The Association Of Insecure Attachment On Physical And Psychological Dating Abuse: A Longitudinal Study On Young Adult Romantic Relationships During The Covid-19 Pandemic, Marissa S. Dongarra
The Association Of Insecure Attachment On Physical And Psychological Dating Abuse: A Longitudinal Study On Young Adult Romantic Relationships During The Covid-19 Pandemic, Marissa S. Dongarra
ETD Archive
The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the population’s health and well-being. Specifically, young adults are vulnerable because they are susceptible to mental health disorders (Arnett et al., 2014). One area in particular that may affect mental health is romantic relationships. Previous literature has shown increased difficulties and conflict (Luetke et al., 2020), and increased withdrawal and hostility (Pietromonaco & Overall, 2022) in romantic relationships during the pandemic. These findings suggest that relationship functioning, such as attachment and dating abuse, may be impacted from COVID-19. Although literature has linked attachment and dating abuse, it is unclear how these are associated during …

Enabling Joint Sensing And Communication For Vehicle-To-Everything Networks, Mohammad Alaneed
ETD Archive
This thesis investigates the challenges and opportunities in designing and implementing joint sensing and communication (JSC) systems in vehicle-to-everything (V2X) environments. This emerging concept in vehicular communication connects vehicles to other vehicles, infrastructure, networks, and pedestrians in a smart transportation environment. To address these challenges and seize these opportunities, a new development model is proposed. The primary objective of this work is to enhance the overall performance of the system while leveraging synergies between sensing and communication tasks. To achieve this, advanced methodologies such as the smooth-MUSIC (MUltiple SIgnal Classifcation) algorithm for Angle of Arrival (AoA) estimation, robust beamforming techniques …
A Framework Of The Antecedents And Outcomes Of Perceived Authenticity Of Corporate Social Responsibility: An Empirical Examination And Perspective Of Employees In India, Janis Thiedemann
ETD Archive
Various stakeholder groups have increased their attention on socially responsible activities, which has resulted in companies pursuing strategies that not only meet legal obligations or increase profits, but also somehow benefit society. The perceived authenticity of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives (i.e., whether or not they are seen as driven by organizational values) is crucial in determining the success and acceptance of CSR programs. However, the extant CSR literature includes notable gaps, including that much of the research on CSR authenticity has been from the perspective of external stakeholders, few studies have been performed in emerging markets, and the use …
Motion Analysis Of Feeding Tasks: Brachial Plexus Versus Control Subjects, Madison M. Lovette
Motion Analysis Of Feeding Tasks: Brachial Plexus Versus Control Subjects, Madison M. Lovette
ETD Archive
Brachial plexus birth injuries (BPBI) occur in about 0.4 to 4.6 of every 1000 live births due to stretching or tearing of the nerves. Children with BPBI often struggle to perform daily living activities without assistance, including feeding themselves. Upper extremity function is commonly assessed in children with BPBI using the modified Mallet classification, a set of positions representing activities of daily living that are scored according to ability. The hand to mouth position is a Mallet position and is often used to represent feeding tasks in the BPBI population. Establishing this normative data will provide a baseline for comparison …

PEEK is a high-performance polymer known for its exceptional mechanical properties, making it suitable for various applications; however, for certain demanding applications such as automotive, PEEK does not exhibit the required strength. Moreover, if the PEEK parts are developed by Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)-based 3D Printing, there is a high chance of having PEEK parts with decreased mechanical properties. Carbon Fiber (CF) reinforcement is a well-known method of mitigating the low mechanical properties of PEEK. Hence, in the present study, we attempted to develop CF-reinforced PEEK (CFR-PEEK) parts via FFF. First, we developed homogeneous CFR-PEEK mixtures via ball milling and …

Animal-Assisted Therapy: Exploring Practitioners' Perspectives And Experiences, Brianne Markley
Animal-Assisted Therapy: Exploring Practitioners' Perspectives And Experiences, Brianne Markley
ETD Archive
To date, most animal-assisted therapy (AAT) research has examined potential outcomes for clients. Though client outcomes are important to study, only a portion of the intervention can be understood when only one piece of the process is examined. For AAT to become a more credible intervention, there needs to be a more holistic and thorough understanding of the practice. Because practitioners’ experiences in providing AAT have yet to be specifically examined, there is a need for this work at the foundational and exploratory level. Additionally, competency models in psychology training and training of other mental health providers identify many important …

Task, Knowledge, Skill, And Ability: Equipping The Small-Medium Businesses Cybersecurity Workforce, Aadithyan Vijaya Raghavan
ETD Archive
With cyberattacks becoming more frequent and targeted, small-medium businesses (SMBs) are forced to adopt a cybersecurity framework to help secure their cyberspace. While these frameworks are a good starting point for businesses and offer critical information on identifying, preventing, and responding to cyber incidents, they can be hard to navigate and implement. To help with this issue, we propose a comprehensive model of Knowledge, Skills, Ability, and Tasks (TKSA) from the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education Workforce Framework for Cybersecurity (NICE Framework) for three of the most frequent attack vectors: Phishing/Social Engineering, Malware, and Web-Based Attacks. SMBs can use the …

