Leptoglossus phyllopus is a polyphagous pest that primarily feasts on citrus, tomatoes, and legumes. They must form a mutualistic symbiosis with Caballeronia every generation by ingesting the bacterium from their environment. However, not all species of Caballeronia confer the same fitness on the L. phyllopus host, raising the question of whether L. phyllopus possesses a partner choice mechanism that would allow it to distinguish between a good (GAOX1) and a suboptimal (Lep1P3) symbiosis partner. Renewed international interest in sustained lunar exploration has created a growing demand for technologies to support long-duration space exploration. Part of the recent Artemis missions and the Moon to Mars initiative is to improve key mission capabilities and fill critical gaps necessary to sustain lunar habitation. Waste management, recycling systems, and manufacturing systems have been identified as critical technologies that need further development before a sustained mission is possible. One Health (OH) is a comprehensive approach that recognizes the human-animal-environment interconnection to health and is applied to prevent and control zoonoses—diseases transmitted between animals and people. Using a multiple-method case study, we examined zoonoses networks, resource management mechanisms, and coordination strategies among policymakers and decision-makers of Peru’s human, agricultural, and environmental systems at national and sub-national levels. Social network analysis revealed collaborations between the human and agricultural systems, with limited connection with environmental systems. Only a few links were reported between national and sub-national government levels. Qualitative analysis identified structural barriers, including insufficient regulatory mechanisms for funding cross-sectoral activities. …

With strong consumer demand for beef and increasing concern about the environmental impacts of beef production, improving production efficiency and advancing the understanding of the environmental footprint are critical for the long-term sustainability of beef production systems. The first experiment evaluated the effect of accelerated adaptation strategies, using energy intake and cattle behavior, on feedlot performance, carcass characteristics, and health of yearling steers drenched with exogenous Megasphaera elsdenii. Accelerated adaptation programs (0, 7, or 14 d transition to 100% finisher) were compared to a traditional 21-d adaptation. We present a computational certificate for three families of explicit polyno- mial equations whose zero locus contains the fourth secant variety σ4(P3×P3×P3) inside P63. The three families are: 192 degree-5 Strassen commutation equa- tions (M5); 160 degree-6 equations lifted from the Bates–Oeding generators of σ4(P2 × P2 × P3) via the Landsberg–Manivel–Friedland theorem (M6); and 64 degree-9 Ottaviani 9 × 9 determinant equations (M9). All 416 generators are explicit polynomials in the coordinate ring Z[Zijk | i, j, k ∈ {0, 1, 2, 3}]. While the court accepted law office failure as a reasonable excuse for the default, it found the landlord lacked a meritorious defense. In this rent overcharge case, the court grants the plaintiffs' motion for summary judgment, finding the landlord was not entitled to charge a first rent under DHCR Operational Bulletin 95-2. Although the landlord combined parts of two adjacent rent-stabilized apartments through gut renovation, the court holds the prior apartment's essential character and function remained intact — the perimeter walls were not substantially changed and the modifications did not meet the reconfiguration-plus-obliteration standard. Pattern-Aware Graph Neural Networks For Handling Missing Data, Minett Tran, Taehee Jeong

Missing data is ubiquitous in real-world datasets. Traditional methods either discard incomplete samples or apply imputation techniques that ignore potentially informative missingness patterns, implicitly assuming that missingness occurs randomly. However, missingness patterns might provide additional information. We propose pattern-aware graph neural networks that explicitly encode which features are missing alongside observed values. We used four encoding strategies-learned embeddings, frozen random embeddings, statistical features, and hierarchical representations-across seven UCI datasets with naturally occurring missingness. Our Pattern-aware methods achieve substantial improvements over baselines, with an average improvement of 17% in balanced accuracy and 22% in F1-macro across all datasets. Our code and …

This work seeks to develop the nascent sub-field of the phenomenological philosophy of psychedelics. Beginning with a general overview of key aspects pertinent to psychedelic studies, the focus then turns to a general disciplinary discussion of current approaches within the philosophy of psychedelics, as well as psychedelic philosophy—a distinction which is technically deployed. Special consideration is given to the specific approach known as the “natural philosophy of psychedelics,” which is taken as the philosophical foil to the preferred approach of phenomenological philosophy. Previous research on the topic has considered the impacts of geopolitical trends after World War II, Eurosceptical political activity in the 1980s, and longer-term historical attitudes. This paper examines the long history of Brexit to consider these events as a whole instead of as separate parts. As the publication of systematic reviews has proliferated across the sciences in the past decade, librarians have a role in helping researchers select the appropriate type of review, providing best practice guidelines, and under-standing variations in disciplinary practices for evidence synthesis. Using a title-abstract search filtered by 10 research areas in the Web of Science, we collected a sample of 100 systematic reviews from a range of disciplines, including “Fisheries,” “Forestry,” “Health Care Sciences & Services,” and “Veterinary Sciences.” Our analysis of this data explores to what extent these articles include the basic components of a systematic review and adhere …

Cryogenic devices at 4.2K are indispensable in the control electronics for large-scale quantum computers. Due to its small manufacturing volume, a standard commercial foundry process is likely to be used in the near and medium terms. Moreover, 77K electronics are promising for high-speed server applications. Besides digital circuits, analog circuits with non-minimal channel length are particularly important in quantum computing control. In this paper, special structures are designed to characterize the device properties of medium- and long-channel length devices at 292K, 77K, and 4.2K in a commercial 14nm FinFET process. Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is a leading cause of preventable blindness worldwide, requiring automated lesion segmentation using deep learning models for early detection and monitoring. However, DR lesions vary dramatically in size from tiny microaneurysms to large hemorrhages and exudates. This variability creates conflicting demands on the model architecture and input resolution, posing a challenge for effective design. This work investigates the impact of input resolution on different lesion types. Through systematic experimentation with multiple architectures (U-Net, UNet++, Vision Transformers, DeepLabV3+) at 512 × 512 and 1024 × 1024 resolutions, we identify a critical, counter-intuitive phenomenon where increasing input resolution has …

Leadership Styles And Information Security Policy Compliance Intentions: The Mediating Role Of Psychological Empowerment, David Sikolia, Andy Luse

This study extends prior research on psychological empowerment and information security policy (ISP) compliance by examining whether transformational and transactional leadership influence employees' compliance intentions indirectly through psychological empowerment.

Data were collected from a convenience sample of 119 employed individuals enrolled in a US MBA program. The model was estimated using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Psychological empowerment was modeled as a second-order construct comprising meaning, competence, self-determination, and impact. Indirect effects were assessed with 5,000 bootstrap resamples and 95% bootstrap confidence intervals.

Both transformational and transactional leadership were positively associated with psychological empowerment, and psychological empowerment strongly …
