Manga Versus Webtoon: Alternative Science Learning Module Based On Dr Stone, Kiki Septaria, Atika Fatharani

Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan IPA

Reading activities for junior high school students in Indonesia are carried out at school when the instructor requests that they study the learning topic being taught. Therefore, learners may become bored due to the thickness of the available books. Indonesian students are more likely to read when they encounter visualizations in images, and a small amount of text, commonly referred to as comics. Students like reading numerous popular comics, such as manga and webtoons, but it is exceptionally uncommon to discover a popular comic that teaches the subject of a specific discipline, particularly natural sciences, which has a challenging scientific …

The Effect Of Science Process Skills Of Students Argumentation Skills, Darmaji Darmaji, Astalini Astalini, Dwi Agus Kurniawan, Elza Triani

Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan IPA

This study aims to compare students' learning skills in each class and students' argumentative abilities in each class and to determine the effect of students' science process skills on students' argumentation abilities. This type of research uses the mixed method with an explanatory design. The samples of this study were 70 students of class 11 science, with the sampling technique of simple random sampling. The results of data analysis using parametric statistics t-test (2-tailed) obtained sig. value 0.034 < 0.05, so it can be said that the students' argumentative abilities in XI A and IPA B are different, and for the variable science process skills, the sig. is 0.043 < 0.05, so each class's science process skills are different. The results of the regression test obtained the results of the sig value of 0.025 in class XI A, and class XI B obtained a sig value of 0.030, where the value of sig < 0.05 which means that science process skills affect the students' argumentation skills. The study confirms that the improvement of scientific skills will make student better at conveying arguments.

Sex-Specific Role Of Myostatin Signaling In Neonatal Muscle Growth, Denervation Atrophy, And Neuromuscular Contractures., Marianne E Emmert, Parul Aggarwal, Kritton Shay-Winkler, Se-Jin Lee, Qingnian Goh, Roger Cornwall Oct 2022

Sex-Specific Role Of Myostatin Signaling In Neonatal Muscle Growth, Denervation Atrophy, And Neuromuscular Contractures., Marianne E Emmert, Parul Aggarwal, Kritton Shay-Winkler, Se-Jin Lee, Qingnian Goh, Roger Cornwall

Faculty Research 2023

Neonatal brachial plexus injury (NBPI) causes disabling and incurable muscle contractures that result from impaired longitudinal growth of denervated muscles. This deficit in muscle growth is driven by increased proteasome-mediated protein degradation, suggesting a dysregulation of muscle proteostasis. The myostatin (MSTN) pathway, a prominent muscle-specific regulator of proteostasis, is a putative signaling mechanism by which neonatal denervation could impair longitudinal muscle growth, and thus a potential target to prevent NBPI-induced contractures. Through a mouse model of NBPI, our present study revealed that pharmacologic inhibition of MSTN signaling induces hypertrophy, restores longitudinal growth, and prevents contractures in denervated muscles of female …

John Of Garland, "Integumenta Ovidii": Text, Translation And Commentary, Kyle Gervais Oct 2022

John Of Garland, "Integumenta Ovidii": Text, Translation And Commentary, Kyle Gervais

TEAMS Secular Commentary Series

The renowned scholar-poet John of Garland wrote the Integumenta Ovidii (“Allegories on Ovid”) in early thirteenth-century Paris at a time of renewed interest in Classical Latin literature. In this short poem, John offers a series of dense, highly allusive allegories on various Greek and Roman myths in Ovid’s Metamorphoses. This important but difficult work has fascinated and challenged generations of modern students and scholars. The text is here edited and translated for the first time in 90 years, drawing on the evidence of over two dozen manuscripts. Comprehensive explanatory notes help readers to understand John’s condensed allegories in their …

An Architectural Riddle: Billy Tripp's Minefield, Frédéric Allamel Oct 2022

An Architectural Riddle: Billy Tripp's Minefield, Frédéric Allamel

Study the South

"The Mindfield, the sculptural environment created by self-taught builder Billy Tripp, is an alternative to architecture, or at least a countermodel that brings a novel perspective to the discipline. Challenging present architectural principles, such as functionality, cost-effectiveness, building techniques, and materials, the Mindfield opens the way to new possibilities. An ever-evolving edifice not designed to be inhabitable, and whose raison d’être emerged late in the building process, the Mindfield positions itself at the antipodes of mainstream architecture, thus enriching the architectural discourse with its innovative experiments. In building the Mindfield, Tripp inaugurates a holistic art where architecture, sculpture, and literature …

The Experiences And Challenges Of Community Health Volunteers As Agents For Behaviour Change Programming In Africa: A Scoping Review, Mary Ndu, Ellena Andoniou, Sorcha Mcnally, Francisco Olea Popelka, Marisa Tippet, Elysee Nouvet

Health Studies Publications

ommunity health volunteers are considered a vital part of the community health structure in Africa. Despite this vital role in African health systems, very little is known about the community health volunteers’ day-to-day lived experiences providing services in communities and supporting other health workers. This scoping review aims to advance understanding of the day-to-day experiences of community health volunteers in Africa. In doing so, this review draws attention to these under-considered actors in African health systems and identifies critical factors and conditions that represent challenges to community health volunteers’ work in this context. Ultimately, our goal is to provide a …
