Although the number of immigrants coming from Latin America to United States decreased in the last years, due to the aggressive immigration policies implemented by the current federal administration, the Latin American diaspora has been the main immigration driver to this country since the 1970s. According to the Migration Policy Institute, in 2023, nearly 45 per cent of immigrants in US (21.5 million people) reported having Hispanic or Latino origins.1 These facts alone have made Latin American one of the most significant cultural identities in US today. Ta-Nehisi Coates’s The Message came out in the fall of 2024. It had been ten years since The Atlantic article, “The Case for Reparations,” had propelled him into the national spotlight. Nine years since, his Between the World and Me won a National Book Award and began to be read in many U.S. high schools. Both of these works examined the history and realities of African Americans in the United States. This paper examines how the combination of minimalism, semiotics, and branding psychology work seamlessly together to create an inclusive brand with an emotionally resonate visual identity system-- a brand that is cohesive and bridges the sub-brands of EurekaFit and Eureka CrossFit. What initially started as a logo redesign of Eureka CrossFit has now expanded into this dual-branding visual system, that communicates approachability, a sense of belonging and fitness, without being intimated, to its audience. Petals of the Mind is an applied studio art project that explores the use of symbolic floral imagery to visually represent internal emotional states, specifically depression, anxiety, and ADHD. This project consists of six large format digital posters created in Procreate. Each emotional category is represented by a pair of flowers selected for their symbolic and structural characteristics: Blue Poppy and Black Rose for depression, Tulip and Aster for anxiety, and Honeysuckle and Wildflower Mix for ADHD. These flowers are intentionally deconstructed through layering, fragmentation, and motion cues to mirror common internal experiences such as emotional heaviness, vigilance, cognitive scattering, …

Spore killer-3 (Sk-3) is a selfish genetic element on Chromosome III of Neurospora that biases its own transmission by killing meiotic products that fail to inherit the element. Although the resistance component of Sk-3 is known, the killer has not been identified. Previous deletion mapping confined the candidate killer region to a small block of DNA near interval i350 and suggested that the nearby 178 bp interval i398 might show different behavior in qualitative versus quantitative assays. To identify factors associated with transitioning from Military Health System (MHS) to Veterans Health Administration (VHA) care in post-9/11 veterans.

Study Setting and Design

Retrospective cohort study from the Long-Term Impact of Military-Relevant Brain Injury Consortium Phenotype Study.

Data Sources and Analytic Sample

Population-level data were analyzed from MHS and VHA electronic health data (FY2000-2020). Participants received ≥ 3 years of MHS care and separated from the military before October 1, 2016. The primary outcome was transition from MHS to VHA care after military separation. Caregivers of children and adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) often experience increased stress, occupational imbalance, and challenges related to maintaining their own health and wellness while managing their child’s complex daily care needs. Despite the significant impact caregiving responsibilities may have on daily routines, self-care, and overall quality of life, occupational therapy’s (OT) role in supporting caregivers within endocrinology settings remains underrecognized. This paper, written as a draft chapter for the Lieber Institute for Law and Land Warfare's forthcoming book on International Law and Artificial Intelligence in Armed Conflict: The AI-Cyber Interplay, explores the IHL implications of a specific subfield or category of AI—Generative AI (GenAI). This new and rapidly evolving technology does not merely analyze or classify data; it also generates original image, audio, and video content. Considering the theme of "voice of freedom" I wanted to explore how speech could both strengthen and weaken freedom. This poem is my attempt to explore the messy realities of freedom and speech and express a glimmer of hope for the future.

Synopsis: Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse is a play about Lilly, a young mouse who loves school and her teacher, Mr. Slinger. When she disrupts class to show off her new treasures, Mr. Slinger confiscates her items, leading Lilly to react with anger before learning to apologize and reconcile.

Tenor of Our Times

The Pinkerton Agency molded into an “arm of capital” used by the wealthy against labor during the Gilded Age. However, such a transition seems confusing given the life of the company’s founder. Allan Pinkerton, once a champion of workers’ rights in his home country of Scotland, seemingly used his agency to side with the wealthy elite. In explaining these shifts, historian Sean Paul O’Hara agrees with a “profits and negative image” narrative.
