Substance use disorder (SUD) is a serious public health issue in people with psychiatric disorders. However, diagnosis and treatment are often delayed, leading to poor treatment outcomes and increased social and economic costs. The purpose and aim of this Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project was to educate providers on the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) model to facilitate the timely diagnosis of SUDs in patients with dual diagnoses. Psychiatric providers in outpatient settings often experience inconsistent confidence and incomplete documentation when conducting suicide risk screening, contributing to missed opportunities for early identification of at-risk patients. This quality improvement project addressed the need for standardized suicide risk screening at an urban outpatient psychiatric clinic. The purpose was to evaluate documentation using the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS). Using a pre-post intervention design guided by Lewin's Change Theory and the Donabedian Model of Quality Improvement, a 60-minute training session was delivered to 31 psychiatric providers. Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and ADHD-like symptoms, such as difficulty concentrating, mental fatigue, and problems with executive functioning, are increasingly recognized in adults. Although medication is commonly used to manage ADHD, there is growing interest in whether nutrition may also play a role in supporting brain function and attention. Several nutrients involved in brain health including omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B12, magnesium, iron, and choline  have been suggested as potential contributors to cognitive performance and attention. However, the research examining the connection between diet and ADHD symptoms is still limited and sometimes shows mixed results.

Background/Significance: SVEs describe the physiological, psychological, and professional impact experienced by providers involved in near misses, adverse events, and unanticipated patient outcomes.^1-3 Studies estimate that more than half of providers have SVEs and their sequelae at least once in their lifetime, further exacerbated by a lack of institutional support, potentially contributing to burnout, compassion fatigue, and attrition.^1-4 Existing literature addresses SVE in physicians and nurses; even so, the literature is sparse when it comes to APPs, providers positioned between nursing and medical models, often navigating clinical spaces without structured support systems.

Purpose: This study examined how years of experience, social support, and resilience influence burnout, secondary traumatic stress, and compassion satisfaction among ED nurses across the United States.

Methods: A cross-sectional design was used. This year-long senior design project focused on improving accessibility and workplace safety for staff and student employees in the Access Services department at Coates Library at Trinity University. The existing fixed shelving behind the service desk requires frequent overhead reaching and awkward lifting, creating ergonomic risks and limiting accessibility for workers of varying heights and physical abilities. At the same time, the library must maintain dense storage within limited space. The goal of this project was to design, construct, and evaluate a modular vertical movable shelving system that improves accessibility while preserving storage capacity and integrating with existing workflows.

Wine is highly sensitive to environmental conditions, particularly from changes in temperature and physical shock, both of which can either degrade the quality of the wine or cause permanent damage to it. Existing wine transport options are often expensive, single-use, poorly insulated, or not compliant with airline regulations. Eco-material sheets often shrink, warp, or cure unevenly during drying, making it difficult for Makerspace users to prepare repeatable samples for testing and prototyping. The Organic Textiles project addressed this problem by designing and validating a makerspace-compatible thermo-mechanical press for post-processing already formed eco-material sheets. The final prototype uses heated aluminum platens, guided vertical compression, closed-loop temperature control, and a laptop-based graphical user interface to soften, press, and cool representative sheets under controlled conditions.

In fMRI it is desirable to obtain images with high contrast and low noise at a high spatio-temporal resolution. Doing so allows for a more reliable assessment of capturing brain dynamics in higher detail. Many techniques have been employed and tested to collect more images per unit of time and/or increase spatial resolution, while maintaining a high quality image. During a college softball game, the left fielder (patient A) and center fielder (Patient B) collide while attempting to catch a fly ball. Patient A immediately lost consciousness and Patient B screamed in pain grabbing her right leg. The athletic trainer (AT) and student athletic trainer access and triage the players. Upon the AT's arrival, Patient A became conscious, appeared confused, denied distress, and complained of jaw pain. Patient B continued to have upper right leg pain. Both athletes are helped off the field and the on-call physician is asked to come to the field.
