Naphtha is an important distillation product of crude oil, and is used as a raw material for first-generation products such as ethylene, propylene, gasoline, xylene (BTX), and others. However, due to the different sources of crude oil, differences in naphtha composition impact the quality of conversion processes. Parameters such as pressure, charge flow, and temperature need to be adjusted for conversion efficiency. This work aims to compare naphtha samples from different origins, through the analysis of distillation curve (ASTM D86), density (ASTM D4052), total sulfur (ASTM D4294), and n-paraffins, iso-paraffins, olefins, naphthene, and aromatics (PIONA, ASTM D5134). Bioinspired flight serves to balance the advantages of fixed-wing flight as well as traditional rotary systems. A flapping wing aerial system exhibits high maneuverability at low speeds like a rotary system and the higher efficiency that fixed-wing systems exhibit in forward flight. A method to actuate a flapping wing structure is using piezoelectric elements. Using flapping wings to perform aerial maneuvers and facilitate stable flight will require precise control of the piezoelectric elements and control surfaces. This study aimed to analyze changes in perceived stress and physiological variables in undergraduate students and identify preferred adaptive coping strategies utilized over one semester. Additionally, the study aimed to assess the impact of demographic factors on the students' perception of stress. A quasi-experimental study was conducted using non-random convenience sampling with 30 undergraduate students enrolled in an Introduction to Stress Management class at a small, regional institution in the upper Midwest in the fall of 2022.

In recent years, climate change has gone from a distant threat to an imminent reality. Many countries around the world are being impacted by climate change in different ways. However, decolonized countries are having more difficulty adjusting to and addressing climate change related problems, and these are being compounded by their sociopolitical and economic problems. In Brazil, the deforestation of the Amazon for the sake of agro-extractive capitalism has both accelerated climate change and expelled the Amazonian indigenous inhabitants. Adolescence is an important developmental period marked by a search for identity and an increase in impulsive behaviors and intense emotions. The current study explored how a combined art therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS) model is beneficial and appropriate for adolescents in a school setting. A brief art therapy group was facilitated with students at a therapeutic high school. The intervention integrated IFS approaches, including externalization and guided visualizations, with the goal of understanding parts and increasing self-compassion. Three main themes emerged based on observations of the sessions: 1) the concept of parts encouraged self-understanding and reduced shame; 2) …

The disparities in alcohol-attributed death rates among different racial and ethnic groups in the United States (US) have received limited research attention. Our study aimed to examine the burden and trends in alcohol-attributed mortality rates in the US by race and ethnicity from 1999 to 2020. We used national mortality data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Wide-ranging Online Data for Epidemiologic Research (CDC WONDER) database and employed the ICD-10 coding system to identify alcohol-related deaths. There is increasing appreciation that sex differences are not limited to reproductive organs or traits related to reproduction and that sex is an important biological variable in most characteristics of a living organism. The biological process of aging and aging-related traits are no exception and exhibit numerous, often major, sex differences. This article explores one aspect of these differences, namely sex differences in the responses to anti-aging interventions. Aging can be slowed down and/or postponed by a variety of environmental ("lifestyle"), genetic or pharmacological interventions. Loop Quantum Gravity Of A Spherically Symmetric Scalar Field Coupled To Gravity With A Clock, Rodolfo Gambini, Jorge Pullin

The inclusion of matter fields in spherically symmetric loop quantum gravity has proved problematic at the level of implementing the constraint algebra including the Hamiltonian constraint. Here we consider the system with the introduction of a clock. Using the abelianizaton technique we introduced in previous papers in the case of gravity coupled to matter, the system can be gauge fixed and rewritten in terms of a restricted set of dynamical variables that satisfy simple Poisson bracket relations. This creates a true Hamiltonian and therefore one bypasses the issue of the constraint algebra. We show how loop quantum gravity techniques may …

Students receiving special education services for emotional disturbance (ED) are one of the most challenging groups of students to work with in the school setting. Special education policies have shifted to place students in their least restrictive environment, which has increased the percentage of students with ED in the general education setting. This change has created a need to identify socially valid and effective interventions that address the unique academic, behavioral, and social skill deficits often identified in students with ED. Dual enrollment continues to expand nationally, allowing high school students the opportunity to enroll simultaneously in college courses while earning credits toward graduation requirements. Despite the positive outcomes of dual enrollment, African American males remain underrepresented and less likely to participate. The problem addressed in this study involved the need to give African American males a voice to elucidate their experiences as they completed dual enrollment coursework. The National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) oversees the process of medical school graduates being matched to a residency program. The NRMP determines both the hospital and residency program for medical students. Prior to matching, both hospital programs and students rank each other. The NRMP uses these lists to determine the matches. Four distinct models using data from hospitals and applicants were used to determine what characteristics lead to a chance of being matched. Each model went through multiple rounds of testing to determine the importance of the different independent variables. In each data set, the dependent variable is either the …

This study explores the impact of Federal Reserve policy changes on returns and volatility of U.S. equity markets, including large cap, mid cap, and small cap as well as the eleven sectors of the S&P 500. Federal Reserve policy changes in this study are measured by changes in the federal funds target rate.
