Immunotherapy has seen success in treating patients with cancer, but variable responses underscore the need for effective patient stratification and therapy planning. Computational tools integrating multi-omics, imaging and machine learning have advanced, yet reliable personalized predictions remain challenging. This review analyzes the field through four converging paradigms: classical machine learning, deep learning, graph and network modeling, and mechanistic systems biology. We examine the evolution from correlational features to representation learning, relational inference, and causal simulation of tumor-immune dynamics, highlighting the shift towards multi-modal fusion and interpretable, clinically deployable models. Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is a rare, age-related neurodegenerative disease that shares clinical and pathological features with Parkinson's disease (PD) but presents a more devastating disease course. To elucidate the distinct cellular pathophysiology, we performed single-nucleus RNA sequencing on postmortem striatal brain tissue from 7 MSA and 12 PD patients, and 10 non-neurological cases. Here, we show significant compositional differences in astroglia and microglia subtypes, while oligodendroglia and neurons are comparable. PD brains show abundant microglia expressing MHC class II HLA haplotypes, indicative of a proinflammatory state, alongside more homeostatic astrocytes. Educational buildings increasingly face climate-driven overheating and shifting energy demand, yet transnational campuses often replicate “home-campus” typologies without climate adaptation. This study evaluates climate-responsive envelope and HVAC strategies for a higher-education studio floor in London and office spaces in Cairo using calibrated dynamic simulations supported by in-situ monitoring with 10-minutes interval temperature and CO2 in London, short-term temperature and relative humidity in Cairo. Three scenarios were tested as follow. S01 natural ventilation; S02 mixed-mode/HVAC with existing envelope; and S03 mixed-mode/HVAC with enhanced envelope. The purpose of this dissertation study was to understand the perceived effects of long-term COVID-19 on Black essential workers at the height of the pandemic and overall impact on mental health. The researcher interviewed 19 Black essential workers from Texas, across economic sectors (e.g., healthcare, sanitation), and who experienced long COVID symptoms. Findings centered across four themes: asking for help during the pandemic, COVID symptoms, being Black, and mental health. Using a theoretical approach incorporating critical race theory and social determinants of mental health, findings revealed the ways systemic racism affected these Black essential workers. The purpose of this dissertation was to expand the body of knowledge on physical activity (PA) interventions and their impact on quality of life (QoL) and motivation among university faculty mothers, a population facing unique challenges in balancing professional and caregiving responsibilities. This study utilized an eight-week "Move Your WayⓇ" (MYWⓇ) PA intervention grounded in Self-Determination Theory (SDT) to explore its effects on QoL, PA levels, and exercise motivation. A total of 22 university faculty mothers participated in the study, completing pre-, mid-, and post-intervention assessments using validated tools, including the WHOQOL-BREF, IPAQ-SF, and BREQ-3. Background – This study draws on data from a larger international project exploring parents' perceptions of the education of their children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Using responses from 1, 309 parents in Australia, England, Germany, and Norway it examines parental satisfaction with mainstream and special schools, and parents' school placement preferences, including willingness to change schools. Parental satisfaction is assessed as an overall evaluation of how well the child's school placement meets their needs, without distinguishing between specific aspects of the school experience. Empirical research on culturally engaging advising (CEA) for international graduate students, particularly in relation to their cultural backgrounds and identities, remains limited. This study addresses this gap by employing collaborative autoethnography and drawing on CEA and intersectionality frameworks to examine the experiences of four South Korean women doctoral students in the social sciences. Findings highlight challenges these students face due to their intersectional identities as Asian, Korean women and non-native English speakers. This study examines how cultural perceptions of aging influence the structure and delivery of care for older adults in Japan and the United States. By comparing cultural attitudes, this study identifies implications for senior care in each country. While cross-cultural studies comparing senior care systems exist, many lack the cultural context that shapes expectations about aging and care. This work focuses on this distinction. Results revealed 2 major themes: (1) Perception of burden with a subtheme of fear of burdening others, and (2) Perception of successful aging with a subtheme of aging as contentment vs. engagement. This study examined how teachers in China and the United States perceive using AI in education, their experiences with using AI in teaching and facilitating student learning, and factors associated with AI use. Analysis of data from TALIS 2024 revealed that Chinese teachers reported more positive views of AI benefits, and American teachers had more concerns about using AI. A major reason for all teachers’ not using AI is due to their lack of knowledge and skills to teach using artificial intelligence.
