— Steel Box Girder (SBG) bridges represent a widely used structural solution for both straight and curved bridges of moderate spans, owing to their high torsional rigidity, significant bending resistance, and rapid construction characteristics. This study provides a comprehensive theoretical comparison of the preliminary proportion limits, shear resistance design strength, and flexural resistance design strength in both positive (sagging) and negative (hogging) moment regions of SBG bridges. Free Vibration Of Sandwich Panels With Re-Entrant Auxetic Core: A Numerical And Analytical Investigations, Nabaa Alaa Aldeen, Sadeq Hussein Bakhy, Mohsin N. Hamzah

In this paper, an analytical study is performed along with a numerical method to analyze free-vibration behavior of sandwich panels composed of aluminum face sheets and a polymer-based re-entrant auxetic core. An analytical model based on Classical Plate Theory (CPT) was formulated using equivalent orthotropic elastic properties derived from the re-entrant unit-cell geometry. Theoretical predictions were validated using three-dimensional finite element simulations in ANSYS 2025 R1, with SOLID186 elements under supported boundary conditions. The results indicate that if the core thickness is increased from 4 mm to 12 mm, there is roughly a 90% increase in the fundamental natural frequency. …

This work investigates the development of polymer-based bio-composite-coated layers on a Ti-6Al-4V substrate via electrostatic spray deposition. The coatings were created using varying compositions, including (Pure PLA, 3, 6, and 9) wt.% of silver(Ag) combined with (100,97, 94, and 91) wt.% of PLA powder. Additionally, similar percentages of zirconium oxide (ZrO2) were mixed with (3 and 6) wt.% of silver powder(97 and 94)wt.% of Polylactic acid (PLA) powder. The use of large quantities of cement, silica sand, and quartz powder in the production of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) imposes environmental burdens, increases CO2 emissions, and depletes natural resources. In this concept, there is a need for sustainable UHPC mixtures that reduce clinker and natural aggregate consumption while maintaining ultra-high strength, particularly by utilizing industrial by-products and alternative materials combinations. In marine environments, the main cause of degradation of reinforced concrete structures is corrosion induced by the penetration of chloride ions. Introduction: Patients with anorexia nervosa have a mortality rate more than 5 times higher than the general population. Medical stabilization through nutritional rehabilitation is essential, yet institutional practices vary widely. Nasogastric tube (NGT) feeding has been the standard in pediatric inpatient settings, despite evidence suggesting similar outcomes with oral refeeding and potential for psychological trauma. Methods: An interdisciplinary work group representing adolescent medicine, pediatrics, nursing, nutrition, psychiatry, and social work developed a standardized, evidence-based pediatric nutritional rehabilitation protocol. Introduction: We investigated the characteristics and contributing factors of overdose fatalities associated with kratom by examining descriptive data and toxicology findings from medical examiners in select New England states. Methods: We contacted medical examiner offices in 6 New England states to request forensic data on overdose deaths attributed to kratom from January 2015 through July 2024. Primary outcomes were postmortem toxicology and autopsy findings, and secondary outcomes were descriptive case details. Results: In 2 cases for which toxicology findings were available, concurrent substances were detected in the deceased individuals. Postmortem mitragynine amounts were 890 ng/mL and 23 ng/mL. Exploring nursing faculty job satisfaction is important for retaining faculty in undergraduate nursing programs because they are vital to training future bedside nurses. There is a nursing faculty shortage in the United States, and retaining faculty is critical to addressing it. The purpose of this study, guided by Herzberg’s motivation-hygiene theory, was to (a) understand the relationship between workload, work-life balance, and nursing faculty job satisfaction and (b) the relationship between student incivility and nursing faculty job satisfaction in undergraduate nursing programs. Network-level modelling of neural function incorporates activity in specific brain regions along with a measure of the interactions between these regions (“connectivity”). Connectivity can be assessed through several means, for example through tractography (structural connectivity) or correlated temporal evolution of neural activity (functional connectivity). These analyses have provided valuable insight into several aspects of brain function, such as top-down control, memory, and navigation. This Article offers a comprehensive framework for States’ taxing powers in outer space. Beginning with an analysis of the legal status of airspace and outer space, the study addresses the taxation of commercial space activities, where traditional fiscal approaches of residence-based and source-based taxation break down. The discussion ultimately centers on Article VIII of the Outer Space Treaty, on which basis the present Article proposes the “Tax Jurisdiction by Registration Principle,” arguing that the act of registering a space object provides a legal basis for taxing income derived from its use. Four major generative AI engines—DeepSeek, Claude, ChatGPT, and Grok—are useful legal analysis tools for employment law practitioners. This Article presents the results of an experiment in which a transcript of a hypothetical client interview involving potential disability discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims was submitted to each AI system. The accompanying prompts requested identification and assessment of viable legal theories. The experiment demonstrates that contemporary generative AI performs sophisticated legal analysis comparable to experienced associates, correctly identifying major employment law claims including ADA violations, Title VII discrimination, OSHA retaliation, FMLA interference, and workers’ compensation retaliation. The Nebraska Legislature passed the Let Them Grow Act on May 22, 2023, which prohibits minors from receiving gender-affirming care in Nebraska. This Note argues that the Act violates the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment because it exempts intersex children—those born with ambiguous sex characteristics—from protections against unnecessary, irreversible, and nonconsensual medical procedures, while the Act protects those born with clearly male and female sex characteristics. This Note clarifies the distinction between the issues faced by intersex individuals and transgender individuals, and highlights the psychological and physical harms of early sex assignment surgeries. Litigation routinely employs scientific evidence to aid judicial fact-finding and decision-making. This is especially important in areas like family law, where legal standards—such as the best interests of the child—often depend in part on scientific findings. Yet the legal system’s gatekeeping doctrines (Frye, Daubert, and Federal Rule of Evidence 702) apply primarily to expert testimony, leaving other pathways through which scientific evidence reaches courts largely unchecked. This report evaluates four leading open educational resource (OER) math homework systems—MyOpenMath, WeBWorK, Ximera, and XYZ Homework—for their suitability in Bentley University’s first-year mathematics courses. The review compares cost, usability, LMS integration, available content, and alignment with Bentley curricula. MyOpenMath emerges as the strongest option due to its usability, robust problem libraries, and fully free access. XYZ Homework offers comparable features but includes student fees. Ximera and WeBWorK provide powerful capabilities but require greater technical expertise. The report concludes with recommendations for implementation and needed faculty support.

