The aim of this study was to identify whether there is a difference in serum (BCAA) concentration in COPD, and is this alteration associated with changes in total protein concentration, total cholesterol, Albumin and triglyceride (TGL). Fourteen patients with COPD their age is (62.3±2.4), and fourteen healthy volunteers their age (60.32±1.56) were examined. Also the role of auto antibodies against phospholipids (APL) and it's association with the mentioned parasite and virus among women who have consulted the-Children and Maternity Hospital and General Teaching Hospital in AL-Hilla city, during the period from November 2006 to April 2007. The results of our study showed that percentage of bacterial contamination in operating rooms was (66.2%) before disinfection method, and after disinfection method was (47.5%). High contamination percentage (100%) was in room floor covers and was decreased to (60%) after disinfectant. The lowest percentage of contamination (1%) was in surgical instruments and disappeared after disinfectant. The percentage of contamination in disinfectants and antiseptics was (55%), high contamination percentage (75%) was in Chloroxylenol (Dettol) whereas the owest (25%) was in Formalin.

Across-sectional study was done to know the patterns of antimicrobial Susceptibility test of isolated uropathogens among pregnant women attending the Department of Gynaecology/Obstetric at the maternity&Child Teaching Hospital in Najaf Governorate.The study was conducted during the period between August 2006 to August 2007 .The study showed that 28%of pregnant women whom complained of signs & symptoms of urinary tract mfection (UTI) had a positive cultural result .The predominant pathogen was E.coli (44%) with high susceptibility test result to cefotaxim , ciprofloxacin , amikacin, and a high resistant rate to trimethoprim/ sulfamethoxazole & ampicillin.

This study included five Iraqi families from four provinces, many members who suffered from congenital fragile X chromosome. Five family pedigrees were drawn up very clearly to follow the pattern of fragile X chromosome. The study showed that there is marked discrepancy in the sex ratio, with only boys affected. The study was conducted on 1990 patients [ 1140 (57.3%) males and 850 (42.7%) females] during three years 2005-2007 at Thi-Qar province. They suffering from sings and symptoms of liver diseases. The results improved no positive case of infection with HIV , and revealed 176 (8.8%) positive hepatitis cases. HBV had high prevalence than other types including 100(5%) cases with significant differences , followed by HCV 63(3.2%) and 13(0.7%)cases were recorded as dual infections (HBV+HCV). There is a dominance of Th1 response in tuberculous pleurisy, a matter which encourages the evaluation of Th1 cytokines in order to reveal a possible diagnostic tool. Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is a common psychiatric disorder, which may cause significant distress and disability. This study was an attempt to identify the symptom frequency of this significant disorder among the patients attending the only out patient clinic in Al-Diwanyia Teaching Hospital (180 Km south of Baghdad). Headache (75%), Fatigue (70%), Palpitation (67.5%), Chest pain (66.6%) and Persistent irritability (64.1%) were the most frequent symptoms in 120 outpatients with a diagnosis of GAD.

This study carried out on Forty-three patients attending hospitals for elective surgical resection of colorectal cancer (CRC) from October 2002 to March 2004. Thirty-five resection margins that histopathologically proved free of malignancy taken from the normal tissue of the same patients used as controls of staining efficiency and evaluation for immunohistochemistry (IHC). p16INK4a immunoexpression in the CRN are less than 5% and regarded as negative while 32 of 43 CRC patients had positive reaction for p16INK4a.

Sixty patients diagnosed as depression at Al-Diwania teaching hospital by two psychiatrist using Beck-Dep. Inventory Short version, compared with eighty non- psychiatrically disturbed controls, in the period between 1st July 2000 to 31 Dec. 2000. Were studied for life events using a semi-structured life events interview. It was found that depressed group had significantly more life events in the twelve months preceding the onset of their depression than the controls in the same periods.

Post-traumatic stress disorders(PTSD)may follow civilian psychological trauma .This study was an attempt to identify the frequency of clinical features of this significant disorder among Iraqi patients who exposed to various forms of sever civilian trauma ,and also to explore the effectiveness of psychotropic medications used in treatment ,and available in Iraqi market . The study determined the frequency of anxiety disorders in a large group of depressed outpatients. The Composit International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI) was administered to130 depressed outpatients. More than one-half of the patients met the full criteria for a current anxiety disorder, and more than one-half of the patients with an anxiety disorder had more than one.
