A lack of effective funding strategies can negatively affect nonprofit program sustainability and growth. Nonprofit leaders are concerned with inadequate funding practices as they lessen organizational sustainability, donor trust, and reliable program delivery. Grounded in deontological ethical theory, the purpose of this qualitative pragmatic inquiry was to explore funding strategies nonprofit leaders use to expand and sustain programs and services. The participants were eight nonprofit leaders from the West Coast of the United States with 10+ years of leadership experience. Food insecurity (FI) is a persistent public health challenge in the United States and disproportionately affects rural communities. Guided by syndemic theory, this quantitative cross-sectional study examined associations between FI and chronic disease outcomes among rural residents of Vermont and the Adirondack region of New York. Social determinants of health screenings and electronic medical records from 35 rural primary care sites were analyzed. Secondary data from n = 72,505 adults were used to evaluate these relationships. Myeloid malignancies carrying somatic DNMT3A mutations (DNMT3Amut) are refractory to standard therapy. DNMT3Amut leukemia cells accumulate toxic DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) and stalled replication forks, rendering them dependent on DNA damage response (DDR). We report here that DNA polymerase theta (Polθ), a key element in DSB repair by end-joining (Polθ-mediated end-joining [TMEJ]) and in fork restarting, promotes survival and proliferation of DNMT3Amut leukemia cells. Polθ is overexpressed in DNMT3Amut leukemia cells due to abrogation of PARP1 PARylation-dependent UBE2O E3 ligase-mediated ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of Polθ. As the conservative-dominated Supreme Court continues to accrue its power, commentators on both the political right and left suggest that those pursuing progressive policy goals would do well to turn to originalist methodology. Many of the Justices on the Court purport to be originalists, and progressive originalist arguments are more likely to appeal to this otherwise tough crowd. Haven’t progressives heard that we’re all originalists now? I argue that originalism’s appeal to progressives is largely illusory. An “underrule” occurs when the Supreme Court renders a decision diametrically opposed to a prior case without explicitly overruling the prior case. With the decision in Alexander v. South Carolina State Conference NAACP in 2024, the Court has now issued two underrules during the development of its racial gerrymandering jurisprudence. These underrules, particularly in a politically sensitive area such as racial gerrymandering, undermine confidence in the judiciary. But underrules are nothing new to doctrinal development in the realm of race and redistricting. In nine treaties signed by Tribal Nations and the United States between 1867 and 1868, the United States promised redress to Native Americans for wrongs committed against them by “bad men among the whites.” Today, Native Americans are more likely to be killed by police than any other group, with much of this violence concentrated near the borders of Tribal Nations. Although claims brought under the “bad men” treaty clauses offer an avenue for combatting this epidemic of violence, courts have begun interpreting the clauses to apply only when “wrongs” occur within Tribal boundaries. Plaintiffs alleging disability discrimination under New Mexico law face significantly higher barriers than plaintiffs alleging other types of discrimination. The plain text of the New Mexico Human Rights Act (“NMHRA”) provides equal protections against discrimination based on characteristics such as race, gender, pregnancy, and disability. However, by relying on federal disability law to guide the interpretation of the NMHRA in cases of disability discrimination, New Mexico courts have effectively created a two-tiered system in which claims of disability discrimination face higher barriers to prevail in an administrative adjudication and survive summary judgment than other discrimination claims. Juror decision-making is inherently influenced by psychological biases, which pose a significant challenge to the fairness and accuracy of proximate cause determinations in tort cases. This Article explores the cognitive and social biases—such as hindsight bias, primacy, anchoring, belief in a just world, and moral outrage—that affect jurors as they engage in the complex reasoning required to assess foreseeability and causation. Given that jurors must disregard their knowledge of actual harm and set aside emotional responses to tragic injuries, the risk of bias is substantial. This doctoral project develops and reviews a comprehensive framework for infusion scheduling transformation that integrates workforce role redesign, site‑level communication pathways, and data‑informed workqueue governance. Background: Fungal meningitis outbreaks are rare and entail high mortality rates. Beginning May 2023, we investigated fungal meningitis caused by Fusarium solani species complex occurring in US patients who received epidural anesthesia in Matamoros, Mexico.

