An Infinite Set Of One-Range Addition Theorems Without An Infinite Second Series, For Slater Orbitals And Their Derivatives, Applicable To Multiple Coordinate Systems, Jack C. Straton

Addition theorems have been indispensable tools for the reduction of quantum transition amplitudes. They are normally utilized at the start of the process to move the angular dependence within plane waves, Coulomb potentials, and the like, into a sum over spherical harmonics that allows the angular integration to be carried out. These have historically been “two-range” addition theorems, characterized by the two-fold notation r>=Max[r1,r2] and r< =Min[r1,r2] and comprising a single infinite series. More recently, “one-range” addition theorems have been created that have no such piecewise notation, but at the cost of the introduction of another infinite series. We use a very different approach to derive an infinite set of addition theorems for Slater orbitals, hydrogenic and Hylleraas wave functions, and so on, that retain the one-range variable dependence but have, at worst, a finite second series rather than an infinite one. In addition, unlike previous addition theorems, they are applicable to more than one coordinate system. One of these addition theorems may also be used for Yukawa-like functions that may appear late in the reduction of amplitude integrals, and we show its utility for an integral that has stubbornly defied reduction to analytic form for nearly sixty years. Finally, we craft indefinite integrals of 15 half-integer Macdonald functions multiplied by (inverse) powers and negative exponentials containing squares of the integration variable.

In a small claims action, the Civil Court awarded the tenant $10,000 for flooding and mold caused by nearby Con Ed construction. The tenant established through testimony, photographs, and an HPD violation that the conditions existed. The court held that a landlord's nondelegable duty to maintain habitable premises extends to conditions caused by third parties. The award represents a partial rent abatement and compensation for damage to the tenant's furniture and belongings.

The rapid expansion of digital education has accelerated the use of online instructional videos, yet variability in video design and production quality continues to shape learners’ engagement and satisfaction. This study developed and tested a structural equation model to examine predictors of undergraduates’ satisfaction with educational videos. Using survey data from 964 students, learning satisfaction was positively predicted by image clarity (β = 0.381, p <  0.001), learning motivation (β = 0.18, p = 0.006), and interactive behavior (β = 0.182, p = 0.011). In contrast, video attachment tools showed a small negative direct association with satisfaction (β = −0.116, p = 0.042). Teacher performance and video …

Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers were deployed in four tidal creeks within forested swamps and herbaceous marshes in the lower Columbia River. Measurements were collected over 12 to 20-day periods during high and low river stage, and then analyzed using wavelet tidal analysis software (CWT_Multi) to characterize temporal variability of water elevation, velocity, and discharge. While subject to similar fluvial and tidal forcing, nuances in creek geometry led to large differences in their hydraulic response. Most obviously, creeks in the higher elevation forested swamps were hydraulically isolated, which limited subtidal discharge but increased tidal monthly variability of discharge in comparison to …

The field of multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) has made significant strides in addressing sequential decision-making problems under uncertainty. However, traditional MARL frameworks assume closed-world settings with fixed agent sets, static task distributions, and unchanging environment dynamics. Premature infants admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) are exposed to environmental stressors during a critical period of brain development. Increasing evidence links early life NICU stress with heightened risk for adverse neurodevelopmental and mental health outcomes later in life. Among modifiable stressors, light and sound exposure play central roles in physiologic stability and circadian organization.

Studies comparing total darkness and constant light demonstrate no developmental advantage to either extreme. In contrast, cycled lighting that mimics circadian rhythm has been associated with improved weight gain, shorter hospitalization, and increased nocturnal melatonin excretion. Laughter Yoga (LY) is a structured mind-body practice that combines deep breathing techniques from yoga with intentional, simulated laughter. There are no jokes, cartoons, or comedy involved, laughter begins as a voluntary action and soon becomes genuine through the shared social energy of the group. The body responds to this intentional laughter with the same physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter. Sessions last 20-30 minutes and include rhythmic clapping, gentle movement, deep breathing, and playful laughter exercises performed in groups. Alcohol-involved sexual violence (SV) is a common and detrimental experience for young adult women. To supplement SV prevention strategies aimed at perpetrators, who are fully responsible for the occurrence of SV, risk reduction programs that target women’s drinking have been implemented with limited efficacy. To improve these programs, research must examine novel predictors like food and alcohol disturbance (FAD) that contribute to SV risk. FAD refers to compensatory behaviors (e.g., restricted eating, excessive exercise) to offset alcohol’s calories or enhance intoxication. Throughout my formal music education and general music upbringing, I have noted the erasure of the LGBTQ identities of artists, composers, musicians, and historical figures from formal music curricula, and from the concert hall. In response to this erasure, I am increasing visibility through the act of record-keeping by taking inventory of the works written for flute by LGBTQ composers. In searching for flute music by LGBTQ composers, it became clear that works by these composers were not organized into a centralized collection, or body of work.

Turbulence in wall-bounded flows governs momentum transport, drag, and energy efficiency in a wide range of engineering systems, yet its response to external forcing remains incompletely understood across transitional and high Reynolds number regimes. This dissertation investigates an active flow control strategy based on spanwise external forcing and demonstrates how it modifies the dynamics of transitional and turbulent channel flows with the objective of identifying the mechanisms through which forcing alters transition, flow physics, and turbulent drag reduction.

This scoping review aimed to answer the question: to what extent do artificial intelligence applications in dental and orthopedic skeletal imaging demonstrate true cross-disciplinary methodological convergence versus parallel development with shared translational barriers? This scoping review synthesizes AI applications across both fields to characterize methodological overlap, developmental asymmetries, and translational gaps, rather than assuming convergence. Following the PRISMA-ScR reporting standards, we searched PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore, and EMBASE for peer-reviewed, English-language human studies published between January 2015 and May 2025. We are all exposed to numerous pathogens every day. One of the sites for pathogens to interact with our body is in the mouth. To better understand these interactions between bacteria and host immune cells, I developed an assay to study the oral bacteria Streptococcus mutans and inflammatory macrophages. Our hypothesis was that the cytokines IL-4 and IFN-y would alter macrophage phenotypes with IL-4 reducing inflammatory responses and IFN-y increasing inflammation.  To test this, we performed experiments in cell culture as a first step toward understanding the severity of the host response at the cellular and molecular levels. Challenging classroom behaviors in early childhood and elementary settings are often linked to deficits in students’ social-emotional skills, including emotional regulation, social awareness, and problem-solving. These behaviors can disrupt instruction, impact peer relationships, and contribute to increased teacher stress and reliance on reactive discipline practices. Although research strongly supports the effectiveness of social-emotional learning (SEL) as a preventive and skill-based approach, many educators report limited training and a lack of practical resources for implementation. Last term, the Supreme Court – these days thought to be intensely interested in reviving a formalist separation of the branches of government – has finally abandoned the quintessence of that project, a revitalization of the nondelegation doctrine. This essay argues that the Court’s decision in FCC v. Consumers’ Research reflects a pragmatic turn: rather than rewriting the test for nondelegation, the Court retained the old test, gave up on formalist reform, and indicated that it will be looking elsewhere for separation of powers remedies. This article examines the legal distinction between U.S. citizens and noncitizen nationals, with a particular focus on American Samoa. While residents of other U.S. territories—such as Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands—are granted U.S. citizenship by legislation, American Samoa remains the only unincorporated U.S. territory whose inhabitants are recognized as nationals but not citizens. This distinction results in significant political disabilities for American Samoans even when residing in a state, as they may not vote, hold public office, or serve on juries.
