Adults with mental illnesses have been disproportionately represented in the criminal justice system, often due to limited access to timely mental health treatment and fragmented community-based support. When continuity of care was inadequate, justice involvement frequently replaced coordinated interventions designed to promote stabilization and recovery. This qualitative study was guided by the sequential intercept model and the risk-need-responsivity model to examine how multidisciplinary treatment teams influenced rehabilitation and reoffending outcomes among formerly incarcerated adults diagnosed with mental illness. The authors reviewed the pathophysiology, clinical genetics, phenotype, and comprehensive clinical management of Fragile X-associated Tremor/Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS), a neurodegenerative disorder affecting FMR1 premutation carriers (55–200 CCG repeats).

Participants: 

A multispecialty and multidisciplinary team of authors with backgrounds in psychiatry, pediatrics, clinical psychology, speech and language pathology, and neurosciences.

Evidence: 

Review of English language sources on the clinical phenomenology, genetics, pathophysiology, and clinical management of FXTAS from 2001 (the original report) through 2025, with emphasis on the general medical, psychiatric, and neurological features of FXTAS and its multispecialty and multidisciplinary clinical management.

Using satellite-derived abundance indices over 20 years, we investigated population change among the seven Ross Sea emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) colonies. We found a 90% probability that the Ross Sea metapopulation had lower springtime attendance between 2005 and 2024 (mean change = -23%; 95% CI: -46 to +20%). We identified two distinct phases of change: slightly increasing 2005 to 2019/2020, followed by a steep decline 2020-2024, resulting in a decrease of approximately 23 000 birds in 5 years or approximately 32% of the regional population. Silicosis is a lung disease caused by inhalation of respirable silica particles. Silicosis is usually characterized by high occupational exposure to silica in industries like mining, sandblasting, construction, and stone fabrication. Recent research showing increasing rates of silicosis among native Spanish-speaking workers demonstrates the need for improved silicosis diagnosis and patient education. While research has been done to understand the epidemiological distribution of silicosis and native Spanish-speaking workers, there has been limited research evaluating occupational medicine providers’ clinical practices related to the diagnosis of silicosis among this population.

However,  numerous studies indicate that this carnivore is in decline, and it is currently classified  as near threatened on the IUCN Red List of threatened species. INTRODUCTION: Although cortisone injections are commonly used, patient understanding of cortisone is variable and often affected by misconceptions. This study explores patient perspectives, identifies misconceptions, and emphasizes the importance of improved patient education to enhance patient-centered care.

METHODS: A cross-sectional survey study was conducted from April to August 2024 among patients aged 18 and older presenting to an orthopedic physicians' office. Patients completed a novel anonymous questionnaire designed to assess their knowledge and perceptions of cortisone injections. Copyright law is unusual. Unlike virtually every other area of U.S. law, the Copyright Act allows people to change their minds and unilaterally cancel otherwise valid contracts. Thirty-five years after transferring or licensing their copyrights to others, authors—or their heirs—can terminate the grant for any reason, and the copyright reverts to its original owners. These termination of transfer provisions aren’t just unusual as a matter of law generally; they are also atypical for copyright law. Immigration-related retaliation is a well-documented consequence for noncitizen workers who report dangerous and unlawful working conditions. Many noncitizen workers are tethered to their employers for legal status and work authorization, and this power dynamic often prevents them from speaking out for fear of being fired or deported. Little academic attention has been paid to a Biden-era initiative designed to assuage the threat of immigration-related retaliation against workers. Depression, although a consequence of sexual violence, has not been studied in the context of college students’ views of campus sexual violence climate. Depression is one of the most prevalent and impairing mental health concerns among college students and has well-established links to sexual violence victimization; therefore, it serves as a theoretically and clinically meaningful focal outcome. Therefore, we assessed perceptions of institutional climate in the context of self-reported depression. Undergraduates (n = 716) reported perceptions and experiences of campus sexual violence and misconduct, connectedness, attitude, and depressive symptoms in an online survey. Knowledge of arsenic inorganic speciation in groundwaters is critical for optimising water treatment approaches. Here, we characterise the on-site analytical performance of the As(V)-selective ImpAs ion-exchange resin to separate As(V) from As(III) in groundwater with contrasting redox conditions. Field speciation results obtained by ImpAs in the oxic, Fe-poor groundwaters of Guanajuato (Mexico) and in the reducing, Fe-rich groundwaters of West Bengal (India) agreed with voltammetry (slope of 0.91 ± 0.03, r = 0.99, p <  0.001, n = 21). Like for arsenic, oxyanions of Mo, V, U and Cr are retained by ImpAs but their reduced hydroxy forms are not. High As(V) extraction by ImpAs (>95%) was obtained in synthetic groundwater for hundreds of samples without any regeneration, highlighting negligible interactions of major anions such as sulfate, a major advantage over …

Epithelioid haemangioendothelioma (EHE) is a rare vascular sarcoma of intermediate malignancy. In 2023, a 31-year-old female presented to a tertiary care hospital in Muscat, Oman, with symptoms later diagnosed as primary vaginal EHE. The patient had primary, locally invasive vaginal EHE that subsequently metastasised to the lungs. The patient experienced progression of systemic disease despite chemotherapy and was therefore transitioned to palliative chemotherapy. The clinical, radiological and histopathological findings as well as the diagnostic features that distinguish EHE from its aggressive mimic, epithelioid angiosarcoma, are described in this report. Despite these challenges, few school-based interventions offer timely, individualized support that addresses educators’ real-time emotional needs. This mixed-methods study examined the influence of the Alongside for Educators application on educator well-being within middle and high school settings. Abstract: Gaussian splatting suffers from geometric distortion during scene reconstruction, particularly in weakly textured indoor scenes. To address this issue, this paper proposes a high-precision indoor scene reconstruction method that integrates geometric priors and importance sampling. The proposed method fully considers the effect of the initialization process on reconstruction quality. An advanced feed-forward model is employed to generate high-quality geometric initialization, thus improving overall reconstruction stability and accuracy.
