This doctoral capstone project was completed in partnership with Flip for Function, an adaptive gymnastics program that integrates occupational therapy principles to support children with and without developmental differences. The purpose of this project was to support program growth through improved school collaboration, program evaluation, and community awareness. A literature review was conducted to examine the impact of movement-based and adaptive programming on participation and school-related outcomes for children with and without disabilities. Based on these findings, several resources were developed, including pre–post outcome measures, a caregiver survey, a student take-home flyer, and a school partnership implementation guide. This doctoral capstone was completed in partnership with Bridges for Parkinson’s, RockSteady Boxing, a local nonprofit organization offering group fitness classes for those diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological disorders in Nashville and surrounding areas. The goal of this project was to educate individuals and their caregivers on the optimization of healthy bowel and bladder function, specifically in the Parkinson’s Disease population. Participants and their caregivers were given the opportunity to attend an educational seminar, including receiving an informational pamphlet. Pre and posttest survey ratings suggested that the participants’ knowledge about the topic increased. The educational pamphlet was also …

This doctoral capstone was completed in partnership with Bridges for Parkinson’s, a local nonprofit offering specialized exercise programs for those living with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological disorders. The goal of this project was to develop educational resources to provide participants and care partners with practical strategies for managing sleep and emotional changes. An inservice, including handouts, was provided focusing on practical emotional regulation and sleep strategies to use during and outside of boxing classes. This doctoral capstone project was completed in collaboration with Flip for Function, an adaptive gymnastics program that promotes confidence, participation, and inclusion for children with diverse developmental needs. A needs assessment identified a gap in consistent, evidence-informed training resources to support instructors in understanding how various diagnoses impact movement, regulation, sensory processing, and participation. The purpose of this project was to develop a comprehensive professional development guidebook and staff training resource grounded in occupational therapy principles. Lidar Datasets For Development And Testing Of Preprocessing And Artificial Intelligence Damage Detection Of Alaskan Arctic Roads, Naima Kaabouch, Artificial Intelligence Research Center
Datasets
This data was primarily used for the development and testing of preprocessing and artificial intelligence damage detection algorithms for Alaskan arctic roads. They provide a high-resolution, geospatial scan of almost 95 kilometers of Arctic roadways along the Dalton, Steese, and Nome Highways in Alaska. The data used was collected using a ground vehicle and uncrewed aircraft mounted LiDAR sensors between 2022 and 2024. The dataset provides a spatial resolution exceeding 300 pts/m2 and < 2 cm vertical accuracy with a total data volume just over 16GB. The data is broken into three regions including Nome, Prudhoe Bay, and Yukon. Each region contains multiple datasets representing the reference output for multiple stages of the processing including slicing into 100m segments, segmentation of the surrounding non-road data, and filtering the remaining noise/objects above the roads surface. Damage was also identified, categorized, and labeled within the Nome region due to the extensive damage from Typhoon Merbok.

The jus ad bellum is one of the most important areas of international law, with the prohibition on the use of force forming the cornerstone of the UN Charter. However, a lack of doctrinal clarity, especially regarding the jus ad bellum proportionality principle, undermines its ability to meaningfully regulate the use of force by States in self-defense. There is further lack of understanding as to how the jus ad bellum interacts with the jus in bello, in particular as between the two proportionality principles found in both bodies of law. Space debris has become a critical threat to orbital operations, with over 30,000 tracked objects currently circling Earth. Traditional separation charges used in satellite launches contribute significantly to this problem by generating unpredictable shrapnel that can remain in orbit for decades or centuries. This project proposes the design and development of a spacedegradable explosive bolt that exploits the harsh space environment to accelerate material breakdown after use.

