questions about Rousseff's leadership style and abilities. This article analyzes how this criticism in part can be attributed to gendered subjective understandings of preferred leadership traits. In this seminar, Dr. Remy Attig, Assistant Professor of Translation Studies & Spanish at BGSU, will discuss “cislation,” a term he proposes to refer to the existence of a text solely within the language and culture whence it emerged, which may be preferred over translation for any number of reasons. Attig will explore some of those motivations and workshop with participants how the notion of cislation might enrich the larger fields of translation studies and queer studies. High-resolution images are often required and desired for most applications, as they incorporate complementary information. However, the optimal utilization of sensor technology and visual technology to improve picture pixel density is often limited and prohibitively expensive. As a result, employing an image processing method to build a high-resolution image from a low-resolution one is a costly and comprehensive option. The goal of video super-resolution is to restore intricate points and reduce the sensory effects. The new ACGME guidelines for paid 6-week family and medical leave are a big step forward in helping our residents maintain their health and well-being. Previously noted for having one of the strictest leave allowances among medical specialties, family medicine programs may see future increases in leave requests due to policy changes extending allowable leave times and increased stress from both the Covid-19 pandemic and current mental health crisis facing our nation. Do Autistic People’S Support Needs And Non‑Autistic People’S Support For The Neurodiversity Movement Contribute To Heightened Autism Stigma In South Korea Vs. The Us?, So Yoon Kim, Kristen Gillespie‑Lynch

We examined stigma towards vignette characters representing diverse autistic characteristics (social, non-speaking, or repetitive interests or restricted behaviors; RIRB) among 259 South Korean and 240 American participants (age range=18~74).Within each domain, participants were randomized to read a vignette depicting low or high support needs. Koreans reported greater stigma towards autistic characteristics and less awareness of and support for the neurodiversity movement thanAmericans. Autistic characters’ support needs and rater characteristics (autism knowledge, neurodiversity endorsement, and contact quantity) predicted stigma in at least one domain, and after accounting for these variables, participants’ nationality was suggestively associated only with stigma towards social characteristics …

Although physical activity and sedentary behavior are moderately heritable, little is known about the mechanisms that influence these traits. Combining data for up to 703,901 individuals from 51 studies in a multi-ancestry meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies yields 99 loci that associate with self-reported moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity during leisure time (MVPA), leisure screen time (LST) and/or sedentary behavior at work. Loci associated with LST are enriched for genes whose expression in skeletal muscle is altered by resistance training. A missense variant in ACTN3 makes the alpha-actinin-3 filaments more flexible, resulting in lower maximal force in isolated type IIA muscle …

The pandemic mitigation strategy of closing schools, while necessary, may have unintentionally impacted children’s moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA), sleep, and time spent watching screens. In some locations, schools used hybrid attendance models, with some days during the week requiring in-person and others virtual attendance. This scenario offers an opportunity to evaluate the impact of attending in-person school on meeting the 24-h movement guidelines. Children (N = 690, 50% girls, K–5th) wore wrist-placed accelerometers for 14 days during October/November 2020. Parents completed daily reports on child time spent on screens and time spent on screens for school. The schools’ schedule was …
