The Applied Use Of Zein Nanoparticles In Agriculture, Colin Bonser Nov 2022

The Applied Use Of Zein Nanoparticles In Agriculture, Colin Bonser

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

Nanotechnology is a multifaceted and a promising strategy in agricultural pest management for the development of insecticides or insecticide carriers. Research has shown that nanoparticles increase stability and efficacy of entrapped chemical pesticides to prevent active ingredient degradation while improving chemical stability and solubility. The following work evaluated nanoparticles synthesized from biopolymers, materials that originate from renewable sources also have an increased biodegradability.
Work was conducted under laboratory, greenhouse, and field conditions to test the biopoloymers as possible insecticide and insecticide carriers. The primary biopolymer evaluated in the following studies was zein, although lignin and chitosan were also evaluated. Overall, …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Background:

Cognitive impairment and dementia may result from a combination of modifiable and nonmodifiable risk and protective factors, such as the environment, educational attainment, time devoted to cognitively stimulating activities, and physical activity.

Objective:

This study aimed to investigate the mediating role of sociodemographic characteristics and lifestyle factors in the years of education and cognitive performance in Peruvian adults.

Methods:

This cross-sectional study included 1,478 subjects assessed by Addenbrooke’s Cognitive Examination Revised (ACE-R). Using mediation models, we evaluated the mediation role of parents’ educational level, reading time (RT), and physical activity time (PAT) in the years of education (IYE) and …

"You Have To Find Your People: "A Design-Based Approach To Transforming Teacher Practices Using Socially Just Innovation, Sarah Bonner

Theses and Dissertations

The research for this dissertation is presented in manuscript format with an introduction, an in-depth outline of three manuscripts related to this study, and a conclusion that follows. As design-based research serving as the foundation to this work, the first manuscript used networked inquiry to uncover what teachers need in order to transform their classroom instruction to infuse socially just practices. The second manuscript used the figured worlds theoretical framework (Holland et. al 1998) to examine the identity transformations of experienced teachers. And, the third manuscript explored the connection between novice teachers and socially just innovative mentor teachers and its …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The study analyses research productivity of College and Research Library Journal from 2012 to 2021 using bibliometric method. The journal published 808 research papers within the period. The published papers were analysed to determine, the type of document published, chronological distribution of published documents, authorship pattern, most productive articles and the subject coverage of published articles. The result of the study revealed that the types of documents published in C&RL include articles, book reviews, editorial materials, errata and letters. Articles and book reviews were highly published. There was a gradual and unsteady rise in publication within the period with 31.19% …

To The Law Machine’ Revisited: A Survey & Analysis Of Methods And Techniques For Automation In The Legal World, Avinash Ambale Ceo/Founder Nov 2022

To The Law Machine’ Revisited: A Survey & Analysis Of Methods And Techniques For Automation In The Legal World, Avinash Ambale Ceo/Founder

International Journal on Consumer Law and Practice

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Law has a long history of research dating back to at least 1958. Despite decades of work, Artificial Intelligence has not scaled out of academia to real-life courtrooms and mediation chambers. The reason, in our opinion is: theory of learning in computation has only recently caught up with adversarial inference or defeasible logic, a form of social learning widely used both in theory and practice of common law. We posit that Artificial Intelligence that uses Causal Inference models (a quantum leap from defeasible logic) approximate social learning very well. They provide a quantitative formulation for assignation …

Damages In A Consumer Sale Contract: Reviewing The Consumer Protection Bill, 2015, Akhileshwar Pathak Professor Nov 2022

Damages In A Consumer Sale Contract: Reviewing The Consumer Protection Bill, 2015, Akhileshwar Pathak Professor

International Journal on Consumer Law and Practice

Consumer protection law rests on the foundations of contract law and the law of sale of goods. A consumer law has to conceptually express this foundation and the modifications it is bringing about in these laws. Without this, the law would become unclear, conflicting and confusing. In this respect, the Consumer Protection Bill, 2015 is not secured in its foundation and needs revision. The paper reviews the rights of the consumer (buyer) to receive damages for breach by the seller. The bill recognises only repair and replacement as damages for the consumer. For claiming other damages, the consumer must establish …

Curbing False Or Misleading Advertisements In India: Challenges And Solutions, Anirban Chakraborty Assistant Professor Of Law

International Journal on Consumer Law and Practice

Advertisement is an age old practice and currently part and parcel of commercial marketing strategy. It is used by producers to drive consumer behavior to its commercial offering and increase consumption of their product. But when these advertisements are false or intend to deceive consumers, they impair the economic behavior of the consumers; cause injury to their rights to exercise informed choice; result in information asymmetry and also harm the interests of competing commercial brands. They are unethical and are regarded as a social and commercial ill, but more significantly in economic terms the resulting information asymmetry due to such …

Misinformation, Onu Institute For Civics And Public Policy, Caleb Clayton

Critical Questions

The digital age and the birth of social media have changed how people receive news. New technologies make communicating events an instantaneous process. Generating information is far easier than ever, and the amount of information in the world has grown exponentially since the turn of the millennium. Information constantly generates, making it impossible to process and verify it as it appears. Social media allows people to instantly share information, exposing it to anybody on the same platform. Despite the benefits of sharing information instantly, not all information is truthful. Though they are hardly new concepts, misinformation, disinformation, and “fake news” …

Kinematic And Kinetic Gait Characteristics In People With Patellofemoral Pain: A Systematic Review And Meta-Analysis, Harvi Hart Dr.

Physical Therapy Publications

Abstract

Background

Patellofemoral pain (PFP) is a prevalent knee condition with many proposed biomechanically orientated etiological factors and treatments.

Objective

We aimed to systematically review and synthesize the evidence for biomechanical variables (spatiotemporal, kinematic, kinetic) during walking and running in people with PFP compared with pain-free controls, and determine if biomechanical variables contribute to the development of PFP.

Design

Systematic review and meta-analysis.

Data sources

We searched Medline, CINAHL, SPORTDiscus, Embase, and Web of Science from inception to October 2021.

Eligibility criteria for selecting studies

All study designs (prospective, case–control [± interventional component, provided pre-intervention data were reported for both …

Unexpected Opportunities For Manatee (Trichechus Manatus Latirostris) Education And Citizen Science, Yvanna M. Strait, Amy Hirons Nov 2022

Unexpected Opportunities For Manatee (Trichechus Manatus Latirostris) Education And Citizen Science, Yvanna M. Strait, Amy Hirons

Marine & Environmental Sciences Faculty Articles

The Florida manatee (Trichechus manatus latirostris) mainly resides within the state's coastal waters, but sharing this habitat with thousands of watercrafts, either registered, unregistered, or visiting, has proven challenging for its survival. The future of manatee research among scientists and citizen scientists has strong potential. By taking advantage of venues of opportunity such as boat shows, not only is local population data gathered, but a stronger positive relationship with the public is forged. When people feel they have a stake in the conservation of a species or habitat, they will likely become and remain engaged.
