Despite ongoing HIV prevention efforts, risky sexual behavior among transgender women remains a major public health concern in Indonesia. However, limited evidence is available regarding the determinants of sexual behavior among transgender women. This study aimed to analyze the main determinants influencing sexual behavior among transgender women in Palembang City and Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia. A quantitative ap-proach with a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 233 transgender women. Sampling was conducted using the Time Loca-tion Sampling (TLS) method in collaboration with Warna Sriwijaya Foundation between June and October 2025. The prevalence of overweight in adolescents aged 13–15 has increased from 2018 (11.2%) to 2023 (12.1%), as well as the impacts caused in the short and long term related to degenerative diseases. This study aimed to analyze the influence of Ultra-Processed Food (UPF) consumption habits and physical activity on overweight incidence among adolescents. A quantitative approach was employed, involving 280 junior high school students in Tangerang Regency, Banten Province, Indonesia, selected through quota sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Neonatal hypothyroidism screening plays a crucial role in preventing irreversible neurological disorders causing developmental delays. Therefore, the policy decisions are needed based on context-appropriate cost-effectiveness analysis studies. Trend of evidence on cost-effectiveness is still dominated by studies from high-income countries. This evidence cannot be directly generalized to developing countries context such as Indonesia, which differ in health systems, financing, and access to services. Journal of the Hong Kong College of Cardiology

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and atrial fibrillation (AF) are common conditions that significantly impact gastrointestinal and cardiovascular health. Emerging evidence suggests a bidirectional relationship between these conditions, mainly driven by inflammation and vagal nerve stimulation. Shared risk factors include obesity, obstructive sleep apnea, and hiatal hernias. This review explores the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms that may link GERD and AF, focusing on the roles of autonomic dysregulation, systemic inflammation, and mechanical interactions that may cause symptoms for both diseases. Mcconnell Caught In 3d: Comparison With Other Etiologies Of Right Ventricular Failure, Shing Ching, Karl Chan

Journal of the Hong Kong College of Cardiology

The McConnell sign is a well-recognized 2D echocardiographic feature of pulmonary embolism characterized by apparent hypokinesia of right ventricular mid and apical free wall segments. However, it is rarely described in 3D echocardiography. We report a case of high-risk pulmonary embolism with the McConnell sign demonstrated in 3D echocardiography. Comparison with other etiologies of right ventricular dysfunction regarding 3D morphology and 2D speckle tracking strain is also discussed.

Pupils in England who for some reason are not able to attend school often find themselves in Alternative Provision (AP). These are special arrangements designed to address their specific needs and help them return to mainstream schooling. AP involves a financial agreement between the provider and the organisation that commissions the provision and thus operates as an explicit form of education market in which educational services are traded directly for financial recompense. Diversifying modalities or modes of program delivery inside prisons is necessary and important to increase access to programs; however, this also demands that learning is intended to occur in most places of a prison. In this paper I present the concept prison-less places, relational, temporary places where the prison is less noticeable and where learning becomes possible. Exploring three dimensions of learning, I argue that the existence of prison-less places brings balance to these dimensions and is crucial for learning to occur inside prisons. Capitalism began in murder. Bodies were marked by slavery, colonialism, and genocide, white to have, and black to have not. Capitalism, “covered in dirt and dripping with blood,” was born of these three “primitive accumulations.” Slavery is death, and just like colonialism and genocide, it is a capital sentence. The law of capital punishment continues this legacy of murder and racism, as if on “rails to infinity.” This article uses insights from the critique of political economy to examine the death penalty, and the role of law generally, in maintaining racial and other inequalities. This essay describes how the Judicial Conference of the United States elected to reform the provision of transcripts to indigent persons appealing criminal convictions in federal court. A conviction cannot be appealed without a transcript, but, by definition, indigent persons cannot afford to purchase them. A series of Supreme Court decisions held that indigent persons had to be provided transcripts without charge. However, the practical implementation of that right was blocked. In the federal system, appointed counsel had to request production of transcripts using Criminal Justice Act Form 24. That form required special permission for the court reporter to produce …

The correlation of legal safeguards and human psychology amplifying prejudice within the courtroom creates a perpetual challenge for those tasked with ensuring fairness in judicial proceedings. This paper focuses on the limitations of court mechanisms such as objections, jury instructions, and subsequent curative instructions in mitigating the effects of prejudicial evidence. Through case law coupled with cinematic examples and psychological theories, this paper highlights the battle between coexisting human psychology and prejudicial influences on jury decision-making. The proposed remedies within the text include enhanced jury education, pre-trial intervention, and post-trial juror reviews, all to minimize the prejudicial impact.

This Note analyzes the role of religious exemptions in federal and state child welfare statutes in facilitating abuse within the Troubled Teen Industry (TTI), a loosely defined network of residential treatment programs, wilderness camps, and therapeutic boarding schools. Although religious exemptions were originally intended to safeguard religious liberty and parental rights, their statutory design has produced significant regulatory gaps that permit certain faith-affiliated institutions to operate with minimal oversight. By tracing the historical development of these exemptions and examining their contemporary application across multiple jurisdictions, this Note demonstrates how religious status can function as a shield against meaningful accountability. The Science Of Attachment: How Early Bonds Shape Who We Become, Rani Patel

Attachments theories suggest the answer begins in infancy. Originally developed by John Bowlby and later supported by the “Strange Situation” attachment research conducted by Mary Ainsworth, attachment science shows that the quality of early interactions with caregivers influence how children develop trust, seek support, and manage emotions. Through years of empirical research psychologists have identified four main attachment styles, secure, anxious, avoidant, and disorganized, later connected to relationship patterns. Modern research also highlights that attachment patterns are not permanent, supportive experiences later in life can promote growth and change.

The goal of this project was to address a lack of current, evidence-based knowledge of nurses regarding pain reassessment. The context for this project was a medical-surgical area in a rural hospital. Chest X-rays (CXRs) have been utilized as an important tool for diagnosing thoracic diseases because of their cost-effectiveness and accessibility. However, subtle signs of diseases, anatomical overlap and lack of expert radiologist in certain areas lead to difficulty in reading the CXRs.
