The rapid growth of connected devices in healthcare environments has significantly expanded the cybersecurity threat landscape, extending the potential risks beyond traditional hospital networks. Regulatory guidance from the FDA and risk management frameworks such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (NIST CSF) provide an approach for managing cybersecurity risk in connected systems. However, these principles are not always applied during early stages of device development. As a result, security consideration may be deferred until later stages of development, allowing for vulnerabilities to persist in systems as they move toward clinical or commercial deployment. Objective: To evaluate how the time interval between root canal obturation and the placement of a definitive restoration impacts the incidence of tooth failure, defined as non-surgical retreatment, apical surgery, or extraction. Methods: This 22-year-retrospective cohort study utilized electronic health records from the Marquette University School of Dentistry (MUSoD) axiUm database, analyzing 11,002 teeth treated between 2004 and 2026. Inclusion criteria required patients to be at least 18 years of age, categorized as established patients of record, with all non-surgical root canal treatments (NSRCT) meeting the 2020 AAE quality standards. The shock-induced α → ε → α phase transition in iron-based alloys is critical for understanding material behavior under high strain rate loading, such as in impacts or explosions. However, the influence of elevated temperatures on this transition remains underexplored in low carbon steels. This thesis uses plate impact experiments with a light gas gun to investigate the effects of preheating up to 200°C on the Hugoniot, spall strength, and phase transition of a low carbon steel. A descriptive multi-site correlational study design was used to test a modified instrument to determine its ability to assess students consistently across settings using a group of prelicensure pediatric students enrolled in two different pediatric clinical environments. Two participant groups were intentionally recruited including clinical instructors teaching in pediatric clinical environments and their corresponding students practicing in pediatric simulation and traditional clinical environments. Inter-rater reliability of the instrument was achieved. Prelicensure nursing students were deemed competent in the care of children across settings. The purpose of this study was to examine the perspectives of autistic adults and parents of autistic children regarding applied behavior analysis (ABA)-based early intervention, their beliefs about best practices in early intervention, and their recommendations for improving service delivery. A mixed-methods design was used to compare quantitative survey data from 70 participants (33 autistic adults, 37 parents) with qualitative interview responses (12 autistic adults, 12 parents), exploring perceptions of ABA and early intervention implementation. Quantitative analyses revealed significant group differences in perceptions of ABA’s benefits and side effects: parents rated ABA-based interventions more positively overall, whereas autistic adults expressed …

Background: Hispanic youth are disproportionately impacted by obesity and subsequent type 2 diabetes (T2D) yet remain underrepresented in diabetes prevention research. Digital health interventions hold promise for increasing the accessibility to and engagement in disease prevention programming, particularly among high-risk populations. However, there is a significant gap in the literature regarding digital T2D prevention programs for adolescents or Hispanic youth.

Objective: The objective of this article is to describe the protocol for examining the feasibility of a 12-week digital diabetes prevention program among Hispanic adolescents with obesity.

It seeks to answer how microalgae can enhance probiotic viability during processing and gastrointestinal transit, and what advantages they offer over conventional encapsulation agents, thereby supporting the development of more effective, sustainable probiotic delivery solutions.Recent findings: Recent research highlights that microalgae such as Chlorella vulgaris and Isochrysis galbana possess robust cell structures and bioactive compounds, including polysaccharides, polyunsaturated fatty acids, and antioxidants, which confer protection to probiotics and contribute beneficial prebiotic effects. Background: The Impella family of percutaneous a left ventricular assist devices are increasingly used for hemodynamic support in patients with cardiogenic shock or advanced heart failure. However, guidance on anesthetic management for patients with Impella support undergoing noncardiac procedures remains sparse. This study reviews perioperative practices and outcomes to inform clinical management.

4-Dimethylamino-2′-hydroxychalcone (DHC) derivatives are known to exhibit distinctive photophysical properties for various applications, including highly fluorescent crystals and molecular imaging. In a continuous effort to establish the structure–property correlation of this class of materials, a series of methoxy-substituted chalcone derivatives with extended π-conjugation have been synthesized to understand the effect of methoxy substituents on the intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) along the backbone. These derivatives displayed low fluorescence in protic solvents (e.g. ϕfl ≈ 0.003–0.009 in H2O), but high fluorescence in a polar aprotic solvent (ϕfl ≈ 0.2–0.35 in DMSO), with emission maxima up to 658 nm.