In this study, a combination analysis using the pathview and pathfindR packages for the R programming language was performed on a collection of openly available Arabidopsis thaliana sequencing data from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) GeneLab to discover broad connections between three primary spaceflight stressor types and altered pathway regulation to provide focused targets for future research. Studies were divided into groups based on their exposure to microgravity, cosmic radiation, or a theorized heat-stress factor caused by reduced convection in certain technologies. Through this study, three major pathways were identified: the phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, proteasome, and starch and sucrose …
Pollinator Diversity On A Shortleaf Pine-Oak-Hickory Restoration Site, Taygan Kohlman
Pollinator Diversity On A Shortleaf Pine-Oak-Hickory Restoration Site, Taygan Kohlman
Master's Theses
Land use and cover are increasingly changing due to climate change and anthropogenic activities with many of these changes negatively impacting biodiversity. However, ecosystem restoration may help reverse these patterns. Northern Louisiana was historically dominated by shortleaf pine-oak-hickory forests but has been converted largely to loblolly pine forests with little-to-no herbaceous ground cover. The objective of this study is to determine how different practices on a shortleaf pine-oak-hickory forest restoration site affect pollinator diversity. I sampled pollinators from locations within areas under three different management regimes: 1) prescribed burning with active herbicide treatments for non-desirable plant species, 2) burning only, …
The Impact Of Leaf Litter Diversity On The Colonization Of Aquatic Insects, Daniel Edwards
The Impact Of Leaf Litter Diversity On The Colonization Of Aquatic Insects, Daniel Edwards
Master's Theses
Ephemeral pools provide habitat to a wide diversity of aquatic insects which colonize pools to establish new populations in higher quality habitats. These pools rely on nutrient inputs from the surrounding terrestrial landscape, predominantly through leaf litter. Using mesocosms, we tested for the effect of leaf litter diversity (richness and functional diversity) on the colonization of aquatic insects. Leaf litter influences characteristics of a pool (tannins, water color, and nutrients) which may make them more or less desirable to potential colonizers. I added unique mixtures of leaf litter with different numbers of species (0, 3, 5, 7, and 9) and …
Lunar Applications Of Direct Contact Membrane Distillation For Regolith And Hydroponic Water Processing, Mark Wong
Master's Theses
Water management has always been a critical issue facing lunar missions, since its uses are as numerous as they are vital. Using ionic liquids has been proposed for the purpose of processing the metal oxides in lunar regolith into oxygen and metals. The process used dilutes the ionic liquid. Recycling the ionic liquid solution after regolith processing is essential to reduce materials required in resupply missions and to supply oxygen. Water will also be needed for lunar farms to both grow food and assist in maintaining a habitable atmosphere. The use of direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) technology is a …
Deadwood Facilitates Increased Predators Resulting In Distinct And Functionally Different Leaf Litter Communities, Nicholas Benedetto
Deadwood Facilitates Increased Predators Resulting In Distinct And Functionally Different Leaf Litter Communities, Nicholas Benedetto
Master's Theses
Community structure and ecosystem function may be driven by the amount and size of habitat or energy within an environment, but these metrics (space and energy) are difficult to separate, especially in systems where habitat is also a source of energy such as detritus (dead organic matter including deadwood). Deadwood can impact forest food webs through the creation of habitat and provision of resources and initial differences in wood characteristics may differentially impact food webs. Bark beetles attack and kill pine trees, inoculating them with bluestain fungi (Ascomycota: Ophiostomataceae). Bluestain fungi may increase termite presence in deadwood, and possibly in …

Biochar As A Lake Management Option For Harmful Algal Blooms: Lab Experiments And Bioassays, Brittany Mc Intyre
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) are an increasing global concern for water management due to their increased frequency, distribution, and toxin production. In freshwaters the growth of cyanobacteria (commonly known as blue-green algae), due to anthropogenic nutrient enrichment is the primary driver of HABS; these are often referred to as cyanoHABs. The management of cyanoHABs should be focused on in the watershed through best management and conservation practices or the physical, chemical and biomanipulation of the lake or reservoir that is experiencing these blooms. In this study, we examine the use of biochar as an option for the management or treatment …

Improving Tribological Properties Of Polydopamine/Polytetrafluoroethylene Coatings Through Incorporating Core-Shell Nanoparticles And Laser Surface Texturing, Firuze Soltani-Kordshuli
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a widely used polymer that has unique properties such as chemical and temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, low maintenance cost, and a very low coefficient of friction (COF). These distinctive properties have made PTFE a promising candidate for industrial applications where surfaces are in relative motion. PTFE can be utilized as a thin film solid lubricant to significantly reduce the friction between moving surfaces. However, PTFE coatings have low cohesion and poor adhesion to the substrate resulting in its low wear resistance. This fact limits the application of PTFE coatings in load-bearing situations. To address these limitations, an …

Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Before making attempts to enhance and manage the quality of water, a thorough understanding of these processes is necessary since the chemical quality of groundwater is impacted by a number of linked processes. This would be more important in arid and semiarid regions like the southern part of California where more rely on groundwater for agriculture and drinking water uses than the other states. As a result, fundamental knowledge of the governing processes of groundwater chemistry is required for effective water resource management. Thus, this study is primarily concerned with three aspects in Mojave, Tulare, and San Joaquin aquifers: The …