This project addressed the replacement of a culvert crossing Wabascon Creek along North Mason Avenue in Battle Creek, Michigan. Following significant flooding caused by snowmelt in 2023, the existing wooden box culvert—originally constructed in the 1960s—sustained damage when inlet wingwalls detached from the structure, requiring temporary repairs. Design alternatives were developed to provide a durable and reliable replacement, incorporating structural, water resources, transportation, and construction engineering considerations. The design process also addressed environmental sustainability requirements, cost-effectiveness and constructability. This project evaluated material handling inefficiencies and ergonomic concerns within Stryker’s Neptune medical device assembly line. Two primary issues were identified: lack of a standardized part-location system in the supermarket and excessive operator travel between subassembly and main assembly. These issues resulted in search waste, motion waste, lost production time, and increased ergonomic strain.
To address the labeling issue, a standardized bin labeling system was developed and tested. A time study comparing labeled and unlabeled conditions showed that average retrieval time decreased from approximately 120 seconds to 22 seconds, an 81% reduction. Plant-based coagulants are promising sustainable alternatives for water treatment due to their biodegradability, low toxicity, and reduced risk of secondary pollution. Unlike conventional inorganic coagulants, they generate less sludge and avoid secondary contamination in the environment. This project examines two chemical modification strategies for producing cationic cellulose coagulants. The first involves direct amination of cellulose using CHPTAC, while the second employs periodate-oxidized dialdehyde cellulose, which enables reductive amination through reactive aldehyde groups. These approaches are expected to yield materials with differing charges, surface functionalities, and structural properties that may influence coagulation performance. This thesis explores how the Supreme Court’s power of selecting its own docket has resulted in fewer cases being addressed annually and its effect on minors’ First Amendment rights. Minors’ First Amendment rights is one of the many niche areas of law that do not receive hearings in front of the Supreme Court. This thesis examines how crime media and neurological bias shape the experiences of Black and Brown drug defendants in the United States criminal justice system. Drawing on existing research in psychology and neuroscience, this explanation outlines the role of perception and threat detection in the formation of implicit bias while also emphasizing a need to expand the use of neurocriminology to all legal actors. Particular attention is given towards the influence of media portrayals of criminal cases, especially for drug-related offenses and how that impacts the audiences on a neurological level. Curd cheese is a traditional dairy product that, in recent years, has increasingly been supplemented with various functional additives aimed at enhancing its aroma and flavor profile, improving overall quality, and extending shelf-life. The objective of the present study was to conduct a comparative evaluation of changes in selected physicochemical, microbiological, and sensory parameters of curd cheese enriched with 0.01% essential oils derived from dill (Anethum graveolens L.), cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.), and caraway (Carum carvi L.) fruits. Functional Characterization Of Stmtpsl Terpene Synthase-Like Genes And Their Role In Pathogen Resistance In Selaginella Tamariscina, Zhijie He, Bo Bi

