The term "functional foods" is often used as a generic description for the beneficial effects of ingested foods that go beyond their traditional nutritive value (Bauman et al., 2001). Milk and dairy products are important dietary sources of nutrients, providing energy, high quality protein, and a variety of vitamins and minerals. Recent research has focused on altering the fat and protein content of milk and other dairy products in order to improve their nutrient content to more aptly reflect current dietary recommendations and trends. In Mexico, the selection of maize cultivars for forage has mainly been based on dry matter (DM) yields, not considering nutritional quality as an important evaluation parameter. The objective of this study was to assess forage yield and nutritive value of Highland and Subtropical maize cultivars for silage in the Highland Valleys of Central México.

The study aims to identify soft-computing-based software fault prediction models that assist in resolving issues related to the quality, reliability, and cost of the software projects. It proposes models for implementation of software fault prediction using decision-tree regression and the K-nearest neighbor technique of machine learning. The proposed models have been designed and implemented in Python using designed metric suites as input, and the predicted-faults as output, for the real-time, wider dataset from the Promise repository. Recently, social trust information has become a significant additional factor in obtaining high-quality recommendations. It has also helped to alleviate the problems of collaborative filtering. In this paper, we exploit explicit and implicit trust relations and incorporate them to take advantage of more ratings (as they exist) of trusted neighbors to mitigate the sparsity issue. We further apply the idea of weighted voting of the ensemble classifier for the election of the most appropriate trust neighbors’ ratings. Additionally, the certainty of these elected rating values was confirmed by calculating their reliability using a modified version of Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient. Finally, …

Organizations with cloud computing operations set up connectivity between their networks to facilitate secure, low cost communication. Such inter-organization connectivity opens up network boundaries to applications running in networks that belong to cross-border business units or organizations. Participating organizations require secure, tamper-proof audit trails of communications across network boundaries without relying on the cloud provider. This disclosure describes blockchain-based techniques to provide trust, immutability, and independent verifiability of audit logs of network traffic between organizations. Following a traumatic brain injury, microglia become overactive for long periods and display pathologic behavior. We have shown that concentrated conditioned media from adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSC-CCM) can suppress microglial activation. In this pilot study, we evaluated the efficacy of exosomes containing TNF-stimulated gene 6 (TSG6) derived from MSC-CCM on decreasing microglial activation in vitro via phagocytic activity and pro-inflammatory microglial gene expression.

Mathematical modeling can be useful in helping us to understand disease dynamics. Epidemiological models consist of differential equations with variables and parameters defined to portray these dynamics. The COVID-19 pandemic posed a serious threat to life on the entire planet, necessitating the imposition of a lockdown mechanism that restricted people’s movements to stop the disease’s spread. This period experienced a decline in air pollution emissions and some environmental changes, offering a rare opportunity to understand the effects of fewer human activities on the earth’s temperature.
