Comparison Between Deterministic And Stochastic Model For Interaction (Covid-19) With Host Cells In Humans, Ahmed M. Kareem, Saad Naji Al-Azzawi Oct 2022

Comparison Between Deterministic And Stochastic Model For Interaction (Covid-19) With Host Cells In Humans, Ahmed M. Kareem, Saad Naji Al-Azzawi

Baghdad Science Journal

In this paper, the deterministic and the stochastic models are proposed to study the interaction of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) with host cells inside the human body. In the deterministic model, the value of the basic reproduction number determines the persistence or extinction of the COVID-19. If , one infected cell will transmit the virus to less than one cell, as a result, the person carrying the Coronavirus will get rid of the disease .If the infected cell will be able to infect all cells that contain ACE receptors. The stochastic model proves that if are sufficiently large then maybe give …

Epidemiological Patterns Of Cannabis- And Substance- Related Congenital Uronephrological Anomalies In Europe: Geospatiotemporal And Causal Inferential Study, Albert Stuart Reece, Gary Kenneth Hulse Oct 2022

Epidemiological Patterns Of Cannabis- And Substance- Related Congenital Uronephrological Anomalies In Europe: Geospatiotemporal And Causal Inferential Study, Albert Stuart Reece, Gary Kenneth Hulse

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Introduction:

Recent reports linking prenatal and community cannabis exposure to elevated uronephrological congenital anomaly (UCA) rates (UCAR’s) raise the question of its European epidemiology given recent increases in community cannabinoid penetration there.

Methods:

UCAR data from Eurocat. Drug use data from European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction. Income from World bank.

Results:

UCAR increased across Spain, Netherlands, Poland and France. UCAR’s and cannabis resin THC increased simultaneously in France, Spain, Netherlands and Bulgaria. At bivariate analysis all UCA’s were related to cannabis herb and resin THC concentrations. All UCAR’s were bivariately related to cannabis metrics ordered by median …

On Decolonization: Scattered Speculations On The Indian University, Atreyee Majumder Oct 2022

On Decolonization: Scattered Speculations On The Indian University, Atreyee Majumder

Popular Media

Universities are like good headphones, the noise-cancelling ones that consistently drown out the turbulent world outside its boundary walls. Universities have taught me to read, think, argue, imagine, and most importantly, write. Universities have also been sites of disappointment, disillusionment, and agony. Universities have also consistently generated employment, horizons of aspiration, a growing collection of books and bookshelves, varied range of intellectual friends and collaborators and nemeses among the dead and the living, and finally, an entry point to a cosmopolitan, bourgeois life for me. The university is now a space that I consider home. In this essay, I will …

Phosphorus And Heavy Metals Removal From Stormwater Runoff Using Granulated Industrial Waste For Retrofitting Catch Basins, Viravid Na Nagara, Dibyendu Sarkar, Rupali Datta

Michigan Tech Publications, Part 1

Phosphorus and heavy metals are washed off and transported with stormwater runoff to nearby surface water bodies resulting in environmental and human health risks. Catch basins remain one of the primary gateways through which stormwater runoff and pollutants from urban areas are transported. Retrofitting catch basins to enhance their phosphorus and heavy metal removal can be an effective approach. In this study, aluminum-based water treatment residual (WTR, a non-hazardous byproduct of the water treatment process) was granulated via a green method to serve as a sustainable filter material, called WTR granules, for enhancing the capabilities of catch basins to remove …

Incidence Of Drug-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae Strains In Organic And Conventional Watermelons Grown In Tennessee, Onyekachukwu Akaeze, Agnes Kilonzo-Nthenge, Dilip Nandwani, Abdullah Ibn Mafiz, Maureen Nzomo, Tobenna Aniume

Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Faculty Research

The production and consumption of organic fresh produce have constantly increased since the 1990s. Consumers prefer organic produce because it does not contain synthetic chemical residues that are often implicated in health problems. The contamination of fresh produce by pathogenic Enterobacteriaceae strains remains a major challenge, and is responsible for frequent foodborne disease outbreaks. The use of antibiotics has proved an effective treatment, but the increase in occurrences of antibiotic resistance is becoming a health challenge. This study seeks to establish the presence of antimicrobial resistance in Enterobacteriaceae on organic and conventional watermelon fruits. Watermelons used for this study were …
