A History Of Bass Guitar Effects Pedals: Liner Notes, David Lloyd

Composition/Recording Projects

This project examines bass effect-pedal technology and the lineage of recordings that have made use of such equipment. The timeline of bass pedal recordings and artists that used them range from modern day session players to The Beatles. A well rounded list of effects most frequently used on bass guitar include octave, fuzz/distortion, chorus, phaser, and envelope filter based processors, and this paper examines multiple songs from commercial music history that utilize one or more of these effects on bass guitar. There are many cases where children are dependent or heavily reliant on a particular item, whether a blanket, plushie, or nightlight. Therefore, Comfort Club aims to create a safe space for children to develop connections with emotionally supportive items that can be taken home and continuously nurtured beyond the classroom. Students also experience the impact of positivity and appreciation within the school as they learn how to effectively work with others, receive optimistic statements from their club leaders, and place their creativity into projects catering to their plushies.

This thesis studies memoirs by survivors of the Cambodian Genocide (1975-1979), the on-going genocide of the Uyghur Muslims in Chinese reeducation centers, and the prison-state of North Korea. These current or past genocides share the goal of controlling certain groups of people or eliminating those the government cannot control. Fortunately, there are the lucky few who survive these genocides, and some have published memoirs about what they experienced. Despite the fact that women suffer higher rates of cardiovascular events after menopause, there exists a significant underrepresentation of women—especially postmenopausal women—in cardiovascular clinical trials to date. Fortunately, current evidence reveals that cardiovascular events in the general population are largely preventable through modifiable lifestyle factors, with dietary intervention being one of the most important (Amiri et al., 2022). As the impact of whole-diet interventions on cardiovascular risk factors is further explored, it has been determined that a plant-based dietary pattern may favorably influence the prevention of cardiovascular events in postmenopausal women (Barańska et al., 2021). This Note will argue that the United States can and should regulate direct-to-consumer (DTC) prescription drug advertisements on television more strictly—preferably by proscribing them altogether. In Part I, this Note will discuss the issues of soaring drug prices, disappointing health care outcomes, a glut of misleading drug advertisements affecting the doctor-patient relationship and personal health, and the problem with the current approach to prescription drug advertising. Part I will also discuss the misleading nature of DTC prescription drug advertisements and some examples of the harm they have caused. The aim of our research is to establish the viability of machine learning to the prediction of TGF-β cancer treatment success (or failure). Our method begins by analyzing a dynamical system model of cancer invasion with a subsequent immune system response. Important model parameters are identified. Numerical simulations are then run with suitably randomly chosen parameters to create a simulated dataset that is used to train different predictive machine learning models. Bi-plots are commonly used in geochemical analyses. However, their use can become cumbersome in the case of multi-variate analyses. Therefore, this thesis explores the application of unsupervised machine learning techniques, specifically PCA and K-Means, to analyze large geochemical data sets from two distinct regions, Hawaii and the \acrfull{prb} in Southern California. The IBM Foundational Methodology for Data Science was utilized to ensure proper data preparation and analysis. PCA provided dimensionality reduction, revealing which features correlated most strongly with variances within the data. K-Means clustering allowed for deeper interpretation of the data.
