This document describes a waterproof wearable computing device (e.g., smart watch, smart ring, hearable device, or other body-mounted devices or sensors) that aids in aquatic safety by collecting environmental, biometric, and kinematic data from the user and preemptively alerting the user of a hypoxia induced event (e.g., drowning, unconsciousness, etc.). The wearable computing device uses a multi-sensor fusion approach integrating device components such as barometers, accelerometers, gyroscopes, and physiological sensors to obtain depth data, underwater duration data, kinematic movement data, biometric data, and environmental data, which may be combined with a historical user baseline to determine a lethargy score. Apparatus For Spectral Optical Sorting Of Floral Material For Essential Oil Feedstock, Koenraad M. De Vleeschauwer

This technical note describes a prototype apparatus for separating floral material from vegetative plant structures to improve essential-oil feedstock quality. The system uses ultraviolet or other spectral illumination and optical detection to identify flowers based on differences in reflectance relative to stems and leaves. Inspired by pollinator vision systems (e.g., Apis mellifera), the apparatus can actuate pneumatic, mechani- cal, or other separation mechanisms to isolate flowers. Lavender (Lavandula spp.) is presented as an example implementation. The disclosure is intended as public prior art to make the system available for widespread use without patent restriction.

[0001] A system and method for managing and optimizing a distributed Apache Kafka production cluster 104. The system 102 collects real-time operational metrics from a plurality of Kafka brokers. The system generates a workload fingerprint and retrieves similar historical fingerprints from a historical case repository. Further, the system identifies top-ranked historical fingerprints using similarity computation. The system generates configuration recommendations if the similarity exceeds a threshold and rejects recommendation generation if the similarity is less than the threshold. Understanding and improving phishing awareness is an important aspect of ensuring patient health information (PHI) is protected. Many health organizations require associates to complete annual training and supplement that training with simulated phishing email campaigns.

This poster will provide the results of a multiyear group of four studies in which health information (HI) professionals were provided various types of training and then tested on their susceptibility to simulated phishing emails. This will supplement the research on the viability of this method. And, this will present the findings by using real HI professionals (vs. college students).

Health information achieves impact only when it is accessible and understandable to patients and their caregivers. Challacombe and McElhiney (2025), in Advances in Health Information Science and Practice, reported results from three studies analyzing the readability of patient-facing forms from the 150 highest-ranked hospitals in the United States. Their findings revealed the average readability of these forms exceeded the recommended 8th-grade reading level, indicating patients may not have fully understood their privacy rights or the specific documents requested.

At the local organization, leadership identified inconsistent depression screening as a practice problem among nursing staff.
