Assessing The Effects Of Pergolide On The Motivational Aspects Of Depression In Rats Using Operant Conditioning, Theresa Marciano May 2023

Assessing The Effects Of Pergolide On The Motivational Aspects Of Depression In Rats Using Operant Conditioning, Theresa Marciano

Honors Scholar Theses

Pergolide is an ergot derivative dopamine agonist which acts on the dopamine D2 and D3, alpha2- and alpha1-adrenergic, and 5-hydroxytryptamine receptors. It was previously used as a treatment for the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, but was taken off of the market as a result of causing increased risk of heart disease. As a dopamine agonist, pergolide stimulates D2 receptors, which are associated with improvement of symptoms of movement disorders. This link exists because the highest concentration of D2 receptors in the brain is in the basal ganglia, which is involved in motor control. Given the connection between pergolide, dopamine, and …

They were racialized as “others” in terms of language, customs, and supposed inferior morality. In addition, I will explain the numerous factors that have, in the past and present, …

Life-Centered Design: Bridging The Gap Between Gendered Clothing Systems And Institutional Spaces, Erin Enmark May 2023

Life-Centered Design: Bridging The Gap Between Gendered Clothing Systems And Institutional Spaces, Erin Enmark

School of Art Undergraduate Honors Theses

Over time, we have molded, convoluted, transformed, and eradicated day-to-day wearable clothing. Whether through media-based imagery, practicality, or trend cycles, clothing has become ever-changing and representative of who we are and how we chose to express ourselves. However, in some ways power structures (schools, businesses, corporations) have exploited this expression and implemented guidelines for expressing yourself through this medium. Creating societal, gendered dress codes allows systems of power to reinforce control of individuals. Judith Butler states in her book Gender Trouble that “male” and “female” are socially constructed categories. She argued that notions of universal womanhood reinforce the binary upon …

The coffee we buy often does. My thesis takes a look into the extensive issue of human trafficking and unjust labor practices on the plantations that provide us with the coffee we sip on each morning. A story that has to be told too often is that of the people who cannot afford lifesaving medications, and as a result do not survive. Doctor Nicky Mehtani says that the inability of a patient to afford their medication can be a common cause of death. It is estimated that more than a fourth of people in the United States needing medical treatment struggle with payment or simply cannot afford to pay for the lifesaving medications that they need (Mehtani, 2018). Supply Chain Management Undergraduate Honors Theses

The Mississippi River is one of the most important commercial waterways in the world. It connects the United States’ agricultural and manufacturing centers with the rest of the country and the global supply chain while also being the economic engine for developments up and down the river. Over the past four years, the Mississippi River has experienced its worst drought and flood on record. Climate change is increasing the commonality of extreme weather events, and we must alter outdated concrete or “gray” infrastructure. Traditional river engineering of levees, locks, and dams increases the severity of river flow or lack thereof, …
