Scientific Research In Cuba: A General Analysis With A Special Focus On Energy, Agriculture And Technology, Henri Dou, Pierre Fournie

International Journal of Islands Research

An analysis of science in Cuba is carried out using data from the OpenAlex database. Examples are developed: agriculture, rice, technology in relation to the current situation: national food supply, energy and medicine. The predominance of research in biology and medicine and the low commitment in the fields of agriculture, energy, medicinal plants and technology are highlighted. Various development schemes are proposed. The conclusion is that research must be directed towards strategic areas: food and energy, must be less dispersed and that technology must be better taken into account. Three proposals are made: the development of a chemical analysis platform …

Mind The Gap: An Empirical Analysis Of India's National Cybercrime Framework And Its State-Level Implementation In Kerala, Raju Narayana Swamy Apr 2026

Mind The Gap: An Empirical Analysis Of India's National Cybercrime Framework And Its State-Level Implementation In Kerala, Raju Narayana Swamy

Journal of Law and Public Policy

India’s cybercrime framework, under the Information Technology Act 2000, is marked by a gap between national policy design and state-level enforcement. While the existing literature primarily examines legislative provisions, this paper delves into how the national cyber law actually functions within India’s federal structure, focusing on the critical divergence between de jure design and de facto enforcement outcomes. This paper unpacks this implementation gap with the example of Kerala. It is a state characterized by high literacy (94 per cent, as against the all-India literacy rate of 74.04 per cent) and high digital penetration yet plagued by an abysmally low …

Silent Struggles: A Qualitative Study On Mental Health Stigma And Help- Seeking Among African Individuals In The U.S, Ololade Ekwere Apr 2026

Silent Struggles: A Qualitative Study On Mental Health Stigma And Help- Seeking Among African Individuals In The U.S, Ololade Ekwere

Dissertations

Approximately one-third of African Americans and Caribbean Blacks who require mental health services seek and utilize them (Evans & Sheu, 2019). Research has shown that stigma surrounding mental health treatment contributes to lower rates of professional help-seeking among Black Americans (Pederson, 2023). Despite the growing diversity within the Black community, limited research exists on how stigma influences professional mental health help-seeking among Africans living in the United States.

The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study was to explore the effect of public stigma on the mental health help-seeking behaviors of Africans living in the United States. Demographic data were collected, …

Exploring School Administrators' Perceptions Of Zero Tolerance Policies For African American Female Students, Keysha D. Knight Apr 2026

Exploring School Administrators' Perceptions Of Zero Tolerance Policies For African American Female Students, Keysha D. Knight

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Zero tolerance policies disproportionately affect African American female students and contribute to their accelerated entry into the school-to-prison pipeline. Existing literature indicated that these policies subject African American female students to harsher disciplinary practices and that their behaviors were often misunderstood by school administrators. However, there is limited research on how school administrators’ discretionary implementation of zero-tolerance policies contributes to these disparities. The purpose of this general qualitative study was to explore how school administrators interpret and exercise discretion when implementing zero tolerance policies affecting African American female students through the lens of Lipsky’s street-level bureaucracy theory. Four themes were …

Physician burnout in academic medical centers remains a persistent healthcare administration challenge, with nearly half of U.S. physicians reporting symptoms of burnout in recent years. The issue threatens workforce sustainability, patient safety, and organizational financial stability, particularly in California’s academic medical centers, were physicians face complex clinical, academic, and operational demands. The integrative review examines leadership strategies that reduce physician burnout in California’s academic medical centers, aiming to lower rates from about 45% to under 30%. Transformational Leadership Theory guided the examination of leadership-driven organizational and system level approaches to burnout reduction. Twenty-seven sources were appraised using the Johns Hopkins …

Teachers’ Perceptions Of Preventing Teacher-Directed Violence In Urban Title I Schools, Allison Mashburn Apr 2026

Teachers’ Perceptions Of Preventing Teacher-Directed Violence In Urban Title I Schools, Allison Mashburn

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The problem that was investigated through this study was the increase in suspensions for teacher-directed violence at two urban mid-Atlantic Title I elementary schools. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore elementary teachers’ perceptions of preventing and managing teacher-directed violence in two Title I mid-Atlantic schools. Bronfenbrenner’s ecological framework was used as the foundation for environmental explanations. For this basic qualitative design, semistructured interviews with 10 teacher participants were conducted. The thematic analysis resulted in three themes based on the teacher request for (a) classroom management resources and supports, (b) clarifying the code of conduct, and (c) improving …

Development And Validation Of Kinetics And Musculoskeletal Modeling For The Milwaukee Foot Model, Maxine L. Olson Apr 2026

Development And Validation Of Kinetics And Musculoskeletal Modeling For The Milwaukee Foot Model, Maxine L. Olson

Dissertations (1934 -)

Many children are afflicted by foot and ankle pathologies which affect the ankle, midfoot, and metatarsophalangeal joints. However, a clinically feasible foot model capable of assessing multi-segment kinetics throughout the gait cycle does not exist. Similarly, a musculoskeletal foot model utilizing multiple ground reaction forces (GRF) and Milwaukee Foot Model (MFM) kinematics has not been created. The purpose of this study was to develop a clinically feasible method of modeling multi-segment foot properties without increased clinician and/or patient burden or expense. To this end, a force distribution algorithm (FDA) was created, allowing for calculation of multi-segment foot kinetics, musculoskeletal modeling, …

The Role Of Green Infrastructure In Enhancing Flood Resilience: A Spatial Perspective, Jinhee Han, Yoomi Kim, Katsuya Tanaka Apr 2026

The Role Of Green Infrastructure In Enhancing Flood Resilience: A Spatial Perspective, Jinhee Han, Yoomi Kim, Katsuya Tanaka

Center for Public Service Publications and Reports

The aim of this study is to empirically assess the effectiveness of green infrastructure (GI) in South Korea as a way to enhance flood resilience. We applied a spatial analytical approach to examine the impact of GI on flood resilience. Specifically, we tested spatial dependence with Moran’s I and local indicators of spatial association, addressing it with spatial lag and spatial error models. We compiled government data on GI and other regional attributes for 226 administrative districts in South Korea. Unlike previous studies that focused only on damage costs, this study incorporated both damage and recovery costs to calculate flood …

Emission Reporting For Agriculture: Frameworks And Metrics Matter, Johnny Machon, Christophe D'Abbadie, Ross Kingwell Apr 2026

Emission Reporting For Agriculture: Frameworks And Metrics Matter, Johnny Machon, Christophe D'Abbadie, Ross Kingwell

Grain and Other Field Crops Research Articles

Frameworks and metrics that reliably describe agricultural emission sources and carbon sinks are critical to the formulation of cost-effective mitigation investment. This study identifies and compares three distinct emission reporting frameworks across metrics of total emissions and emissions intensity. The frameworks and metrics are applied to agricultural industries in Western Australia. Findings for 2005 and 2023 and the trends and uncertainties over the intervening period are reported. This study novelly considers a framework that includes emissions and sequestration from land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF) activities at an industry scale. Most of Western Australia's agricultural emissions occur in …
