This study aims to investigate how online learning self-efficacy, self-regulated learning, and achievement motivation affect students' academic performance in online courses during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study participants were students from the Office Administration Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Surabaya. We used structural equation modelling (SEM) to measure the direct and indirect effects of the structural model. The results show that online learning self-efficacy positively affects self-regulated learning, achievement motivation, and academic performance. However, self-regulated learning and achievement motivation do not affect academic performance, and also do not mediate the relationship between online learning self-efficacy and academic performance.

The environmental impact and denaturing propensity of organic solvents in the extraction of plant bioactives pose great challenges in extraction systems. As a result, proactive consideration of procedures and evidence for tuning water properties for better recovery and positive influence on the green synthesis of products become pivotal. The conventional maceration approach takes a longer duration (1-72 h) for product recovery while percolation, distillation, and Soxhlet extractions take about 1 to 6 h. An intensified modern hydro-extraction process was identified for tuning water properties with an appreciable yield similar to organic solvents within 10-15 min. The percentage yield of tuned …

Association Of IsvSa3 With Multidrug Resistance In Salmonella Enterica Isolates From Cattle (Bos Taurus), Gentry L. Lewis, Robert J. Fenton, Etsuko Moriyama, John Dustin Loy, Rodney A. Moxley

School of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences: Faculty Publications

Salmonella enterica is, globally, an important cause of human illness with beef being a significant attributable source. In the human patient, systemic Salmonella infection requires antibiotic therapy, and when strains are multidrug resistant (MDR), no effective treatment may be available. MDR in bacteria is often associated with the presence of mobile genetic elements (MGE) that mediate horizontal spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes. In this study, we sought to determine the potential relationship of MDR in bovine Salmonella isolates with MGE. The present study involved 111 bovine Salmonella isolates obtained collectively from specimens derived from healthy cattle or their environments …

Exploring Informal Mentoring Relationships Between Faculty And Undergraduate Students At A Midwest, Urban Institution, Thomas O'Ryan Menchhofer

Theses and Dissertations

Mentoring has long been a strategy leveraged to support college students' development and academic success. The majority of studies on mentoring have focused on formal mentoring programs that involve a structure and the support of a program administrator. Studies have focused on mentorship outcomes such as increased academic achievement, persistence and retention, and career support. However, research focused on informal mentoring and the process of initiating and developing a relationship remains limited. This study uses qualitative interview data from 6 faculty and undergraduate student mentoring dyads to understand how participants initiate and further develop informal mentoring relationships and the perceived …

Large-Scale Identification And Analysis Of Factors Impacting Simple Bug Resolution Times In Open Source Software Repositories, Elia Eiroa-Lledo, Rao Hamza Ali, Gabriela Pinto, Jillian Anderson, Erik Linstead

Engineering Faculty Articles and Research

One of the most prominent issues the ever-growing open-source software community faces is the abundance of buggy code. Well-established version control systems and repository hosting services such as GitHub and Maven provide a checks-and-balances structure to minimize the amount of buggy code introduced. Although these platforms are effective in mitigating the problem, it still remains. To further the efforts toward a more effective and quicker response to bugs, we must understand the factors that affect the time it takes to fix one. We apply a custom traversal algorithm to commits made for open source repositories to determine when “simple stupid …

Poetic Theory And Practice In The Ming And Qing Dynasties : Poetry : The Pain Of Loss And The Pleasures Of Everyday Life, Grace Fong

How to Read Chinese Poetry Podcast

In this final episode, we will first listen to the “Song of Suffering Calamity” by the woman poet and scholar Wang Duanshu (1621-ca. 1680), narrating her flight from the invading Qing army during the Ming-Qing transition. We will conclude with two examples by women among the many poems in the Ming and Qing that record quotidian pleasures and reflections on daily life. Whether pain and loss or pleasure and joy, men and women in late imperial China inscribed their emotions and thoughts in poetry.

2020-Current year OA Pubs

MLL-rearrangements (MLL-r) are recurrent genetic events in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and frequently associate with poor prognosis. In infants, MLL-r can be sufficient to drive transformation. However, despite the prenatal origin of MLL-r in these patients, congenital leukemia is very rare with transformation usually occurring postnatally. The influence of prenatal signals on leukemogenesis, such as those mediated by the fetal-specific protein LIN28B, remains controversial. Here, using a dual-transgenic mouse model that co-expresses MLL-ENL and LIN28B, we investigate the impact of LIN28B on AML. LIN28B impedes the progression of MLL-r AML through compromised leukemia-initiating cell activity and suppression of MYB signaling. …