The biological activity and function of microbial terpene synthase-like genes from Selaginella tamariscina (StMTPSL) were investigated using molecular and biochemical approaches. After isolating and amplifying StMTPSL genes (StMTPSL1-StMTPSL6), both native and site-directed mutant forms were expressed in tobacco via Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. The resulting transgenic plants had increased expression of StMTPSL genes, enhanced monoterpene production (as confirmed by GC-MS), and significantly improved resistance to Pseudomonas syringae infection compared to nontransgenic controls. These results show that StMTPSL genes are functionally active in plants and contribute to pathogen resistance through elevated terpene biosynthesis. This two-year field experiment evaluated the effects of different organic fertilizers on olive oil quality of the Gemlik cultivar grown under semiarid conditions in Mardin, Türkiye. Treatments of olive pomace (P1: 4, P2: 8, P3: 12 kg tree⁻¹), leonardite (L1: 1.5, L2: 3.0, L3: 4.5 kg tree⁻¹), and vermicompost (SG1: 3, SG2: 6, SG3: 9 kg tree⁻¹) were applied in a randomized complete block design with three replicates. Oils were analyzed for free acidity (FA), peroxide value, and phenolic profile using high-pressure liquid chromatography. To address the shortcomings of conventional agricultural statistical and monitoring methods on a regional scale, this paper proposes the use of artificial intelligence-driven remote sensing data for analysing crop growth patterns and the economic benefits of grain. Winter wheat data from three stations in a single province from 2011 to 2020 was used, with the leaf area index (LAI) used as the key crop growth indicator value. In this study, tyrosinase enzyme was cross-linked with glutaraldehyde to form aggregates on the surface of activated magnetite nanoparticles, without the need for a separate support matrix. For the first time, this novel aggregate was employed for the spectroscopic detection of ascorbic acid (AA) and diazinon, as model food additives and pesticides, respectively. This technique, developed as an alternative to optical sensors, not only eliminates their drawbacks but also facilitates the recovery of cross-linked enzyme aggregates (CLEA) from the reaction medium using the incorporated magnetite nanoparticles. As vital components of urban ecosystems, urban green spaces directly affect soil fertility and plant growth through nitrogen transport dynamics. This study addresses the existing methodological gaps in understanding nitrogen cycling within urban green spaces, particularly the unclear interaction mechanisms between vegetation structure and soil physicochemical characteristics. This paper integrated multimodal remote sensing (RS) data with deep learning to develop a maize growth analysis and income prediction model based on CNN (Convolutional Neural Network)-Attention and Bi-LSTM (Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory). Utilsing Landsat 8, Sentinel-2, and Sentinel-1 satellite data, the CNN-Attention network extracts vegetation features such as NDVI (Normalised Difference Vegetation Index), EVI (Enhanced Vegetation Index), and canopy density for corn growth stage identification and prediction. The study combined these features with meteorological, soil, and market data and fed them into a Bi-LSTM model for time series analysis to forecast corn income. While straw return is widely promoted, its specific effects on soil humus composition, structure, and ecological functions are not fully understood. This study investigates the long-term impacts of different straw types and farming practices on humus composition, carbon sequestration, and ecological–economic benefits. In Hunan Province’s paddy fields, six soils with 5–30-year farming histories were selected. Treatments included a blank control, corn straw return, and rice straw return, each replicated three times. The objective of this project is to develop a grease-resistant barrier coating for paper-based food packaging and to evaluate the economic feasibility of implementing this coating system at an industrial scale. As demand increases, this project focuses on identifying an optimal pigment and binder combination that enhances barrier performance while maintaining cost-effectiveness. The primary goal was to maximize grease and moisture resistance of coated paper while ensuring the process is economically viable and compatible with existing paper mill operations.

Vanadium, previously considered a minor trace element, is gaining global environmental attention due to its expanding applications in metallurgy, energy storage, catalysis, and agriculture. With this rise in its industrial and technological uses, however, anthropogenic emissions of vanadium into the atmosphere, soils, and water bodies have also escalated. Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) is a member of the sirtuin protein family and the biological effects of SIRT1 encompass various areas such as the ageing process, metabolism regulation, and cellular stress response. SIRT1 activators are compounds that enhance the activity of SIRT1 enzyme. In this paper, the synthesis and structural characterization of three new coordination compounds in crystal structure consisting of a nickel atom, varying numbers of 3-aminopyridine molecules, and two isothiocyanate ion ligands are presented. The crystal structures of these compounds were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Consequently, the explicit formulas and shorthand notations of the compounds are [Ni(NCS)2(C5H6N2)2(H2O)]·(H2O) (1), [Ni(NCS)2(C5H6N2)3]·(C2H6) (2), and [Ni(NCS)2(C5H6N2)4]·2(C5H6N2) (3). The consistency of the crystal structure data was confirmed by elemental analysis and infrared spectroscopy. Phase‑pure, cube‑like barium titanate (BaTiO3) nanoparticles were synthesized via hydrothermal treatment of a single‑source barium-titanium peroxo-hydroxide precursor. Precursor solutions prepared at room temperature, 0 °C, and –10 °C with various storage times exhibited Ba/Ti molar ratios ranging from 0.66 to 1.05 as determined by X-ray fluorescence. Cooling the precursor solution to –10 °C effectively suppressed the polymerization of Ti-O-Ti, yielding near‑ideal stoichiometry and finer precursor particles. Subsequent hydrothermal processing in NH4OH, KOH, and NaOH (0.5–10 M, 100–200 °C) revealed the strong dependence of agglomeration and morphology on the alkaline medium. Purpose – This article critically analyses and critiques the operationalisation of the Trump administration’s anti- DEI policies on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in the United States of America and beyond. It specifically examines the attempt to silence DEI scholarship and practice, assessing the broader implications for social justice and global progress towards equity. The article also positions these attacks as an existential threat to DEI scholarship, scholars and practitioners, with the potential to reverse progress made since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.