The practice of cloistering allows women to exist in spaces dedicated to meditation and religious devotion. The physical nature of the cloister, which involves walls separating these religious women from the world, maintains a distinction between the cloister as spiritual and the world as secular.

One of the many titles of the Virgin Mary is the hortus conclusus, or “walled garden.” This metaphor is intended to emphasize her spiritual separation from the sins of the world, as well as her perpetual virginity. As the world grows more interconnected through globalization, the opportunity for international parental kidnapping has increased. International parental kidnapping occurs when a parent or guardian wrongfully removes and retains a child from their habitual residency, even with the existence of a custody agreement. This article examines the role of the International Criminal Police Organization (“Interpol”) and how their use of Red and Yellow Notices can meddle in international custody disputes. Thymic epithelial tumors (TET), comprising various histologic types of thymomas and thymic carcinomas, originate from thymic epithelial cells (TEC). Each histologic type is typically associated with a distinct immune cell composition and clinical manifestation. A better understanding of the cellular origins and molecular pathways underlying this heterogeneity is needed to improve patient stratification and treatment. In this study, we conducted an integrated genomic and transcriptomic analysis of 124 thymomas and 13 thymic carcinomas, including 20 newly sequenced cases, combined with 117 cases from publicly available datasets. BACKGROUND. Gut microbes and their metabolites contribute to the host circulating metabolome and exhibit diurnal variation influenced by sleep-wake cycles and meal timing. Sleep deprivation alters the rhythmic circulating metabolome, but its impact on microbial metabolites remains unclear. We tested whether 24-hour circulating metabolite profiles, including those of microbial origin, differ under normal (habitual) versus short-term restricted sleep.

METHODS. In a randomized crossover design, 9 healthy adults completed 2 in-lab 24-hour blood sampling sessions (q120): one following 3 nights of normal sleep (8.5 hours/night), the other following 3 nights of sleep restriction (4.5 hours/night). Meal timing and caloric intake were …