Methods: Early epidemiological information suggested US patients with suspected fungal meningitis had undergone mostly cosmetic procedures under epidural anesthesia performed in 2 Matamoros clinics. US patients known to have received surgery at these clinics during 1 January-13 May 2023 (clinic closures date) were identified and notified by public health officials. Introduction: Physical activity is fundamental for children’s health and well-being, yet most children are not active enough. School-based interventions aiming to increase children’s physical activity have largely been ineffective, perhaps due to a lack of consideration of the unique culture within each school. The aim of this paper is to understand the key aspects of physical activity culture in English primary schools using the organizational culture framework.

Facial action unit (AU) recognition is used in a variety of downstream applications, including sign language translation, dementia detection, pain detection, and other high-impact tasks that require understanding facial motion. Although AU recognition is a well-established field, a number of unresolved issues remain. An initial problem is the need to improve overall performance on the benchmark datasets, as measured by the average F1 score. Food loss and waste (FLW) present pressing environmental and economic challenges. Upcycling technologies provide a sustainable pathway by transforming food by-products into value-added products; however, consumer acceptance remains a critical barrier. Guided by Self-Determination Theory (SDT), this study investigates how environmental motivations influence consumers’ attitudes and purchase intentions toward milk enriched with upcycled peanut skins. Data were collected from a nationally representative sample of 1488 U.S. adults. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to test hypothesized relationships among motivational constructs, and cluster analysis was used to identify consumer segments based on motivational profiles. This design explores the transformation of a basic bodice by relocating the waist dart to the shoulder to create a clustered effect of three smaller darts. The method used to achieve this is the slashing technique, which allows for controlled redistribution of dart intake. By closing the original waist dart, three evenly distributed darts are opened at the shoulder. This approach enhances both the visual interest and structural design of the garment.

The Appellate Division affirmed the Supreme Court's dismissal of a cooperative landlord's action seeking to retroactively collect 30 years of maintenance fees for additional shares allocated to a tenant. The court found that the proprietary lease's plain language only allowed maintenance collection from the date of issuance, not retroactively. The landlord's claim was also time-barred. Additionally, the court affirmed the grant of attorneys' fees to the tenant under the proprietary lease's reciprocal provision, Real Property Law § 234, because the tenant successfully defended the action to enforce purported obligations.

Treatment decisions in IDH-mutant oligodendrogliomas are shaped by tumor aggressiveness, underscoring the need for objective grading of these malignant brain tumors. We collect 302 primary and recurrent resections from oligodendrogliomas and perform Ki-67 staining, proteomics, and DNA methylation profiling. During tumor progression, DNA methylation of oligodendrogliomas changes along a continuum. This continuum is linked to increased epigenetic aging, methylation of transcription factors and Ki-67+ cell density, and large-scale DNA demethylation. Demethylation correlates with CpG flanking sequences preferred by TET enzymes. We confirm these findings in previously profiled astrocytomas, indicating IDH-mutant gliomas progress along a shared epigenetic axis. We develop an …

Heart weight (HW) is a critical parameter in cardiology and mouse research, commonly normalized to body weight (BW) or tibia length (TL) to account for size differences. Ratio-based normalization, however, assumes strict proportionality between variables, an assumption that is rarely tested and may bias group comparisons. We analysed HW, BW, and TL measurements from over 25,000 C57BL/6N wildtype mice generated by the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium. Sex- and age-stratified analyses were combined with simulation-based modelling to evaluate empirical scaling relationships and the statistical behaviour of ratio-based normalization. Pathogenic free-living amoebae such as Acanthamoeba castellanii are present in soil and water worldwide. A. castellanii causes systemic infections with very high mortality rates, yet drugs specifically targeting this pathogen are not available. Methods to reliably generate and assay cysts, which drive infection recurrence and drug resistance, are unavailable in a high-throughput format suitable for drug screening and testing. In this study, we developed a robust and reproducible protocol for encysting A. castellanii as well as a high-throughput, quantitative cyst viability assay using fluorescent live/dead staining coupled with microscopy and automated image analysis. This study evaluates the petroleum generating potential of the Middle-Late Jurassic Sargelu and Naokelekan Formations across distinct tectonic zones in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq. Source rock quality is assessed through geochemical analyses of organic matter (OM) quantity, type, thermal maturity, and key factors influencing hydro-carbon generation. Rock-Eval pyrolysis was performed on outcrop samples from five sections located within the Imbricated and High Folded Zones of the Zagros Fold-Thrust Belt. Results demonstrate significant variability in total organic carbon (TOC) content, hydro-carbon generation potential (as reflected by S1, S2, and genetic potential values.), and kerogen types across these zones.
